Factual error: All NJ local police cars follow state law by having valid license plates on the front and back of the car. Only in NYC do they have plates like the one shown at the end: on the front of the car is an all white plate with blue lettering and the four-digit car number.

Continuity mistake: When Claire and Phil steal Holbrooke's car and are being shot at by the detectives, we see one shot take off the driver's side mirror completely. In the subsequent shots, starting with the one of Phil shooting back at them, there is now a partial mirror there.

Continuity mistake: When Drew goes to answer the door to the trick-or-treaters, the shot of the table at the front door has four legs at the corners. When the close up shot of it is taken, it's now a totally different table with a single middle post.

Continuity mistake: In the scene with the first race between Diesel & Walker, the 2 girls spray paint a wide and very faint red line across the street. When the cars pull up to it, the line is now very distinct and only a few inches wide.

Continuity mistake: When the principal stabs the 3rd victim (male) on the gurney, we see that the tongs on the pitchfork extend almost their full length underneath the bed. However as we see up top, the pitchfork couldn't have been that deep given it had the height of the man's chest to go through as well.

Continuity mistake: At the end when we zoom up from the Sheriff and his wife, the "spy satellite" view zooms significantly back but we don't see any of the telltale evidence of the recent massive explosion to the south of them that was seen in the distance while they were walking through the field.

Revealing mistake: At the end scene when the Sheriff is escaping in the truck away from the nuclear blast, the truck begins to flip through the air. While it is flipping we see under the vehicle and can see the hole they use to launch a post to help flip the vehicle for the stunt. A brief puff of white smoke also emanates from that hole briefly during the flip.

Factual error: Given the destruction from the nuclear blast threw the truck in the air, the rest of the surrounding area would also have experienced similar destruction. However when they are walking away from the truck to another town in a nearby field, there is no visible impact of what was a recent nuclear explosion anywhere to be seen.

Other mistake: During the church scene, an elderly man is seen using a Black Motorola flip cell phone that wasn't available until 2005, some 2 years after the movie was set.

Factual error: In the beginning during the gas station scene, the timeframe of the movie is supposed to be Sept 2003 but a number of late model (>2006) Ford, Subaru and Honda vehicles are seen driving by in the background.
