Corrected entry: In the scene where Ron is under the sorting hat, he is sorted into Gryffindor, but instead of heading off to the left, to the Gryffindor table, he heads off right which would send him out of his way to the correct table. (00:44:40)

Correction: True but there is a large group of first years between him and the Gryffindor table which he has to walk round. It's not at all clear if going left or right is shorter and in any case, taking the long way round isn't a movie mistake.

Corrected entry: When Harry, Ron, and Hermoine get off the stairs (which have just moved) onto the third floor, the stairs bounce, clearly illustrating that they are not made of the hard stone they appear to be. (01:01:10)

Correction: The bounce is related to the fact that the staircase is only attached at the bottom otherwise it would be unable to turn. The flex comes from where the stairs are connected to the lower landing, not from the material itself.

Apollo 13 (1995)

Corrected entry: During liftoff, one of the five second stage engines fails. This is indicated by a shot of the control panel, and one of the five indicator lights is flashing with a buzzer going off loudly in time with the flashing light. In fact engine failures were indicated by having a light simply go out, and there was no buzzer. Director Ron Howard originally shot the scene accurately, having a light just turn off was visually uninteresting and did not convey the drama of an engine failure. After getting the OK from Astronaut and technical advisor Dave Scott, the more dramatic indication was used.

Correction: Artistic decision to convey the drama and assist the audience, not really a movie mistake. A typical embellishment which is quite permissible in movie world.

tw_stuart

Correction: Actually the indicator lit up if an engine was generating less than optimal thrust (ie a shutdown) While you are correct it did not flash or set off a caution/warning tone, all lights would have been extinguished and 5 would be lit with a solid light.

Corrected entry: Last shot of the Hogwarts Express as it pulls away: the trees to the left of the screen are blowing madly in the wind, while the trees to the right aren't moving at all. (02:23:40)

Correction: The trees on the right are further away and more difficult to see but it's clear that they are blowing just as madly as the trees on the left side.

Corrected entry: When Harry is in the hospital wing, and he's been sleeping there for a while (time not known) as soon as he wakes up, before even lifting his head, he reaches over to the right side of his bed, picks up his glasses, and puts them on. But earlier in the movie his nightstand was on the left side of his bed, when he slept in the dormitory. It's odd how automatic Harry knew where his glasses were, even when they changed sides - he was presumably unconscious when they put him in bed, so he can't have noticed then. (01:26:45 - 02:14:05)

Correction: He wakes up, opens his eyes and looks to his left. Since he doesn't see his glasses there, the next logical choice would be to look right which is exactly what he does, nothing odd, no mistake.

Corrected entry: In the marching scene when the guy said he wants to be home with the wife and kids, when you see a shot of the back of his head, you see his mouth move, but you don't hear anything.

tylerasktaylorsteckleralexdenny

Correction: No, immediately as he starts to talk the camera switches from behind him to in front. There is no mistake here.

tw_stuart

Corrected entry: Tom Riddle's writing in the diary and Hermione's writing (pipes) are exactly the same, clearly done by the same crew member. (01:28:20 - 01:53:25)

Correction: No. Look at the 'P' in Potter and the 'p' or 'P' in pipes, extremely different. All of Riddles f's, y's etc are sloped and have a quite distinct tail below the line while Hermione's p's are very upright and plain.

Corrected entry: When the flying car is about to land in front of Ron's house, we can see its shadow to the car's side (which indicates that it's morning). In the next shot, the shadow is exactly under the car (which indicates that it's noon). (00:10:40)

Correction: The car arrives during the night and the only shadows visible are those cast by the car headlights or the streetlights. There is certainly no shadow of the car which supports the submission.

Corrected entry: In the scene in the Weasley's house there is a magically spinning plate in the sink washing itself. In the shot where the boys are shown in front of the sink look carefully and you can see the axle the plate is spinning on. (00:11:10)

Correction: I've looked closely at this one. We see two shots of what is actually a frying pan, not a plate. One is a wide shot when they enter and one is a closeup when Harry looks at it. No axle is visible in either shot.

Corrected entry: In Shanghai, when Ethan's partners are shooting baseballs to get the security guards' attention, you can hear that the Chinese that they are speaking is not the specific "Shanghai" Chinese. They are speaking rather a Hong Kong-Taiwan tone.

