Mr. Monk Goes Back to School - S2-E1
Character mistake: When Kathy is presenting her model of General Robert E. Lee's surrender to General Ulysses S. Grant on April 9th, 1865, she incorrectly states that the surrender occurred "at the courthouse in Appomattox, Virginia." The surrender didn't take place at the actual courthouse, but rather at the McLean House, a private residence selected by Grant and his aides for the meeting of two of the greatest generals in American history. This is a common misconception as the village itself is called Appomattox Courthouse. (00:29:05)
Mr. Monk and the Garbage Strike - S5-E2
Continuity mistake: When Captain Stottlemeyer's car stops, he pulls to the side of the road into a cluster of garbage bags, which are lining the entire road. When Natalie approaches the car, there are only a few bags on the curb next to it and the rest of the street is clean. (00:33:00)
Mr. Monk and His Biggest Fan - S6-E1
Plot hole: It's out of character for Monk, a chronic stickler for details, not to correct an error, especially one relating to his own life. Marcy's diorama for "Mr. Monk & the Three Pies" includes Natalie, who wasn't around yet when "Three Pies" occurred. The doll should be of Sharona, but since that would ruin the ensuing joke, Monk is allowed to overlook it. He's aware of Marcy's unreasoning obsessions, but Monk's OCD would simply not permit him to keep quiet about a mistake that glaring.
Mr. Monk and the Class Reunion - S5-E6
Continuity mistake: At the start of the episode, when Katherine Rutherford is killed, she lands on her stomach with her eyes wide-open. Yet when Stottlemeyer and Disher arrive and see the cops looking at the body, she is now lying face-up and her eyes are closed. It is hard to believe that the police would move the body that much without first marking its original position with tape.
Suggested correction: It's a TV and movie trope that cops outline a body with tape or chalk, that's what photographs are for. But if someone found an old lady lying on her stomach, especially without blood, they might roll her over to check if she's OK or could be resuscitated.
Mr. Monk and the Sleeping Suspect - S2-E7
Character mistake: In Brian Baddage's house, when Randy says to the Captain, "ATF at 3 o'clock," they both look at 9 o'clock. (00:25:00 - 00:26:00)
Mr. Monk and the Big Game - S5-E3
Character mistake: When Julie asks "who discovered DNA?", Captain Stottlemeyer says "Watson and Crick. Two British scientists." However, James Watson is American (as of 2021 he's still alive), not British. And the duo only discovered the structure of DNA, not DNA itself. As much knowledge as the Captain demonstrates on the subject, he should know these two facts at least.
Mr. Monk and the Actor - S5-E1
Continuity mistake: At the end, when Monk is in Dr. Kroger's office, when he says "it's nice to be home", you see Dr. Kroger putting on his glasses. When the camera angle changes, he's putting his glasses on again.
Continuity mistake: When Monk is asking Ms. Moody if the roof is known, she's crying into both her hands. But in the next shot, she's only crying into her left hand and her right hand is down. The shot changes, and we see her lowering her right hand, not left. In the next shot her left hand is up again.
Continuity mistake: In the beginning, we see Cassie with her watch on her left wrist. But in the shot with both her hand on Joseph's back, the watch is on her right wrist.
Mr. Monk Is on the Run (2) - S6-E16
Continuity mistake: When Monk and Natalie are watching the video of Dale, Monk puts his hand behind the screen (like he's blocking the sun to see it better) and Natalie is holding it on the bottom. When the shot changes to the screen, there're no hands behind it.
Mr. Monk Is on the Run (2) - S6-E16
Other mistake: The article about the "Car Wash Columbo" repeats itself after it mentions he's named after the famous T.V. detective.
Mr. Monk and the Three Julies - S6-E13
Other mistake: When Natalie sits down with Randy eating ice cream, she's says "vanilla fudge, my favorite." But the carton is labeled "chocolate." Plus Randy says he got it out of her freezer, so she would know she bought just regular chocolate ice cream.
Mr. Monk and the Man Who Shot Santa - S6-E10
Continuity mistake: The amount of stuffed animals on Natalie's hood change depending on the camera angle, as she and Monk are talking before he goes up to the roof.
Mr. Monk and the Daredevil - S6-E7
Continuity mistake: When Joey hands the kids back the poster they drew, it's folded in his hands. In the next shot, it's rolled up.
Mr. Monk and the Daredevil - S6-E7
Other mistake: The newspaper article about Harold is just gibberish and random keystrokes.
Mr. Monk Visits a Farm - S5-E14
Continuity mistake: When Jimmy is talking to Harvey, after Harvey refuses the money, he puts his hand on Harvey's shoulder. But the next shot, it's off. It switches to back on depending on the camera angle.
Mr. Monk Is At Your Service - S5-E12
Continuity mistake: When Paul shoots his butler, you see him raise his arm up straight out, but in the next shot, his arm is lowered with his elbow bent.
Mr. Monk and the Leper - S5-E10
Continuity mistake: At the meeting, the pencils on the yellow pad on the table keep changing position depending on the camera angle.
Mr. Monk Meets His Dad - S5-E9
Other mistake: When Jack Monk is filling up his truck, the numbers on the pump don't add up right and keep changing. The cost is $3.599/gallon, but in one shot you see the sale price reads $93.78 for 28.348 gallons. The sale price should be $102.02. But in a later shot, he's only pumped 27.126 gallons. Then when he hits $100 sale price, it's for 31.259 gallons ($3.199/gallon) but in the next shot it reads 27.719 gallons.
Mr. Monk Meets His Dad - S5-E9
Continuity mistake: When Monk is looking through the boxes on the trailer, on the first shot, the box marked "Tucson" isn't flush with the box underneath. But after, it's flush without anyone touching it.
