The Strangers (2008)

Corrected entry: Towards the end, Kristen's clothes have reverted back to the opening scene's dress from the wedding they attended. She had changed into jeans and some type of overshirt while he's out getting cigarettes; towards the end this shirt rides up a bit as 'the stranger' is dragging her down the hall. The final scenes show them sitting tied up for their final moments and she's inexplicably back in the party dress.

Correction: The shots are not consecutive. They could have put her back in that dress offscreen, before they tied here up, because they wanted to kill her in that dress specifically.

Corrected entry: Surely the poster hiding the tunnel would not have stayed flat on the wall of Andy's cell due to air flowing through the tunnel. Would it not bubble and be noticeable?

Correction: Do you mean before, or after he escaped. If you mean before, he could have covered the other end with something, to prevent this. If it was after, do we know if air was always blowing through there, maybe it would have eventually, but not during the brief time everyone was in the cell.

Hitman (2007)

Corrected entry: When Whittier is talking to his boss after getting off the plane he says "Belikov was grazed by a bullet from over 4 kilometers away." 4 Kilometers equals 4374 yards (almost 2.5 miles). There's no way that shot would have been possible. (00:09:15)

Correction: The M107 .50 Caliber Long Range Sniper Rifle, has a range of 7,450 yards. It is not very effective at this range, but as mentioned, he was grazed, not killed.

pross79

Corrected entry: Sheriff Bell carries a Colt semi-automatic single action pistol. As he prepares to enter the motel room in El Paso we see him draw his pistol and cock the hammer. This implies that he was carrying the pistol with the hammer down with a round in the chamber, which would be very unlikely since it is well known that that is the most dangerous way to carry such a gun. The standard way that most professionals carry this gun is in a "cocked-and-locked" condition where the hammer is cocked and the thumb safety engaged.

CodeCat

Correction: Not a plot hole if a character is behaving dangerously.

Die Hard 2 (1990)

Corrected entry: It is not possible that a Heckler & Koch MP5 repeats with blank rounds as seen during the fight at the church. An automatic weapon, such as an MP5, repeats with gas pressure, which only is strong enough when a bullet is in the barrel.

Correction: There are different types of blanks, that do allow for the firearm to operate. The 5-in-1 style of blank, designed to cycle through firearm actions and fit a variety of firearm chambers, is also commonly used in real firearms for dramatic effect.

Quantum of Solace (2008)

Corrected entry: When Agent Fields meets Bond & Mathis at the airport in La Paz, Bolivia, she claims to be from the Consulate. As a capital city La Paz actually has an Embassy, whereas Consulates are generally found in secondary cities.

Correction: Actually, there are Consulates there as well, they are just housed within the embassy. The Consulate, and Embassy serve different functions.

The Pegasus - S7-E12

Corrected entry: It is revealed that it has been 9 years since Riker served above The Pegasus. It is also stated that this was Riker's first position since leaving the academy. By this point in the series, Riker must have been the Enterprise's 1st officer for at least a few years (probably 7 as this is the 7th series, but let's say 4, as a timescale is rarely mentioned in the whole series). Furthermore he was already a 1st officer before he got the gig on the flagship, so let's say he was already a 1st officer for a year before TNG. So if he has been a 1st officer for 5 years, are we to assume that it only took 4 years after graduation for Riker to go from cadet to commander? Also, Riker was offered his own command in series three, meaning that it would have only taken him around 6 years to become captain. There's an episode where Data told Q that in order to be captain it takes years after leaving the academy - he definitely says one would have to spend 8-12 years in the lieutenant grades alone. Riker is good, but he's not that good.

Correction: There is not a formula for how fast someone get promoted, it's based on a lot of things, not just years of service, or years at a certain rank. Since we do not have all of the information, we do not know the reasons why he may have been promoted faster than the typical person.

Batman Forever (1995)

Corrected entry: A conservative estimate of the acid-filled vault's weight is about 4 tons, most likely much more (a previous corrector suggested it was a special light-weight safe that Two-face installed. You can tell from Batman's difficulty in lifting the door that it is solid metal). The strongest industrial cable would need to be at least 1/2 inch thick to hold the weight, even more considering it would have to withstand the additional force as the vault makes its downward arc. The 1/8 inch thick cable that Batman uses would have snapped like a thread under the weight, no matter what it was composed of.

BocaDavie

Correction: Batman uses a lot of high-tech stuff. Within the context of the movie, he could have a cable made of stronger material than is generally used elsewhere.

Major League II (1994)

Corrected entry: During the scene where Dorn is in the dugout and yells at Jake Taylor that "as General Manager of this team I demand to know when I will get a start?", Taylor answers him that there will be an old timer's game coming up. Fact is, if Dorn is the General Manager of the organization, he would have MUCH more power over Jake Taylor. If he really wanted to play, he wouldn't need Taylor's permission.

Correction: It is true that the General Manager is the manager's boss, but usually they allow the manager to make game decisions like that. He could pull rank, and make them start him, but maybe he decided it would be better for the team if he did not.

