Corrected entry: For the first and only time in the series, Kirk refers to the ship's phasers (when he orders an attack on the Melkotian buoy) as "phaser guns."
Where No Man Has Gone Before - S1-E4
Corrected entry: When Kirk fired the phaser rifle the second time, we continue hearing the sound even though the beam had stopped.
Correction: Of course. Light travels faster than sound. We see the light from the phaser disappear well before we'd hear the sound stop, just as we see lightning before we hear thunder.
The Trouble With Tribbles - S2-E15
Corrected entry: When Scotty comes into the messhall holding a bundle of Tribbles, you can see that the middle finger of his right hand is missing. (A result of Doohan's WWII D-Day fight; Normally, the show made every attempt to hide this.)
The Man Trap - S1-E2
Corrected entry: When McCoy tell Kirk that the dead crewman has no salt in his body, the blood pressure gauge was almost all the way up, that would mean that there was too much salt in his body.
Correction: A dead person cannot have any sort of an accurate blood pressure reading.
This Side of Paradise - S1-E25
Corrected entry: A captain from the 2200's owns Samsonite luggage from the 20th century.
Correction: The original Star Trek series was actually produced on a very limited budget of about $250,000 per episode, and many of the props were re-purposed items from thrift stores. It was not uncommon to see all sorts of 20th Century items (clothing, luggage, dining room sets, household spray bottles, salt shakers, et cetera) on any given Star Trek set. Keep in mind that those items were chosen because they were rather futuristic in appearance to audiences of the mid-to-late 1960s, even though they appear whimsically anachronistic to our eyes, just 50 years later.
Also the characters have access to replicators and super computer databases. The cases could be 23rd century reproductions, classic antiques, etc.
Corrected entry: The whole plot centers on the crowded conditions of the planet. The people are literally bumping into each other. Even if they had the blueprints to build a full size model of the Enterprise, there would be no room for it.
Correction: That's actually a plot point of the episode; that they were so desperate for this to work they were willing to sacrifice that much space.
Corrected entry: Gary Seven transported down to earth using the enterprise transporter system. Because of this he should re materialise in the same fashion as normal, yet for some unexplained reason he comes from his safe in a cloud of blue gasses. (00:10:30)
Correction: True, he used the Enterprise transporter, and people usually can't move when re materialization occurs. However, Gary Seven, with his advanced knowledge, would know how to work the transporter, target his safe/transporter (with vastly superior alien technology), and be able to walk out before the normal cycle was finished. This is due to the alien transporter being superior. In later incarnations, people can move while being transported.
Corrected entry: When Nomad's bolt sends Scotty flying across the bridge, you can see the two rubber mats placed on the floor for the stunt man to land on. (00:21:10)
Correction: There are no rubber mats anywhere for the stuntman to fall on. There was barely a second between impact and a person running to his side. He expertly landed in such a way as to avoid any major injury, save for a few bruises.
Corrected entry: The Ekosians have a modern society with large flat panel screens, but somehow haven't mastered color broadcasting.
Correction: This is due to when this show was made and the status of technology of the time. By this same logic, you can say the entirety of Star Fleet is behind with their technology is some respects. Like the simple blinking light displays of their computers and the monotone robotic voice of their computers.
Corrected entry: Spock's super sensitive hearing somehow doesn't pick up Sulu talking to Riley about leaving the bridge.
Correction: Spock has excellent hearing, but if he was focused on another task he may have simply not been listening to them.
For the World is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky - S3-E8
Corrected entry: Spock says the planet is a spaceship and making corrections in its flight, later he states that it is on a collision course with Daren 5 planet, but if it can make corrections it should avoid the collision.
Correction: The ship was originally on a crash course with Daran V but Spock discovered that the Oracle computer that runs the ship had a faulty part that caused it to change course.
Corrected entry: When Dr. McCoy is doing the surgery on Joe's wound, the indicators on the the medical readout screen are in different positions even though they all appeared to be dropping.
Correction: The indicators for the bio bed would naturally be in different positions, indicating the different levels of Joe's vitals as they fluctuate. Granted, they were dropping, indicating he was dying, but until the body stopped, the instruments of that time would read out every beat until there was nothing to read.
Corrected entry: How the heck did the Gideons (who are not members of the Federation) get such exact specifications to make what Spock describes as "an exact duplicate of the Enterprise"? Does Starfleet just hand the plans out to anyone?
Correction: This is an unanswered question, not a plot hole. They could very well have advanced scanning capabilities. In fact, that would be a more realistic explanation than schematics, as personal items are duplicated as well.
Operation -- Annihilate! - S1-E30
Corrected entry: When given the option of using intense light to kill the creatures, McCoy says that he could probably rig a cubicle in the bio lab to test the theory. However, that would require him to know engineering, and one of his caustic quotes is "I'm a doctor, not an engineer!", unless he requisitioned Engineering to help.
Correction: Rigging a cubicle with lights wouldn't require engineering skills. He just meant he can set up some intense lights and focus them on a certain spot, not that he'll have to wire anything or build a special device.
Corrected entry: Kirk and Spock pretend to be filming Daras so they can enter the building where John Gill will give his speech. Look at the lamp Spock is holding. In the beginning it works, than a couple of scenes later it doesn't, and when they are outside the chamber where John Gill is, his lamp is on again.
Corrected entry: When Spock goes outside to scan the area he looks at the building directly in front of him, but when the child rubs away the dirt on the window Spock is seen looking at the ground to his right. But in the next shot Spock is looking directly at the building again.
Correction: When Spock comes out, and sends the guards off, he begins to look at, and scan with, his tricorder, and routinely glancing at the buildings, keeping mindful of possible attack in a possibly hostile situation. When seen through to cleaned spot, he is still performing the actions.
What Are Little Girls Made Of? - S1-E8
Corrected entry: When the android Kirk is created from the oddly short-legged blank, the turntable rotates to show Chapel the new Kirk - and the indentation on the other side suddenly disappears. (00:27:25)
Correction: When the duplicator table turns for Chapel to see the new android Kirk, the indentations on both sides are there.
Corrected entry: We see our heroes paralysed by the alien belt machines, we then cut to the intro movie. When we go back to them they are being disarmed by the female alien. She takes something from McCoy's hand, yet before the intro he had nothing in his hands. (00:03:10)
Correction: Rewinding more, you will find that there is an instrument in McCoy's hand, only concealed while wondering the arrived aliens.
Corrected entry: When Plasus and two sentinels beam down to break up the fight near the mine, Plasus is on the end of the trio as they materialize. The camera angle changes as they step off the dais, and Plasus is suddenly in the middle. (00:05:10)
Correction: When Plasus and the two sentinels are materializing on the landing pad, Plasus is between and behind the two sentinels (look at their feet in relation to the outer rim of the pad). The initial camera angle makes it a bit difficult to see, but the men are in fact positioned consistently during and after transport.
Who Mourns for Adonais? - S2-E2
Corrected entry: Spock says they've only managed to punch holes in the force field large enough to fire through. But when the Enterprise fires, the force field (in the shape of Apollo's hand) is no longer there at all. (00:44:30)
Correction: When the Enterprise fires on the temple, the force field IS visible. However, as they continue to fire and damage the power source, the force field starts to fade and flicker in and out, until it is gone.
Correction: This isn't a mistake. It could barely be classified as trivia.