Correction: Hong Kong and Taiwan speak different languages with very different accents. Most Chinese speak at least two versions of Chinese, Mandarin and whatever is appropriate for their region (Cantonese for HK and Taiwanese for TW), so there's no mistake to hear residents of Shanghai speaking Mandarin Chinese.

Friends (1994)

The One Without The Ski Trip - S3-E17

Corrected entry: When the five of them are at the rest stop, Joey manages to get the cab door open. When Phoebe starts to reverse the car, you can tell the cab hasn't broke down as you can see the brake lights come on. No lights were on when the cab started moving. (00:11:10)

Correction: The car has run out of petrol but still has electrical power so the brake lights will operate. Phoebe starts the car and when it stops she put her foot on the brake. I don't see any mistake.

Friends (1994)

The One With The Ultimate Fighting Champion - S3-E24

Corrected entry: Near the end when Chandler is in a meeting, Stevens comes back later because he forgot his suitcase. If you look carefully, he picks up his suitcase and then puts it back down on the table on purpose. Also, when he leaves the room, you can see him turn around and hide out of shot waiting for his cue to come back in. (00:20:15)

Correction: Stevens is making an excuse to come back in because he wants the boss to spank him. All his actions are deliberate.

Corrected entry: After Hermione says, "It's the 3rd floor, it's forbidden." you can see all 3 actors look up at the column before the flame even erupts. (01:01:35)

Correction: The three of them are reacting to the noise made as the flames start, not to the appearance of the flames. The noise preceeds the appearance.

tw_stuart

Corrected entry: When HRH go to McGonogall to tell her about the Philosopher's Stone, after she says, "Now go back to your dormitories, quietly", Harry turns around and it's pretty obvious that he lets out a big smile there as turning.

Correction: Speculation, it certainly isn't obvious to me.

tw_stuart

Corrected entry: In the scene with the flying letters, the way they enter both the living room and the corridor is simply screwed up. They start off shooting horizontally, going slightly up, but a few seconds later, they are obviously just being dropped from the ceiling. This is even more obvious in the shot of Mr Dursley trying to get the letter off Harry, where it shows the letters coming out the door at a very fast speed, then floating down about a metre away. (00:11:20)

Correction: Not correct, many of the letters shoot up quite sharply after exiting the fireplace and, in accordance with the law of gravity, they float back down soon after.

tw_stuart

Corrected entry: Why is there a sign inside the secure room saying whether the security measures are on or off? The only people able to read it would have to be in the room, and anyone supposed to be there would know they were off, and there would be no reason to put a sign up for anyone not supposed to be there.

Correction: The sign may be redundant but it's not a mistake for it to be there.

tw_stuart

As previously stated, the government does goofy, redundant stuff like that. Such as giving Phelps the full files on his usual team, double locks on things, etc. I guess it's either their way of spending money to look cool or as to warn any of the higher ups that might drop by, maintenance or a janitor that they've inadvertently triggered the lock. These are just guesses but plausible ones.

Corrected entry: When the waiter leads the viewer to his childhood home, he wears his napkin over the same arm throughout except for one shot, when it suddenly changes to the other arm and then back again.

Correction: It's not a different shot; it's a completely different scene. The waiter has plenty of time before and after to change the napkin from one arm to the other and back.

tw_stuart

Corrected entry: Watch Eric Idle after he dies in the 'Fighting Each Other' section. He's trying not to laugh during the 'slicing the lemons, mixing the sugar and the almonds' speech.

Correction: He may be trying not to laugh but it looks exactly like a grimace of pain, which isn't out of place for a dying man.

Die Hard (1988)

Corrected entry: When Bruce Willis is fighting the first terrorist, they both crash into a stairwell door and the door breaks off it's hinges and falls on the stairs. The floor was under construction but the door is obviously attached. I find it hard to believe that two people crashing into a office building door of that type would be enough force to break it off the hinges.

Correction: This is an action movie, people crashing into a door and breaking it off its hinges is perfectly in keeping with the genre.

The Young Ones (1982)

Demolition - S1-E1

Corrected entry: On the door that joins the kitchen and the hallway, there are two tall panels. They are both different colors - this is because one of them is made from a different material so that Vyvyan can punch his hand through it later when he is smashing up the house.

Correction: Given the state of the house, the extremely dodgy nature of the landlord and the behaviour of the students living in it, it's certain that if any repairs were being done, no attention would be given to colour matching or even to using the same materials. The different coloured panel is from a previous repair.
