Supernatural

Correction: The Scar is on his left shoulder throughout the series until it is removed. It is not shown on the right unless you're mistakingly seeing it as the right shoulder in the mirror shot at the beginning of the episode.

In the Beginning - S4-E3

Corrected entry: In the scene when John is talking to Mr. D in the diner, Mr. D tells John to "say hello to your old man for me." It is later revealed in season 8 that John's father left them when he was young. This is a mistake, unless Mr. D is referring to John's grandfather (unlikely). (00:04:40)

Correction: It's never mentioned what happened to John's mother. She could have remarried, and so it could be John's stepfather being referred to.

Annabel Keeley

Correction: This is an error with Netflix, not the show itself. The subtitles on the DVD say Cantonese.

Phantom Traveler - S1-E4

Corrected entry: When Dean and Sam enter the car, a microphone can be seen on Sam's side of the car (black with orange rim) and remains throughout the shot. (00:08:55)

Correction: That is the handle that controls the spotlights on their car, it is not a microphone, it is part of the car.

Hell House - S1-E17

Corrected entry: In the scene where Sam and Dean are getting coffee [right after Dean puts the itching powder in Sam's underwear], as the boy behind the counter hands Dean the coffee cup you can hear him say, "Here you go, Jensen. Jensen is actually the first name of the actor who plays Dean, 'Jensen Ackles'.

Correction: If you listen carefully, the man actually says "Here you go, gents." It says 'gents' in the subtitles too.

Bugs - S1-E8

Corrected entry: At The End of the episode, Dean and Sam pull up to the house to say goodbye. The moving truck has its back end facing the right, toward the front of the brothers' Impala. However, when they are driving away, heading straight without turning around, the moving truck is now facing in the opposite direction.

Correction: If you look at 39mins and 41 seconds. You can easily see that there are two moving trucks, facing opposite directions. So the truck they drive past would be the one facing the same way as the Impala.

Swap Meat - S5-E12

Corrected entry: Sam switches bodies with a 17 year old kid named Gary. NOTE: Sam has always been taller than Dean. When Dean and Gary (in Sam's body) are walking and talking, Dean looks down to talk to Gary. Since Gary is supposed to be in Sam's body, Dean should be looking slightly up. Also, when Dean finally listens to his voice-mail and hears Sam (in Gary's body) we hear Sam's voice. We should have been hearing Gary's.

Robert Sullinger

Correction: They made a valid choice to be accurate about eye contact between characters instead of accurate about gaze height. But the voice issue would make an excellent separate mistake.

Family Remains - S4-E11

Corrected entry: When the killer murders the dog she writes on the wall in the dog's blood "too late", but they said she was locked away her entire life so she wouldn't have known how to write or read. (00:16:35)

Liam612

Correction: Why not? People have been known to learn to read and write on their own.

Changing Channels - S5-E8

Corrected entry: Gabriel is referred to as an archangel. While that is a common misconception, and while Gabriel was one of the serafs, he was not the archangel. By definition, there can only be one archangel, and according to the Bible, that's Michael. You'd think Gabriel would be aware of that.

Correction: It is mentioned and/or implied in 'Supernatural' that there are, in fact, four archangels: Michael, Lucifer, Gabriel and Raphael. The show doesn't adhere to the Bible as we know it; it takes elements from it but the mythology of the show has its own course. Castiel even says during one episode, "Your Bible gets more wrong than it does right."

virtual-toast

Correction: In Season 3, Episode 13 Ghostfacers, it is established that ghosts can cause a "supernatural lockdown" meaning all exits are rendered useless (Doors and windows won't open and most likely can't be broken open/down either). They probably realized this was something similar and didn't even bother knowing it would be useless.

Shannon Jackson

Correction: Plausible possibilities are that the odometer doesn't work, or had been replaced at some time *because* it wasn't working. I've had two cars where the odometer either quit working, or only worked intermittently, and they weren't as old as the Impala. Or the odometer only has 5 numbers on it, and rolled over after it hit 99,999 miles.

