Continuity mistake: In the restaurant as Mitch says, "We can get Cathy at Annie's now," Melanie looks at the floor, then at Mitch between shots.



Continuity mistake: As Melanie and the rest look out of the restaurant window the pencil in the ear of the waitress is in one place in the close-ups and another in the wider shots.



Continuity mistake: As Melanie and the store manager look across the bay the piece of paper scotch taped to the window above his head is reversed. The picture of the woman is to the left of the piece of paper but when we see it from the inside as Melanie walks into the store it's reversed.



Continuity mistake: As Melanie places the card for Cathy on the bird cage one bird appears on the lower perch that wasn't there before. In the next shot it disappears again.



Continuity mistake: We see the back of Mitch's coat as he reaches for the doorknob of the restaurant. It's wetter in the next shot as he brings Melanie back into the restaurant.



Revealing mistake: If you watch closely as she sets sail Melanie's boat nudges the boat that the camera is on causing the film to jiggle slightly as she passes by.



Continuity mistake: As Melanie is in the living room we see a lamp on the table between the two chairs that is later removed and never seen again in the movie.



Continuity mistake: After Melanie takes off her right glove she puts it on top of her pocketbook with her left hand twice.



Continuity mistake: As Melanie and Mitch look at Annie's body more time elapses then we are led to believe. There's a car parked on the road directly behind them and there are no cuts in the time line of the movie, but ten seconds later we see that spot again and the car is gone.



Audio problem: As the cameraman moves in on Mitch and the birds in the kitchen, listen very closely and you can hear his wheels squeaking on the floor.



Continuity mistake: As Mitch and Lydia talk in the kitchen the far wall in the dining room becomes darker between shots.



Continuity mistake: As Melanie hands lumber to Mitch the upper window has no curtains on it and a light can be seen shining through. In the next shot there are curtains on the window.



Continuity mistake: During the bird attack, Lydia and Cathy start running towards the dinner table and the drapes to the left of the door are pitch black. The next time we see these drapes they're lit up.



Revealing mistake: When Mitch runs to get the hammer and nails the camera follows him around the corner of the kitchen door. Watch very closely as the door on the far right of the screen moves when the camera hits it. The film also jiggles as this happens.



Continuity mistake: As Melanie and Mitch walk up to Annie's house they pass the school and you can see that the bench that Melanie sat on in front of the monkey bars has been removed.



Continuity mistake: As Melanie approaches the boat keeper her pocketbook is hanging around her wrist. In the next shot as she speaks to him the pocketbook is in the crook of her arm.



Continuity mistake: As they speak on Annie's front porch Melanie says, "Well, I'd better be on my way" and her left hand is at her side. In the next shot she's holding it straight out.



Visible crew/equipment: After finding Mr. Faucets body Lydia gets back in her truck and you can see the reflection of a crewmember wearing headphones in the lower right part of the windshield.



Visible crew/equipment: After Mitch puts the bird back in its cage as he walks towards Melanie the shadow of the camera appears on his jacket.



Continuity mistake: On the last leg of Melanie's journey just before she enters Bodega Bay she's driving on a dirt road, but they dub in the sound of her tires screeching on pavement as she negotiates the turns.
