Factual error: When John is talking on the phone to someone who found a dog, he says something about Odie not being a hound dog, and how sure he was. Odie is part wirehair Dachshund (you can look it up - plus I own Dachshunds), which is from the hound breed.
Factual error: In the scene where Kevin is floating, eating a banana just before he is converted in a monster, the water begins to spin in a clockwise direction, but Kevin spins in the opposite direction. He should spin in the same direction as the water. (01:02:45)
Factual error: Why do the astronauts on Mars and the crew on Earth have the conversations as they do on the phone? A message sent from Earth would take about 20 minutes to arrive at Mars and vice-versa.
Factual error: During any British election, the Queen avoids making public appearances in order to avoid influencing the election turnout. She usually stays at Windsor castle and would not have hosted such events as the garden party.
Factual error: When Calvin and Co. are tying up Bittleman so they can get Calvin's shoes back, it shows highlights from the game that's being played at that very moment between Toronto and the Knights. It shows some highlights from Vince Carter, but one of these highlights was not from the game at all. It's his windmill dunk from the actual NBA 2003 dunk comp. Factual error: Alex Rover travels from San Francisco in a large plane to Borneo, then a small plane to Rarotonga, then a small boat to Tuvalu, then a helicopter to the Buccaneer cruise ship (located close enough to Nim's Island at 20S-162W for her to row there). My globe shows these places to generally be too far from one another given the particular mode of transport. Borneo and Tuvalu are too far out of the way to fit with this story.
Factual error: Professor Harold Hill asks the mothers of River City about their sons, "Is he starting to memorize jokes from 'Captain Billy's Whiz Bang?'" While the film is set in 1912, the first issue of the pulp magazine, "Captain Billy's Whiz Bang," did not appear until 1919. "Whiz Bang" was a term coined by soldiers in World War I (commencing in 1914), which referred to a rocket that "whizzed" by and exploded with a "bang." (00:20:00)
Factual error: The movie is set in the Middle Ages. Therefore, the traders who come to the Winterland to sell their goods must be quite ahead of their time to carry fairly modern lighters. (00:04:20)
Factual error: The storyline in Karate Kid 3, based on the happenings and reference points of the first two movies, is supposed to take place roughly about late 1984, or early 1985. However, if you look close at the beginning of the film when Terry Silver drops off John Kreese at the airport, there are several cars that are definitely later 80's models.
Factual error: The aircraft are definitely post-WWI. Biggles is flying a De Havilland Tiger Moth, which appeared in 1930s. The German fighter is probably the PT-23 Stearman.
Factual error: When Fat Albert and Reggie are racing around the school track, there are palm trees visible over Fat Albert's right shoulder in the background. The problem with that is the movie supposedly takes place in Philadelphia, PA.
Factual error: When Wilbur tosses Lewis onto the time machine, he should have broken or hit the glass covering the back half. And he is on all fours when the machine becomes visible, which shows he would have had his face hitting the driver seat, yet he scrambles back into the passenger seat without a problem, then is seen barely leaning forward to talk to Wilbur in the future.
Factual error: Although the movie is set in 1962, when Rodriguez jumps the fence of the junkyard, a red door from a '73-88 GM pickup can be seen in the background.
Factual error: When the family is beginning their trip, Bob has difficulty putting the RV in gear. We hear gears grinding despite the fact that the vehicle obviously has an automatic transmission (as evidenced by the column shifter). Automatic transmissions do not contain the same type of gearbox as manual transmissions, and it is impossible for an automatic to create a gear-grinding noise. (00:13:30)
Factual error: Near the end of the movie, Raul is telling the hunter to not kill the tigers. Throughout the scene, you can hear a bird call. The bird is a grebe. Grebes do not live in the jungle- they are only found near large bodies of water.
Factual error: In the drugstore scene where Mary whispers in George's bad ear, there are several shots showing a Coca-Cola thermometer on the wall where George hangs his jacket. This particular scene was to have taken place in 1919, but this particular thermometer wasn't produced until 1939.
Factual error: When Bunty is the first to test the 'thrust' with the elastic, she is attached to a rope, which winds on for metres and metres, attached to a post at the other end. Why then, does it take a second or two for Bunty to be flung from the roller skate (or whatever she was travelling on) from the point we see the rope at full taughtness?
Factual error: When Santa is shown the miniscule print on the 'Santa Clause' card (that he is supposed to be/get married) the Elf holds an enormous lens in front of it, to make it easier for Santa to read the print. From the distance Santa is standing at, from his point of view the card should appear upside down.
Factual error: In the scene where Waternoose and Sully are talking, Waternoose gets himself some "coffee", which is sludgy and thick and takes quite a while to pour from the machine. Seconds later, he takes a very quick sip. Since the liquid was so thick and there was little in the cup, it would be impossible for it to pour that fast.
Factual error: Sharks don't float when they're dead, they sink. While it did initially sink after being thrown out of the "casket", when the shot changes to Don Lino and Lenny consoling one another, you see him float back up. (00:33:50)
