Continuity mistake: When Mac notices the blood on DJ Francais' shoe and shines his flashlight at Francais, Francais holds up his left hand to shield his face in one shot, but in the next shot, he's holding up his right hand. (00:10:10)
Continuity mistake: When Rikki Sandoval offers Danny the bowl of sugar, Danny takes the top off with his right hand. In the following shot, his hand is down by his side and the jar top is back on the jar. (00:36:20)
Continuity mistake: When Mac chases Suspect X into the construction site, X takes cover behind a pillar and fires her gun at Mac with one hand. In the next shot she's suddenly out in the open, holding her gun with two hands. (00:37:55)
Character mistake: As Peyton is examining the body and reporting her findings to Danny at the beginning of the episode, Mac picks up a credit card he deducts was used to open the door, but he isn't wearing gloves; this would compromise the evidence even if by holding it by the edges he preserved the prints.
Factual error: The episode has a character in it called Klaus Braun ("Braun" being the German word for "brown"). However, all of the characters pronounce his surname wrong, saying the "au" like the "or" in "bored", not the proper German pronunciation, which would in fact, be the same as the English meaning, "Brown". Other German character's names were pronounced correctly, and surely Klaus/Abraham would object to having his name pronounced incorrectly.
Not What It Looks Like - S3-E2
Revealing mistake: After Danny breaks the glass in the lab allegedly using sound waves, you can see in the shot immediately after the glass breaks, a thin green laser beam from roughly further top left to near bottom right. It's assumed this is what actually broke the glass.
Nothing for Something - S7-E20
Continuity mistake: In the coffee shop, Don & Mac are having breakfast; Raymond arrives, looks down at Mac's belt & sees his gun & badge beside each other on his right hip. A minute later, after Raymond leaves, Mac exits the coffee shop looking for Raymond; his badge has jumped to the opposite side of his belt. (00:09:30)
Continuity mistake: In the opening recap of Danny and Shane Casey, the events that unfold are completely discontinuous with what happened in the season 6 finale.
Chosen answer: Probably to broaden the scope of the show's plot and give the audience a chance to see the characters in a different setting, People act differently at home from the way they do at their workplace. By the ninth season, the characters would have become overly familiar and predictable. It gives the writers a chance to do something different with them.
