Corrected entry: Alice claims in the film that her arm has healed, but when she comes back up the rabbit hole, her arm is still scratched. Later, when she is in the study, her arm is once again not only scratched but it also appears even more injured and inflamed.

Correction: She never claimed it was healed, but the saliva from the Bandersnatch stopped the infection and began the healing process. The wounds were still healing - still a bit red but not infected anymore - when she returned from Underland.

Toy Story 2 (1999)

Corrected entry: When Rex tells Buzz 2 about how to defeat Zurg, Buzz makes 'notes' on his "computer" on his arm, and it starts to make beeping noises. It is really a sticker and therefore shouldn't be making any beeping noises.

Correction: It was a sticker on the original Buzz Lightyear. Remember that this is an updated version, they may have added beeping noises when the computer panel is pressed.

Shutter Island (2010)

Corrected entry: I think the the narrator tells us that Shutter Island is located in Boston Harbor and also that it is eleven miles off the coast! A harbor 11 miles off the coast? please.

Correction: Boston Harbor is divided into an inner harbor and outer harbor, which extends several miles out into the Atlantic Ocean. Islands far off the Boston Coast are considered to be in the outer harbor area.

BocaDavie

Correction: This movie is not narrated whatsoever.

jshy7979

Corrected entry: Near the end of the movie, Paul Newman is seen descending the stairwell and avoiding fire as is extends from one of the doorways. Unfortunately he is using the metal handrail with his bare hands but it doesn't seem to be very hot.

Correction: The fire from the doorway does not come in contact with the handrail anywhere near the places that Roberts is touching it. And for all we know it could be very hot; just not hot enough to burn his hands.

BocaDavie

Corrected entry: In the security room. The security guard shouts out "there's something on 81","On 65 the whole reception area is on fire",and "What's she doing on 87?" Now in 1974 when the movie was made. The security systems were not like they are now. You still had night watchmen, and watchclock stations. Besides that there was nothing identifying what the view screens were monitoring.

johnp

Correction: In 1975 you might not have the on-screen display of what floor you were looking at; the buttons that you press to bring up a display would be labeled to indicate which view you were selecting. As for the staffing and knowledge of the security room, it was the grand opening of the tallest building on the west coast, we'll have to assume that the security room and guards functioned as they're shown in the film.

The Abyss (1989)

Corrected entry: When the alien city (ARK) is rising to the surface, the deep core ship is right next to it, but when the city is above the water the oil rig (deep core ship) is on top of it near the center which is impossible. (Special Edition Version.) (02:39:05 - 02:41:05)

bourne218

Correction: The aliens can manipulate the movement of water and everything in it. You see the alien city rising next to the ridge, then off-camera they move the oil rig on top.

BocaDavie

Corrected entry: When Percy, Grover, and Annabeth go to meet Hades, they find his wife Persephone with him. This is impossible, as Persephone only lives in the Underworld during the winter seasons and the movie is repeatedly proved to take place during the summer. In Greek mythology and The Lightning Thief, the seasons are caused because her mother, Demeter, is sad that she is away from her daughter and causes the crops to wither.

bookies

Correction: 1 - this is a modern interpretation of Greek Mythology, there are several departures from the classical Greek myths. 2 - it's always winter somewhere. The ancient Greeks wrote all mythology centered around their own culture and immediate surroundings. Through the centuries Persephone may have left Greece and settled somewhere in the southern hemisphere.

Avatar (2009)

Corrected entry: During Jake and Neytiri's "mate for life" scene, after their first kiss you can see that their queues (neural-interface hair braids) are connected. This is how the Na'vi mate for life. It does not, however, lead to reproduction.

Dusso Janladde

Correction: This is not mentioned anywhere in the film; for all we know DNA could be passed along through their braids. Please provide the basis for your submission. If there's nothing to prove it then the submitter is just making a general assumption on the Na'vi anatomy.

Avatar (2009)

Corrected entry: Just before Jake and Neytiri go to the Tree of Voices, there is a shot of Polyphemus (the planet that Pandora orbits) visibly rotating. It is impossible for a planet to rotate this fast, and it is not seen to visibly rotate anywhere else in the movie.

Correction: It is a complete assumption to say that a planet cannot rotate at that speed. In a world where mountains can float we will have to accept that almost anything is possible, including a planet that can rotate at varying speeds; there are extraordinary gravitational forces at work in this system.

BocaDavie

Corrected entry: The cooling vents on the back of the DeLorean change between silver and black throughout the film. A clear example of this is the first landing scene of the DeLorean in the alley in 2015.

Correction: It's not silver, it's frost. The car freezes whenever it goes forward in time.

BocaDavie

Corrected entry: When Marty and Doc successfully save Marty's son from going to prison in 2015, the USA Today headline spontaneously changes while Marty holds it. If this is possible, then, when Biff steals the DeLorean to deliver the almanac to his younger self, Marty and Doc's memories would be instantly replaced by those of the alternate 1985 - which would mean that Marty would not be baffled by bars on his windows or locks on his gate when he arrives back home there. In fact, they wouldn't have returned to that house at all.

Correction: Throughout the course of the three films physical objects change but Doc and Marty retain the bulk of their memories from alternate time lines, apparently protected from time line changes. Since it's all science fiction we'll have to assume it works the way it is shown in the film.

