Trivia: In the Marvel Comic series where the characters originate from, Deacon Frost was actually an elder man, and an alchemist who dabbled in vampirism and - via one of his experiments - turned himself into a unique vampire who could create doppelgangers of his victims.

Trivia: The original Marvel Comics' Blade was a member of a band of vampire hunters, who mainly fought Dracula (who also was a regular at Marvel). The others included Quincy Harker and Rachel van Helsing (both descendents of Dracula's enemies from Bram Stoker's novel), and Hannibal King (a vampire detective, and a victim of the original Deacon Frost).

Question: Whistler introduces himself as 'Abraham Whistler'. Could there possibly be a connection to Abraham Van Helsing in the original Bran Stoker writings, who also fought vampires?

Chosen answer: There could be but there doesn’t really seem to be any information about where the name came from. The Whistler character was invented by Marvel for Blade's appearance in the Spider-Man cartoon show in 1996, but there he was simply called Whistler, the first name – Abraham - came with the Blade movie. Now there has been more than one character with the last name Van Helsing in the comic books and Abigail in Blade: Trinity was originally also a Van Helsing (until the producers found out about the Van Helsing movie). So yes they might have chosen Abraham as a subtle reference to Van Helsing.