Phantom Traveler - S1-E4

Corrected entry: When Sam is on the plane searching for the demon, he is told to say the word 'Christo', as demons will flinch at the name of God (said in Latin). 'Christo' is the Latin word for Christ, not God. God in Latin is 'Deus'.

Correction: Since it's a reference to Christian spirituality, the name of Christ is the name of one of the three persons of the Christian Trinity (God). For example, Mary, Jesus Christ's mother, is called "Mother of God" by most Christian traditions ever since the Nestorian controversy (and as the reference is in Latin, the show is almost definitely referencing Catholic Christian theology, which would affirm this).

That is correct and we've seen them use other forms of Catholicism methods and traditions throughout the show. For example, holy water and cross symbols. However, as the show develops we see the main characters begin to incorporate pre-Christian ideologies to fight the demons. One ideology is the actual name of God which the Catholic Church omitted when they used the Trinity to assimilate pagan tribes. Every place where the original Hebrew name for God was had been replaced with 'Lord' and they did the same for Jesus. So terms like 'Cristo' and 'Deus' are titles. Not names. Which is horribly confusing. All in all, the whole "mention God's name and the demon should flinch" then give a title and not a name at all is just pure laziness on the writers and general censorship. In scriptures, usually mentioning the Messiah at all made demons nervous (the book of Matthew has an account on that). However the main controversy is the pronunciation of the tetragrammatron (YHWH) which has been lost because in Hebrew tradition, one didn't take the name of God lightly. It was sacred. So the argument that usually follows is if no one has the actual pronunciation, is it necessary to use it or even acknowledge it. My personal response to that is, if it's in the Bible, it's probably important regardless.

Death Takes a Holiday - S4-E15

Corrected entry: Sam and Dean Astro-Project out of their bodies so that they can see and save a Reaper. They are out of their bodies, walking down a street as ghosts, but their breath is visible due to the cold weather outside. Ghosts have no body to generate warm or hot breath.

Robert Sullinger

Correction: First, it's astral projection, not Astro-projection. Second, ghosts are not proven to exist, as such we don't know their physical or spiritual characteristics well enough to judge if the have body heat or not. Some reports of supposed ghost phenomenon have reported cold spots in rooms, some as hot spots in rooms. Seemingly contradictory, but just more evidence that we don't really know what they are supposed to be like in characteristics.

Bloodlines - S9-E20

Corrected entry: The shapeshifters change appearances in the blink of an eye, but throughout the rest of the series shapeshifters shed their skin and the change takes several minutes.

brianjr0412

Correction: The shifter in this episode is of a purer bloodline, so he doesn't need to shed. Just like the alpha.

Where does it say that it is pure bloodline or that a pure bloodline shifts differently?

brianjr0412

Playthings - S2-E11

Corrected entry: When Sam is throwing up in the bathroom, his right hand is on the toilet and the cast is not on. In the rest of the show, his right hand is in a cast.

Correction: It's Dean looking at Sam's reflection in the mirror. It's clear when you see the scene with Dean in it. The cast in on the other arm.

Red Meat - S11-E17

Corrected entry: When Sam and Dean are asking the bartender about the four missing hikers, they all look at a flier that says "for missing hikers". (00:05:00)

Correction: The page is cut off, as evident from the layout - the headline is most likely "Search For Missing Hikers" or similar.

Dean Winchester: Come on man. I know Sam, ok? Better than anyone. He's got more of a conscience than I do. I mean the guy feels guilty searching the internet for porn.

Show generally

Question: Not long after first meeting angels, it is established that they do not have genitals, or "junk" as Dean puts it. But in S06E10 Castiel gets an erection while watching porn and in S08E22, Castiel is required to kill a nephilim, the offspring of an angel and a human. If angels do not have genitals how are these two things possible?

Answer: Angels themselves may not have genitalia, but their vessels do. Nephilim occur when an angel in a vessel reproduces.
