Doctor Who (2005)

Daleks in Manhattan (1) - S3-E4

Corrected entry: When The Doctor, Martha, Solomon, and Frank first enter the sewers, Frank mentions, "You could hide a lorry down here." Lorry is a British term, not an American one. Because this story is set in the United States, he should say, "You could hide a truck down here."

LizzieWD

Correction: Frank says "you could hide an ARMY down here".

Up in the Air (2009)

Corrected entry: In the scene when George Clooney has returned to his apartment and his neighbor gives him the package she signed for, he opens it, sees the large poster board photograph and says "my sister" but it is not his sister it is his niece and her fiancé.

KareninNVA

Correction: Actually, it is his younger sister. He has two sisters.

27 Dresses (2008)

Corrected entry: In the office scene when Tess meets Pedro, Jane's ponytail is tightly curled (as though with a curler). But by the time she and the others have arrived at the baseball game, her ponytail is completely straight.

Correction: That's extremely common when using a curler. The curls last a few hours at best before it relaxes. And if there is a bit of humidity in the air, they're gone in an instant.

A Serious Man (2009)

Corrected entry: Insider trivia mistake: There are a number of references to Sarah's aggressive divorce attorney, Ron Meshbesher, including showing his firm's real-life address. Ron Meshbesher is very well-known in Minnesota as an aggressive attorney for personal injury cases and litigation, but he's not a divorce attorney. (Note that Coen brothers are from Minnesota and film was shot in Minnesota; http://www.meshbesher.com/lawyers/ron-meshbesher).

Correction: Ron Meshbesher is not Judith's divorce attorney, but the criminal lawyer Larry hires for his brother. Judith's lawyer would hardly have sent his bill to Larry anyway. But Meshbesher's address on said bill is actually that of the real Meshbesher.

Up (2009)

Corrected entry: In climates warm enough to support brightly colored animals, chocolate would melt in about 10 minutes. Russel's chocolate shows no sign of melting, even when it is in his pack.

trulyrandom

Correction: Chocolate with a high cocoa content does not melt in tropical temperatures. That is why it used to be in military ration packs for the tropics. Anyway, Kevin is hardly a realistic specimen, and we don't really see any other denizens of the jungle, which could well be a moderate one.

Corrected entry: Harry and Dumbledore apparate from the tube (train station) at few minutes after 11 p.m. (as evidenced by the date that Harry made with the waitress for when her shift ends at 11). However, they apparate to the town where Prof. Slughorn is hiding and the grandfather clocks reads approximately 10:26 p.m.

MovieFan612

Correction: The grandfather clock is simply wrong, and there are actually at least two reasons that can be: One, Slughorn has faked an assault by the death eaters on the house, and in the process of creating that chaos, the clock might have been harmed. Or two, and even simpler, Slughorn states the owners of the house are away on holiday, so the clock has stopped, because it wasn't wound up regularly.

Atonement (2007)

Corrected entry: In the fake newsreel of the chocolate factory owned by Paul Marshall, the British ruler at the time (June, 1940) is shown and stated to be Queen Elizabeth. In reality, Queen Elizabeth II did not ascend the throne until 1952 upon the death of her father, King George VI. (01:35:00)

Correction: The Queen shown in the newsreel was the then Queen Elizabeth, the mother of the present monarch. The wife of King George VI was correctly presented as "Queen Elizabeth". Even after her husband's death her correct title was "Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother".

Ioreth

Corrected entry: Q asks Bond to whistle the first bars of Rule Britannia. The part he whistles matches the words 'Rule Britannia'. But the first words of that song are 'When Britain first at Heaven's command'.

Jacob La Cour

Correction: Bond whistles the first bars of the chorus, as most people would. It's the well-known part, and clearly what Q intended, as it works.

Corrected entry: The final battle occurs in China. Yet at Reed and Sue's wedding all of the women, including Sue, are wearing kimonos, a traditional garment of Japanese origin.

wizard_of_gore

Correction: Just because the battle took place in China, doesn't mean the wedding does. Not only the dresses but also the garden they're in points to the fact that they have moved to Japan for the wedding.

