The Punisher (1989)

Trivia: Director Mark Goldblatt wanted to make this movie as far removed from the comic as possible, mostly just using Frank Castle's back story and loss of his family as a way to make a gritty revenge action movie. Wanting to lean away from the aesthetics and lore of the Marvel universe for his film, he did not include Punisher's iconic skull logo on his shirt in this version of the character, believing his black spandex suit would not translate well to live action. Years later, Goldblatt has expressed regret for this decision, believing had he incorporated the Punisher skull into the character's costume and marketing, it would likely have sold many more tickets.

The Punisher (1989)

Trivia: This film got a theatrical release in 1989 in most countries except for Sweden, South Africa and the US. It wouldn't be until 1991 that it saw a VHS and laser disc release in the US for home video. Part of the reason why it didn't get a theatrical release in the US is due to Lundgren's film Red Scorpion being a box office flop, leading to producers not believing he could lead as an action star and draw in an audience.

Trivia: The image/symbol of the Xenomorph on the floor of the sacrificial chamber is the same or similar to the symbol used in the marketing of Alien 3 and seen on the movie's cover and posters. This same symbol is also on the necklaces of the people being sacrificed, seen both in the flashbacks of them lying down, and sometimes visible on the decayed corpses in the modern time of the movie. Trivia: The Alien Queen in Aliens was not able to be built how originally intended due to the limitations at the time. However, with this film, Anderson was fully able to have created the full Alien Queen that James Cameron had originally envisioned—15 feet tall with an 8-foot head and 47 points of articulation. It was more sophisticated than the T-Rex from Jurassic Park and took 8 people controlling it.

Trivia: The helicopter approaches an ice breaker ship called the Piper Maru. This is named after the X-Files episode of the same name, which also had an ice breaker ship called the Piper Maru, which in that show was named after Gillian Anderson's daughter. Coincidentally, Lance Henriksen, who is a main character in this movie, also appeared in X-Files and got his own spin-off show as well, Millennium. (00:06:42)

Trivia: For the title screen, the title of the film Alien vs Predator is first spelled out in the Yautja (Predator race) language. Then it changes to the green text from Mother in the first Alien movie, as a way of having the title shown in a style from both franchises. (00:00:42)

Trivia: At one point, based on the comics, a spec script was written by Peter Briggs and was going to be directed by Guillermo del Toro. However, they both opted out of the film to go write and direct Hellboy. That original script was shelved, but not lost as it was repurposed and used to make the Alien vs Predator arcade game instead, with a different script then written for this film.

Trivia: The enemy type, the "Blue Milk Mushrooms," are likely inspired by the real-life Indigo Milk Cap mushroom (Lactarius indigo). This unusual fungus is known for releasing a bright blue, milk-like liquid when cut, making the in-game name a direct nod to real natural mushrooms like this.

Trivia: This short film animation is based around the Greek legend of Persephone and Hades, though using the Roman name for him as Pluto. They leave out the fact that Pluto/Hades and she are blood relatives, with Pluto/Hades actually being Persephone's uncle. They also conflate Pluto with the Christian devil, Satan, and the underworld looking like depictions of Hell.

Trivia: This short was used as the testing grounds by Walt Disney and his team for the realistic and fluid animations for the people moving around that they would later use and perfect for Snow White. A lot of the aesthetics of this short very closely resemble what Snow White would become, as well as a lot of the animal designs and motions resemble what would also become Bambi.

Trivia: In the film, they find their dog dead next to the house. However, in the real story this is based on, the dog actually died at their previous home. It was a bad neighbour boy who broke into their previous house and wound up killing their dog. Andrea jumped on the boy and was screaming she was going to kill him until the family pulled her off. This is supposedly the reason the family moved in the first place to the house this film is set at.

Trivia: This film was so poorly received that creator Akira Toriyama was reportedly offended by how badly it represented his story. This spurred him to return to the franchise, personally writing story outlines for Battle of Gods (2013) and Resurrection 'F' (2015), which in turn led to the creation of Dragon Ball Super. In a strange twist, the most hated Dragon Ball movie revived the series. So hate this movie all you want, it is because this movie exists that we got Super and the Dragon Ball revival.

Trivia: There's a secret on Bonus Stage 2. If you time the jumps right on the second part of the stage and go up high on top of the cave instead of going through it, there is a black hand-shaped monster. It doesn't do anything, but once you find it, you will never be able to find it again as it only appears once. And once you restart the game, you will be met with new title screen music.

Trivia: When in Edenor's Tavern, you can buy a regular beer for 5 coins with any character and it will say "You pay for the beer and drink it." and that's it. However, if you do this with the two special characters you can buy from the shop, you get an additional text box. For Azure, who is made of water, it will say "But it dissolves in your body." and if you do it with Haskell, who is made of fire, it will say "But it evaporates before it touches your mouth."

Trivia: Megaman 3 is the game where sliding was introduced. There was a point in development where they considered letting Megaman crouch, but they decided that the player wouldn't really see much difference in the shot placements when crouched. So they went with a sliding mechanic idea instead.

Trivia: Megaman 1 was actually a failure at launch, and Capcom did not want to make a sequel. However, after pushing from the dev team, they agreed to greenlight Megaman 2, but only if the developers continued to work on their other projects. So they only worked on this game in their spare time and only had 3 to 4 months to finish the game. Then, after it was released, it went on to be the best-selling Megaman game until finally being surpassed by Megaman 11 many years later.
