Dinner Party - S2-E2

Stupidity: Nathan sees who he thinks is Nora at the Dinner Party - despite her boss using her avatar once before, so he knows not to assume it's her, especially given she's been missing for weeks. He's completely thrown by her unusual behaviour, and it doesn't even occur to him it might be someone else.

Upload (2020)

Show generally

Stupidity: Nora's dad believes in heaven and doesn't want to upload himself, because he wants to be reunited with his wife. When visiting Lakeview, he tells Nathan that Nathan's soul went to "real heaven," so he's just talking to a simulation. Which means there's no reason he can't upload himself. His soul will go to real heaven like he wants to, and he can leave a simulation behind for his daughter to be with. Everyone would be happy, but nobody makes that argument.

Coronation Street (1960)

Coronation Street mistake picture

Show generally

Other mistake: September 12, 1973 - as Pat Phoenix walks through a door, the camera smacks into the back of her head with an audible thump. Once she enters the room, she glances angrily back at the crew, and a boom mic drops into shot to boot.

The Nice Guys (2016)

Pride Parade - S5-E3

Factual error: Nandor manages to fly up to space, then loses control and falls back to earth in a fireball as he reenters the atmosphere. But objects reentering the atmosphere only get hot because they're generally travelling at immense speeds, 7-12 kilometers per second. Nandor just floated straight up, then falls straight back down. When Felix Baumgartner parachuted from the edge of space his maximum speed was about 1,300 km/h, and he didn't catch fire.

Stupidity: The "keep everyone in the stadium" plan is foiled when gold is scattered around the outside and everyone leaves. The bad guys didn't consider locking the doors? Not least because once the terrifying sky tendrils descend and boiling red clouds start filling the arena, surely people would have started bolting for the wide open exits.

Psych: The Movie (2017)

Trivia: Shawn says at one point "Jules would never do a Hallmark movie." Maggie Lawson starred in a Hallmark movie called "My Favourite Wedding" the same year this was released.

Psych (2006)

Santabarbaratown - S6-E16

Shawn: Rough day for you, man, no way around that. Girl you're dating turns out to be your sister...who killed your father. Who killed your mother, and was sleeping with your ex girlfriend.
Gus: And Shawn punched you in the face.
Shawn: Yeah, there's that, too.

The Gang Missess the Boat - S10-E6

Trivia: Charlie Day was initially uncomfortable kissing Kaitlin Olsen, having been friends for a long time and her being married to Rob McElhenney, but was told not to "wimp out." Glenn Howerton wanted to go even further: "a really extended, 5 minute long, interminably long lovemaking scene between the two of them, that wouldn't be funny at all...until it just kept going and going and then it becomes funny again...hopefully." He was talked out of the idea. Day eventually came around: "we don't get to kiss other people very often, let's just enjoy it".

Psych (2006)

Ferry Tale - S5-E7

Plot hole: The cops storm the ferry and recapture the 4 prisoners, only to quickly discover that two convicts swapped places with passengers and escaped on a medical boat. This boat powers off and we're later told "by the time we caught up with the boat they'd made their escape", but there's just no way that's possible. They had barely a minute's head start, in wide open water, with multiple high speed police boats in range/sight of them the whole time.

Other mistake: Ethan (in disguise) throws some gas grenades in the office where the security heads are meeting - there's a massive explosion. Bright green gas fills the room... And everyone working on the typewriters in the room below completely ignores this, despite having a clear view into the glass window/wall of the office above. Even after a couple of minutes of Ethan and Kittridge talking, the phone rings with someone checking on them, rather than security busting in the door immediately.

Suggested correction: The three explosions aren't especially loud. The sound would likely easily be deadened by the walls and windows. The resulting powder (not gas) that's released is only present for a few seconds before dissipating. Since everyone in the typing pool is so focused on their work, it's quite possible it went unnoticed.

Black Books (2000)

Show generally

Question: Is there an episode where Bernard can't think of the word for a scanner or card reader or something and refers to it as a "beepitibeep"? Might have the wrong show entirely.

Jon Sandys

Chosen answer: You may be thinking of S3E1, "Manny Come Home", when Manny quits and gets a job at Goliath Books next door. The device they use to scan books, look up items, or even order muffins is referred to as the "Doo-Deedee-Doo," after the sound it makes when employees scan their cards in it.

Stupidity: The humans return to Pandora knowing how things went last time...and still haven't improved the cockpit glass to be able to resist a bow and arrow?

The Shining (1980)

The Shining trivia picture

Trivia: At various points in the film, Jack Nicholson flicks his eyes to the camera, often only for a few frames, frequently hard to catch. It's deliberate - in one clip of behind the scenes footage Kubrick lies under him while setting up a scene, and specifically tells him to look down to the camera when filming. But there's no specific answer as to why - genre-defying, or to make the audience feel more threatened, or to make the viewers feel like the ghosts he sees. Hard to unsee though.

Jon Sandys

Trivia: More recent seasons have fewer scenes outside the front of the bar - the cast have said the area's been gentrified over the years, so it's now a bit too nice looking around there to match the low-rent feel of the setting.

Hero or Hate Crime? - S12-E6

Charlie: All right, fine. I voluntarily stepped in the dog shit so that I would smell of dog shit. Happy?
Dennis: Less happy!
Dee: Why would it make me happy?!
Charlie: I was trying to cover up the smell of the skunk that I let spray me so that there would be no questions.
Dennis: Well, now I have more questions!
Dee: Of course you do.

Futurama (1999)

Show generally

Question: Which episode is it where the characters visit either a museum or an archaeological dig of the 20th century, and come across a voiceover/narrator/scientist making wild and wrong assumptions about the use of common objects? I've got a quote in my mind that's something like "here's where people would maybe do [something] perhaps."

Jon Sandys

Chosen answer: In s02e06, "The Lesser of Two Evils", they go to "Past-o-Rama" amusement park. There's a hologram of an Old New York traffic and the voice over guy says something like "it was a forum for a free exchange of opinions", followed by New Yorkers yelling.

Bishop73

Thanks! I think what I was remembering was that combined with the Bigfoot video where the narrator says "In the dense forests of the Pacific Northwest dwells the strange and beautiful creature known as Bigfoot, perhaps."
