Garfield: The Movie

Factual error: When John is talking on the phone to someone who found a dog, he says something about Odie not being a hound dog, and how sure he was. Odie is part wirehair Dachshund (you can look it up - plus I own Dachshunds), which is from the hound breed.

Factual error: Garfield enters the train control room at Los Angeles Union Station when the only employee in the room leaves the room. There would always be someone in this room when the trains are in operation.

Continuity mistake: When Odie comes out on the porch to keep Garfield company, his collar and tags are visible; even more so when he attempts to get back in. But when the shot pulls away to show Odie alone on the steps (before running off after the scooter), his collar is gone. Part of the plot hinges on Jon trying to find Odie, who wasn't wearing his tags.

Trivia: Bill Murray agreed to be in the film without reading the full script upon seeing the name "Joel Cohen" listed as a writer. It turns out he thought he was signing onto a film co-written by "Joel Coen" of the Coen Brothers fame. It wasn't until he began recording his lines sometime later that he realised his mistake.

Question: This is for the movie and the comics. Can Jon hear Garfield? I'm asking because in the comics, Jon responds to what Garfield says, but Garfield's speech is always in thought bubbles. But in the movie, Garfield's lips are moving. Can someone please explain?

Brad

Chosen answer: Jon makes educated guesses in the comics based on Garfield's body language and surroundings, he doesn't actually hear Garfield in either medium.