Iron Man (2008)

Corrected entry: The scene where Yinsen tries to buy Stark more time by firing wildly as he chases the guards down a hallway, only to find himself outnumbered, is almost an exact replica as the scene in Star Wars Episode IV when Han Solo is led into an ambush by stormtroopers.

Correction: Having a scene that is similar to a scene in another movie, or even an exact copy, is not a mistake.

The Hitcher (2007)

Corrected entry: When Jim and Grace notice Sean Bean driving in the family's car, they are trying to warn the family while driving side by side next to their car. They eventually crash and have a very lengthy fall before they come out to see the family's car driving past them away. However, considering the length of the fall, wouldn't the family's car be much farther away? One can say that the family had stopped to see the crash, so why did they do nothing about it, and keep driving?

Correction: We don't know what happened in the car, perhaps they slowed down to help, and that's when the killer decided to make his move, and he forced them to drive away, instead of stopping to help.

pross79

Corrected entry: When Coach Bolton is giving his "You are the team" speech, there is a banner behind him that says, "Go Wildcats! Pounce on thee Knights." "The" is spelled with two Es.

Brad

Correction: The meant to use the Old English word Thee, because they are talking about Knights. They are using it wrong, but that is a character mistake, and an error most people who do not know about proper grammar in Old English would make.

pross79

Corrected entry: After Derek's discussion with his family about how they need to leave Venice Beach, he enters their living room where Seth is on the couch spitting jelly beans in all directions. Derek simply says to Seth, "Come on, let's go" and they proceed out the front door without Derek even responding to Seth's spitting half chewed, saliva-covered jelly beans all over his family's living room floor. Although Seth's character is shown in the movie to be a little less than polite, it is just too unrealistic for Derek, a civilized person, to not even take notice of such behavior.

Correction: Maybe, because of his state of mind at the time, he did not notice behavior that would have normally annoyed him.

CSI: Miami (2002)

Season 6 generally

Corrected entry: In Episode 6-6 "Sunblock": When the solar eclipse is happening you see everyone looking up at it. Everyone knows you can't look at the sun during a total eclipse.

Boobra

Correction: There are lots of thing we are not suppose to do, that we do, even though we know they are bad for us. Also I am sure there are some people who do not know it is dangerous to do that.

Dawson's Creek (1998)

Love Bites - S6-E18

Corrected entry: When Dawson is excitedly telling Pacey about how well his movie project is going, he makes a point of saying that 'he's already written 20 pages of his script, and can't wait to get home to write some more'. But later in this episode, Dawson is in his bedroom trying to work on his script with apparent Writer's Block. He starts to type on the laptop screen "Open with" and can't go any further. This implies that he is just starting his script, and is blocked to go any further. But previously he claimed to have already written 20 pages, plus any others after he got home.

Correction: It sounds like he is lying to his friend, because he does not want to be embarrassed that he is not able to write anything.

pross79

Corrected entry: Sarah says that the first terminator attacked her in 1984. This makes no sense. There are two ways to think about it. 1: John looks about thirteen years old, but thirteen years after the attack is 1997. Judgement Day. There wouldn't be enough time to have the third movie. 2: John's police record says he is ten, but that would mean the year is 1994. He is definitely not 13 in the third movie.

Jack Kaltenbach

Correction: The only real mistake here, is that the actor playing John looks older than 10. The 2nd movie takes place in 1994, when John is suppose to be 10. The 3rd movie takes place in 2004, when he is suppose to be 20. The 3rd movie can happen in 2004, because the events of the 2nd movie delayed judgment day from 1997 to 2004.

The Simpsons (1989)

That '90s Show - S19-E11

Corrected entry: Snake jumps into the crowd of Sadgasm fans and Chief Wiggum is chasing him. However, Snake wasn't a criminal in the nineties. In another episode, you find out that Snake became a criminal when Moe stole his gold to pay for dating Edna. This is the same year that she started teaching Bart and according to another episode, he's never been held back, so it's only been a year.

Jack Kaltenbach

Correction: The Simpsons history has to be adapted over time, in order to fit its "present day" setting in with the fact that it's been going for nearly 20 years. As such it doesn't constitute a mistake, even a deliberate one.

Cloverfield (2008)

Corrected entry: There is no way the Army could respond that fast. It would take at least 12-24 hours to have a force that size.

Correction: Unless the military was tracking the monster, and they had forces ready for a response. There are problems with this theory, but it does not mean it can't be true.

Smallville (2001)

Reckoning - S5-E12

Corrected entry: Near the beginning of the episode Clark makes a diamond by squeezing a piece of coal with his super-strength and the diamond emerges as a beautifully cut and faceted gem. Diamonds have long been considered to be one of the hardest properties on earth and even with super-strength, could not be honed to this degree by bare hands alone.

Correction: We can pretty much throw out most of the laws of physics, if they say he can make a diamond, then he can do it, either that or every single thing he does has to be considered a mistake, since none if it is actually possible.
