Friends (1994)

The One With Phoebe's Wedding - S10-E12

Corrected entry: Isn't is strange how normally there is a busy street/road outside the coffee house, but during Phoebe's wedding ceremony, which we can see takes place directly outside it, it appears to be more like an open area of land? The wedding could never have taken place in the middle of a road (even if the roads were quiet because of the blizzard) but also the setting of her wedding is very dissimilar to the normal setting outside the coffee house.

Correction: It's already made clear that this is the worst blizzard for many years and the road outside Central Perk has never been the busiest so using the road is far from impossible. Secondly the view outside is unrecognisable both because we've never seen it from that angle and because it's covered in snow.

Titanic (1997)

Corrected entry: The whole manner in which upper class people speak has been dumbed down for the audience. High society people in the early part of the 20th century had a very refined manner of speaking; whatever they truly meant was masked with something more socially appropriate. For instance, when Rose's mother says something to the effect of: "Here comes that vulgar Brown woman. Let's move before she sits with us," she would have been considered extremely ill-mannered. In reality, she would have given some knowing glances, and said something more like: "It's getting very warm in here. Perhaps we should take a turn on the deck." Her friends, seeing Molly Brown approaching, would know exactly what she really meant. (00:50:40)

Krista

Correction: This is a generalisation about a large section of society. It is not possible to say that all high-society people would act in the same way. It's not a movie mistake to make it easier for the audience to understand, it's not different from having foreigners speak English in their own country to avoid subtitles.

The Mummy (1999)

Corrected entry: Ancient Egyptian is a lost language. Linguists just assigned sounds to the hieroglyphics. No one should be able to understand Imhotep's native language, only when he speaks Hebrew. While those who are under his spell wouldn't need to know Egyptian and would do the Mummy's will no matter what, Evie *can* understand Imhotep, yet she is not one of his minions. (01:05:05)

Correction: Imhotep has some fairly impressive powers so it doesn't seem too far fetched for those around him to be able to understand him. Given that he has selected Evie as his sacrifice, it's not clear what control he may be exerting over her.

Corrected entry: When Richard Jenkins/Frank Bascom is talking to Jim Carrey/Dick Harper on his cell phone in the bank parking lot he tells Jim Carrey he sees the WOMAN bank employee walking towards him. He tells Jim Carrey that SHE knows that her car has NOT been stolen because she can see her car. But this is impossible since Jim Carrey never told Richard Jenkins or anyone else that he made up that story about her car being stolen just moments ago.

Frank Scialdone

Correction: They would have to assume that the bank employee would be at her desk and that a diversion would be required. The story we see is what they had previously agreed.

Corrected entry: In the final scene, when there was a skirmish between Alec Guinness, bridge demolition team and the Japanese soldiers, Guinness eventually falls on the detonator which blows up the bridge. But after that, all the Japanese soldiers just disappeared. Did that one guy with a mortar and a bunch of women take them all out?

Correction: There were not that many Japanese soldiers that left the bridge and we do see several bodies which is plausible given that the Japanese were in the open while the Brits were under cover. The other Japanese were killed in the bridge explosion.

Bruce Almighty (2003)

Corrected entry: In the scene where Bruce is getting Evan fired, right after Evan says "And my tiny little nipples went to France.", both cameramen lean inwards to stare at Evan, and we can see the text on the TelePrompTers. The left TelePrompTers, which Evan was reading from, says "little tiny nipples".

Correction: So Evan made a mistake, newsreaders do that all the time. It doesn't change the intent of the "news" and isn't a movie mistake.

Corrected entry: Mr Yunioshi is obviously Japanese - his name, the fact that he pronounces Holly's name "GoRightly" all prove it, however in other words that contain an L he does not pronounce them as an R, even though he should.

Correction: If pronunciation is the deciding factor then he should be saying "GoRightRy". Japanese do not consistently pronounce every L as an R despite the stereotype.

Corrected entry: The holes in the walls where the light comes are already there, so as the sun comes up the sunlight will only come in on one side to start with. Also the time between the first ray of light and Seth and Kate leaving is not enough for outside to become that light after dawn.

Correction: Submitted by someone who has never got up to see the dawn. It gets very bright long before the sun is actually visible, I've seen it and taken pictures of it.

Corrected entry: When Jane is driving to the Mexican border to pick up Dick, she drives up in some sort of four-wheel drive vehicle. A shot later, it is back to the other car they normally have.

Correction: Eh, no, same car all the time.

Flightplan (2005)

Corrected entry: When the plane is about to land there is a lot of snow at the airport, but by the time it has landed, the snow is completely gone.

Correction: Needs to be more specific to be worthwhile, we mostly see the runway and surrounding areas which would of, course, be cleared of snow on a regular basis.

Flightplan (2005)

Corrected entry: In order to complete the hijacker's plan, he tells that all flight crew should deboard as soon as they land in the Newfoundland airport. Only he (Carson) and the woman (Kyle) are to remain on board. Still, the flight attendant (Stephanie) with whom he is performing the plan remains on board. How could she stay on board without anyone from the crew finding it odd?