BocaDavie

I would add that there seems to be a proportional relation between the historical event being altered and when the change takes root. Thirty years between alteration and changed result seems to take nearly a week. The event of the arrest and trial is only a day (two at most) in the future. Thus, presto-changeo.

The newspaper regarding George McFly changes after less than a minute as well, and that paper was published in 1973, so some doubt about the proportionality idea there.

Space Cowboys (2000)

Corrected entry: During the landing, the shuttle is coming in too hot, and the Flight Controller remarks that he (Frank) has fried his antenna. How, then, could he talk to the chase planes when he gets lower? Without an antenna he would not be able to hear or talk to them.

Correction: This is a question, not a mistake. The chase planes are only a few hundred yards away; it would not require the main antenna to transmit to them.

BocaDavie

Corrected entry: Just after Arnie says "Hasta La Vista, baby" he shoots the frozen Robert Patrick in the steelworks, right after he shatters the camera cuts to him being shattered again as though this first cut didnt exist. Surely someone would have noticed this big of a jump cut, or perhaps was this done to emphasis the shattering?

Chad_Bronson

Correction: This is a question, not a mistake. It is a standard movie convention to replay an action shot from another angle.

BocaDavie

Correction: Not a mistake. This is a technique. They do this a lot in Hard Target.

Toy Story (1995)

Corrected entry: When Woody gets into the moving van and opens the box of toys, they react to the box being opened by complaining or shielding their eyes from the sun etc. However, if it was Andy's mom or one of the moving employees instead of Woody, wouldn't they have given away the whole "Toys are alive" thing?

Correction: This is a question, not a mistake. The toys seem to have a keen sense of when humans are around; they always seem to know when one is approaching.

Star Trek (2009)

Corrected entry: On the Narada attack on Vulcan, immediately after the red matter bomb enters the hole previously drilled, Kirk reports this to the Enterprise. In that shot, there is a shockwave seen leaving the hole as if the bomb had detonated, but considering the hole was drilled to the planet's core, it would take (substantially) longer for the bomb to reach Vulcan's core. If the bomb was an adapted torpedo and the shockwave its thruster kick-starting, it doesn't make much sense to have used it first as a drop bomb and then a torpedo (should have been fired, not "dropped") - note that the shockwave appears seconds after entry; plus the fact that the planet's interior is liquid magma, so making a "hole" to its core doesn't make sense since it would be instantly closed.

Correction: All assumptions, unfortunately. We have no idea how this particular bomb works, if it has a first stage cut-off that propels the red matter through the magma or if an explosive thruster kicks in at a certain depth. As is the case with all science fiction technology, unless you can prove that it is impossible we will just have to accept that the device works in the manner seen on screen. Whatever does not make sense with this particular weapon could be explained by the special handling that red matter requires; the same reason that the stuff could not just be transported to Vulcan's core.

Iron Man (2008)

Corrected entry: At the beginning of the film Tony Stark's Hummer is ambushed. When the soldier sitting to Stark's left leaves the vehicle, closes the door and is immediately shot, many of the rounds fired at him puncture holes in the side of the car. If these rounds were powerful enough to punch holes through a flack jacket, the soldier's body and a car door, how is it that Tony Stark leaves the Hummer completely unscathed considering how close he is sitting to the holes they made? Given the distribution of the holes in the side of the car, he would almost certainly have been riddled with bullets and killed.

aaj123

Correction: "Almost certainly" is not a mistake. As improbable as it seems, the bullets missed him. Since we cannot prove the trajectory of the bullets or that he was directly in their path, it is impossible to say that he must have been hit.

BocaDavie

Corrected entry: When Bond comes back to the surface after diving down to the Devonshire we see some islands very close behind in the background. First, these would definitely have shown up on Devonshire's radar, and second, those islands are not 11 miles away.

Jacob La Cour

Correction: The Chinese coast is 11 miles away, not the islands. With the GPS sabatoged the Devonshire obviously thought those were different islands - further out at sea. Either way, their attention was monopolized by the approaching MIGs.

Monsters, Inc. (2001)

Corrected entry: The monster that operates the doors for Randall, has legs that bend back like a bird's, but in the shot when Sulley saves Mike from the scream-extractor and puts that monster where Mike was, he is sitting down and his legs bend forward. (00:14:00 - 00:54:05)

Correction: Fungus obviously has double-jointed legs, quite possible considering the diversity of monster oddities.

BocaDavie

He is also sitting with knees forward when operating the machine while Boo is in it.

Speed (1994)

Corrected entry: When Jack ask the driver to write "Bomb On Bus" you can see it was written so neatly. But it's impossible to write that neatly when the car is swerving on the freeway.

Correction: It was not written that neatly, and the vehicle was not swerving through the whole scene. During the time that the letter is being written the vehicle drives straight for several seconds as it is keeping pace with the bus. The one big swerve the car makes is when he drops the note (after it is written) and it lands on the windshield of the bus.

Avatar (2009)

Corrected entry: Near the end, where Neytiri has just put on the real Jake's mask, he holds his hand to her cheek. The hands are the same size.

Correction: Neytiri's hand is slightly larger; the sizes are consistant with their species. Neytiri is over nine feet tall, Jake is about six feet tall; the difference in the lengths of their fingers would be less than an inch.
