CSI: Crime Scene Investigation

4 x 4 - S5-E19

Revealing mistake: Season 5 Episode 4X4. When Warrick and the young coroner are examining the dead woman in the RV, look closely as you can see her blink.

Cross-Jurisdictions - S2-E22

Revealing mistake: When the CSI from Miami and Catherine are in the autopsy, the guy goes to take a sample from the eyes of the dead woman. When he moves the swab towards her eye, you can see the actress' top eyelid move instinctively. She's supposed to have been dead for hours.

Boom - S1-E13

Revealing mistake: At the end of the episode, Grissom pins the newspaper article about the security guard's death onto the bulletin board and the camera zooms in on it. The article is three paragraphs long, however it is the same paragraph of text repeated three times. (A DVD player with a zoom feature can confirm this.) (00:44:30)

Paper or Plastic - S4-E14

Revealing mistake: In the scene where the CSI team first arrive at the crime scene and Grissom is taking photos, the first photo he takes, you can see that the victim's eyelids flutter a bit and his belly is seen contracting, a clear sign of breathing.

The Strip Strangler - S1-E23

Revealing mistake: Ribbons is talking to Grissom and Nick in the autopsy room, and the latest post autopsy female lies on the table. Grissom says, "He choked her unconscious, and brought her..." and when the shot faces her head and shoulders, watch her neck - you can see the veins in her neck pumping. (00:06:45)

Bodies in Motion - S6-E1

Revealing mistake: At the end of the episode when Grissom and Archie are listening to the tape from Nick's kidnapping, the screen shows the audio being played. While the audio obviously changes, the lines that sketch what the sound would "look" like don't. In order for the sounds to be different, the lines would have to change too.

Identity Crisis - S2-E13

Revealing mistake: After Grissom finds Isabelle Millander dead in her chair, he walks towards the bathroom. When the shot changes, you can see her shift her legs even though she's supposed to be dead.

Snakes - S5-E12

Revealing mistake: When Warrick takes out the contents of the wallet, he removes a few 100 dollar bills. If you look carefully, you can see on the top bill it says "For Motion Picture Use Only."

Lab Rats - S7-E20

Revealing mistake: As the phone number 702-555-0192 is supposedly dialed, you can hear in the sound overlay that the last two digits dialed on the touchtone keypad were the same two digits. Then it shows a close-up of the cell phone dialing the above number.

Show generally

Factual error: In a number of episodes people are shown eating and drinking in the laboratories. For instance, in "Miss Willows' Regrets" Nick and Greg are seen eating fried chicken in the lab, and in "Overload" Sara eats a sandwich while watching Grissom experiment with her deli pickle. There are other examples. No reputable laboratory (which this is supposed to be) would allow its staff to eat or drink while in the lab. It is basic scientific protocol to prevent contamination of samples or the person picking up toxins on their food.

Sounds of Silence - S1-E20

Trivia: For those who don't (or can't) read American Sign Language, at the end of the episode, Grissom says to Dr. Gilbet is that his mother lost her hearing when she was eight years old. He once asked her what is it like to be deaf, and she told Grissom (who loved to swim) that it was like being underwater. She also taught him that being deaf does not make one inferior to others. Dr. Gilbert then replies that she teaches her students the same lesson.

Play with Fire - S3-E22

Question: Why would Catherine take the blame for the lab explosion? If anyone was to blame it was Hodges. Since he accidentally turned on the hot plate and even admits that sometimes it gets switched on by others accidentally, if he had bothered to make sure he didn't switch it on before leaving the room, the explosion never would have happened.