Correction: She took advantage of the large number of people to hide. Her colleagues may have noticed once they were off the plane but they couldn't do anything about and if everything had gone to plan she would be in a plane leaving the country.

Flightplan (2005)

Corrected entry: Near the end of the film, while the airliner is approaching Goose Bay, a hijacker tells the plane's captain that they will specifically require a Gulfstream III to make their escape. When the airliner lands a short time later, lo and behold, there is a Gulfstream III sitting on the tarmac. How were the authorities able to immediately procure that exact type of long-range, high-dollar business jet at one of the most remotely located airports in North America? And if the hijackers wanted to make it appear that they were trying to escape to another country, why be so specific about what kind of airplane they want? Any one of a number of business jets, small airliners, or even Canadian military aircraft could make the trip.

Correction: That the hijackers chose this specific model is not a movie mistake, that they were able to find on at short notice is stretching credibility but is also not a mistake. Finding a specific model of aircraft at an airport is always a possibility.

The Mummy (1999)

Corrected entry: When engulfed in the sandstorm, you see close-ups of the characters in the plane, however, the background is just blue, with a tiny bit of sand flying around. It was obviously done so it would be easier to see the characters, but still a mistake.

Correction: Just like being in a snowstorm, it's not easy to see the individual components be they sand or snow from close-up. It's only from a distance that the overall quantity starts to obscure vision. A more simple example would be that even the dirtiest of glasses do not prevent the wearer from seeing even though everyone else can see how dirty they are.

Spy Game (2001)

Corrected entry: At the end of the movie when Brad Pitt is being airlifted away his left eye is black. In the next scene it is the right one before changing back to the left one for the final shot.

Correction: I've just watched this scene and Brad's entire face is black and blue, there's no way to even see if he's got a black eye or if it changes sides.

Spy Game (2001)

Corrected entry: Near the end of the movie when bishop is getting rescued and escorted into the helicopter; he looks at the other helicopter where he sees the girl. You can perfectly see that her hair is long, but when they show her again when she's in the chopper, you can see her is chopped off, leaving just a buzz cut, most likely because the guards cut it that way. You can see it again when her head is under a blanket.

Correction: It does look very like that but in fact her "long hair" is the blanket draped over her head.

Spy Game (2001)

Corrected entry: Right after the Nebaa is demolished by the bomb, some people are tending to the wounded. One man is laid down on an improvised stretcher. He is missing his left arm. The problem is, the actor is missing his left arm: he was evidently born without it. The arm gets thinner towards the end and, aside from the fake blood, you can see no fake bones, ripped skin or ripped shirt around the end. The skin at the end of the arm is smooth. This man was evidently born without the arm.

Correction: Where's the mistake? There's a guy with one arm playing a guy with one arm, seems OK to me. If there's no blood then there's no indication that the missing arm is the injury - he might have other wounds we can't see.

School of Rock (2003)

Corrected entry: The timing of the day of Battle of the Bands is very suspect. It has to be first thing in the morning, say 9:00 at the latest, because all the parents are in Principal Mullins' office demanding to know why she hadn't caught on to Dewey's fraud, and the new substitute for the kids hasn't arrived yet. Yet when they get to the performance venue, there's barely enough time for them to get ready and go on stage as the last band to perform. Allowing travel time and the time it took to pick up Dewey, it still can't be much past 10:00 AM. It's too hard to believe that a bunch of hard-rockers would be up that early to watch all those bands and that everything would essentially be over by that time.

Correction: We simply have no way of knowing what time it is, it's pure speculation that all parents would be available at 9am. The best indication of time is that when Dewey leaves the apartment, Ned and his girlfriend are coming home, presumably from work, which would suggest that it is late afternoon at least.

Tommy Boy (1995)

Corrected entry: When David Spade first picks up Chris Farley he tells him he has just put a 440 with a 6-pack carburetor, but later when the hood flies off you can plainly see that it has a regular 2-barrel carburetor and air filter.

Correction: He lied, he has no friends and is trying to impress.

Mystic River (2003)

Corrected entry: When Jimmy is pouring a drink for Dave's wife in the kitchen, he begins pouring from a frontal shot. It moves to a shot over his shoulder, and back to the front shot again, where he finally stops pouring. All this time, we can hear the liquor continuously being poured, but if he had poured for that long, the glass would have overflowed. When he finally places the bottle down on the table, the glass is less than half full. (00:54:25)

Correction: So it's clear that he was pouring slowly.

tw_stuart

At the speed he was pouring, the glass would have been much more full than it was.

Tommy Boy (1995)

Corrected entry: In the scene where Tommy's father is showing Chris Farley his new office the name on the door is "Thomas Callahan III" but when Chris Farley is introduded as the new president of the company at the end of the film, he is introduced as "Thomas Callahan, Jr."

Correction: There's no mistake here, his full name is Thomas Callahan III, but he is referred to by his friends as Thomas Callahan Jr.
