WarGames (1983)

Factual error: While it makes for a great story for the movie, the reality is that all computer systems used by government agencies - especially in the DoD - are required to provide their source code for thorough inspection to ensure there are no back doors, hidden subroutines or other types of software code that are not relevant to the task designed for. Given the critical nature of this system being in control of launching nuclear missiles, the reality is that none of the games that Falken wrote - much less the whole routine to allow it to simulate a game like this - would still be in, for obvious reasons. Of course it could be argued Falken hid this, however given the lack of complexity for a computer of this era, it's highly unlikely.

Factual error: While it may be an artistic thing for the movie, fulgerite (lightning + sand) does not create anything near as ornate, long, crystal clear or tentacle like as portrayed in the movie. If anything it leaves tubular or clump like structures that are more reminiscent of kitty litter.

Piranha 3D (2010)

Factual error: All propane tanks for the last 30 or so years have a safety valve which prevents them from simply releasing gas when the valve is turned on. Given these tanks looked brand new and Jake only turns them on, the gas would not have been released.

Suggested correction: The propane tanks they use are PEN15 models and the safety mechanism is easily circumvented.

Factual error: The movie starts off saying its 2007 and Smart Cars were not sold in the US until 2008.

White Chicks (2004)

Factual error: When Kevin and Marcus pick up the Wilson sisters, we see them driving away on a back road by the airport. The issue is that there are no roads or surrounding areas like that in or around JFK airport where they are supposed to be.

Land of the Lost (2009)

Factual error: When Dr. Marshall and team launch the tank of nitrogen into the mouth of the dinosaur, there's absolutely no reason why the tank would explode as it was swallowed whole and didn't experience any sort of impact that could have punctured, ruptured or broken the valve off the tank.

Alphas (2010)

Pilot - S1-E1

Factual error: The show is supposed to be taking place in NYC, however its clear by the shooting locations that its shot in Toronto. This can also be seen very by the various signs throughout the city that are not found in the US and are very Canadian in nature, such as the Do Not Enter and One Way.

Alphas (2010)

Pilot - S1-E1

Factual error: When is the team watching the surveillance footage of the man being shot in the police station, the video suddenly goes out from the laptop. Gary explains later as he fixes it that it was the VGA port however when we see the back of the TV, there was no VGA cable hooked up, just some standard RCA cables.

Factual error: Throughout the movie, we see various shots of the Ripley computer system with some sort of fog being pumped around the circuit boards inside. Presuming that this might even be a coolant of some sort, the way in which its being directed and not dispersed would create moisture on the electronics and easily short circuit things.

Factual error: We see Will using a gummy fruit to lift off a fingerprint from a can to then use on the fingerprint reader. This would not be possible due to the fact that the reader used relies on optics to read the ridges on a finger, something the gummy could not reproduce.

Factual error: TSA regulations strictly prohibit passengers from leaving an airplane once they have boarded, regardless if the doors are still open, except during an emergency situation. However, Dennis was permitted to leave to look for Will.

Factual error: When the kids are putting firecrackers in the duct system, we see them flying around the aliens exploding. However the fireworks that were used were not the type with propellants on them and therefore would not fly around.

Factual error: The Hollywood sign is over 350' wide and would not have been visible outside Dr. Evil's lair given how small the opening was and the perspective we see it from.

Factual error: When Austin is showing Foxy the internet, the URLs on the bottom of the page refer to domains that end in .UK.GOV. All UK Government web sites end in .GOV.UK. The .GOV suffix is only used for US Government sites, and none of those have the prefix ".uk".

Factual error: When Optimus is killed, the fight takes place in a mountainous forest with that was filled with extremely tall trees not indigenous to NJ, much less any surrounding state of the area portrayed in that scene.

jerimiah

Factual error: Aside from the lack of an Air Force base in NJ that looks anything like the one portrayed in the film, there are no mountains anywhere closely resembling the ones seen in the distance by the base.

Swimfan (2002)

Factual error: All NJ local police cars follow state law by having valid license plates on the front and back of the car. Only in NYC do they have plates like the one shown at the end: on the front of the car is an all white plate with blue lettering and the four-digit car number.

The Crazies (2010)

Factual error: Given the destruction from the nuclear blast threw the truck in the air, the rest of the surrounding area would also have experienced similar destruction. However when they are walking away from the truck to another town in a nearby field, there is no visible impact of what was a recent nuclear explosion anywhere to be seen.

jerimiah

Factual error: In the beginning during the gas station scene, the timeframe of the movie is supposed to be Sept 2003 but a number of late model (>2006) Ford, Subaru and Honda vehicles are seen driving by in the background.