Kyle XY (2006)

Show generally

Corrected entry: In the Season 2 episode "What's The Frequency, Kyle?", Declan comes over to the Trager house to see how Lori is doing. While they are talking, Lori refers to her being attacked as "assault". Assault is only threatening to hurt someone. Because Lori did not even see who attacked her, the person committed battery, not assault.

Correction: Lori is a teenager, not a lawyer. She felt that she was assaulted and she probably doesn't give a damn what the attacker would actually be charged with.

Ioreth

Corrected entry: In the scene when Neville Longbottom is seen looking into the mirror and Harry approaches, we see close enough to the mirror to read the titles on the newspaper cuttings. One notes the 'Mysterious Disapearences'. The 2nd E in Disapearances is a horrendous spelling mistake, beyond what a newspaper might reasonably make.

Correction: The Guardian Newspaper (as an example) is a respected broadsheet and yet notorious for its spelling errors. Newspapers do make mistakes.

Chariots of Fire (1981)

Corrected entry: Harold Abrahams excuses himself during the interval of "The Mikado" to ask out one of the singers. In the previous scene we see him and Liddel watching the "Three Little Girls From School" song being performed - this is part of the second act and appears *after* the interval.

Correction: The "Three Little Girls from School"-trio happens halfway into the first act and thus well before any interval.

Corrected entry: Rochefort is wearing an eyepatch, which means he has no stereoscopic vision. It's hard to imagine that he could be any good at swordplay because he is not able to determine distances of objects, especially fast moving swords.

Correction: Sorry to disappoint you, but there have been historical records of one-eyed swordsmen and even one-eyed archers. Apparently, with enough practice and instinct you can make up for the loss of three-dimensional vision.

Ioreth

Corrected entry: When everyone is at the beach for the first time with Chitty, during the scene where Potts is describing what has happened (how they are now completely cut-off [by water]) you can see that the car is on dry land and there isn't any water except far in the distance. The very next instant (during Potts' sentence) the tide somehow completely surrounds the car. (01:06:10)

Correction: Previously submitted and corrected.

Last Orders (2001)

Corrected entry: Helen Mirren boards a bus which is an old fashioned Routemaster. When she disembarks, the bus is modern with automatic doors.

Correction: She's going quite a long way to visit her daughter in the institution. It's perfectly possible that she changes buses. There is no need to show this.

Ioreth

Corrected entry: The date given in the film (flashback) is 1870. The Paris Opera House wasn't opened until 1875.

Correction: On the building it says "Opera populaire". This is not the Palais Garnier (the Paris Opera) but a fictitious opera house in Paris.

Ioreth

Corrected entry: In the 'present day' scenes at the beginning of the film, we see the run-down theatre, filled with cobwebs and debris, while it's being used for the auction. However, in the scenes set earlier, we see that the theatre was consumed by fire; but there are no signs of this in the scenes set later.

STP

Correction: There are nearly 50 years between the main plot and the framing story. The opera house could have been restored after the fire and fallen into disuse during World War One.

Ioreth

Corrected entry: Meg has a fringe which keeps changing length. It starts off short at the beginning of the film, it then gets longer, but by the end of the film it is back to being very short.

Correction: Considering that the plot covers at least a few months, there is no reason why her hair shouldn't have grown, and that when the bangs grew too long, she had them cut to the former length.

Ioreth

Corrected entry: One of Aubrey's crew saw the Acheron, a French frigate, when it was under construction in Boston. This was carried over from the book in which the Surprise originally pursues an American frigate. The Americans did not build frigates for the French.

Correction: It is never insinuated that the ship was built FOR the French by the Americans. Ships changed owners and nationalities frequently. Wasn't Aubrey's first command a French-built ship?

Rocketeer (1991)

Corrected entry: With Neville Sinclair being so good at everything he does (acting, language, appearing to be who he is in general), why can't he dance? Just look at him with Jenny at the fancy restaurant: about as flexible as a bowling ball.

redbaron2000

Correction: Oh, I know quite a few otherwise perfect men who can't dance. You just can't help being born with two left feet!
