Monk

Mr. Monk Goes Back to School - S2-E1

Character mistake: When Kathy is presenting her model of General Robert E. Lee's surrender to General Ulysses S. Grant on April 9th, 1865, she incorrectly states that the surrender occurred "at the courthouse in Appomattox, Virginia." The surrender didn't take place at the actual courthouse, but rather at the McLean House, a private residence selected by Grant and his aides for the meeting of two of the greatest generals in American history. This is a common misconception as the village itself is called Appomattox Courthouse. (00:29:05)

Mr. Monk and His Biggest Fan - S6-E1

Plot hole: It's out of character for Monk, a chronic stickler for details, not to correct an error, especially one relating to his own life. Marcy's diorama for "Mr. Monk & the Three Pies" includes Natalie, who wasn't around yet when "Three Pies" occurred. The doll should be of Sharona, but since that would ruin the ensuing joke, Monk is allowed to overlook it. He's aware of Marcy's unreasoning obsessions, but Monk's OCD would simply not permit him to keep quiet about a mistake that glaring.

Mr. Monk and the Class Reunion - S5-E6

Continuity mistake: At the start of the episode, when Katherine Rutherford is killed, she lands on her stomach with her eyes wide-open. Yet when Stottlemeyer and Disher arrive and see the cops looking at the body, she is now lying face-up and her eyes are closed. It is hard to believe that the police would move the body that much without first marking its original position with tape.

Suggested correction: It's a TV and movie trope that cops outline a body with tape or chalk, that's what photographs are for. But if someone found an old lady lying on her stomach, especially without blood, they might roll her over to check if she's OK or could be resuscitated.

Mr. Monk and the Big Game - S5-E3

Character mistake: When Julie asks "who discovered DNA?", Captain Stottlemeyer says "Watson and Crick. Two British scientists." However, James Watson is American (as of 2021 he's still alive), not British. And the duo only discovered the structure of DNA, not DNA itself. As much knowledge as the Captain demonstrates on the subject, he should know these two facts at least.

Mr. Monk Buys A House - S7-E1

Continuity mistake: When Monk is asking Ms. Moody if the roof is known, she's crying into both her hands. But in the next shot, she's only crying into her left hand and her right hand is down. The shot changes, and we see her lowering her right hand, not left. In the next shot her left hand is up again.

Mr. Monk Is on the Run (2) - S6-E16

Continuity mistake: When Monk and Natalie are watching the video of Dale, Monk puts his hand behind the screen (like he's blocking the sun to see it better) and Natalie is holding it on the bottom. When the shot changes to the screen, there're no hands behind it.

Mr. Monk and the Three Julies - S6-E13

Other mistake: When Natalie sits down with Randy eating ice cream, she's says "vanilla fudge, my favorite." But the carton is labeled "chocolate." Plus Randy says he got it out of her freezer, so she would know she bought just regular chocolate ice cream.

Mr. Monk Meets His Dad - S5-E9

Other mistake: When Jack Monk is filling up his truck, the numbers on the pump don't add up right and keep changing. The cost is $3.599/gallon, but in one shot you see the sale price reads $93.78 for 28.348 gallons. The sale price should be $102.02. But in a later shot, he's only pumped 27.126 gallons. Then when he hits $100 sale price, it's for 31.259 gallons ($3.199/gallon) but in the next shot it reads 27.719 gallons.

More trivia for Monk

Answer: Stottlemeyer was already upset after the phone call. He was trying to get "Kevin" (who would have to be a judge, but no further character information is given) to issue a restraining order with no evidence of needing one, except that Adrian Monk said she needs one. Kevin said he would need to "sleep on it." So it's clear they've been trying to provide protection and unable to get the results they need, which seems to be based on no one trusting Monk the way Stottlemeyer does. He's just angry that they failed to protect Linda despite all their work. Although it does feel like a scene was cut, or altered, from the show that shows the futile attempts to protect Linda which built up to his outrage.
