Fast & Furious (2009)

Corrected entry: During the opening chase scene, Dom's Grand National starts with an all-black grille, then it's chrome, then goes back to all-black.

rswarrior

Correction: There are a few shots where the very glossy black paint reflects a lot of sunlight, but after checking the entire chase scene frame-by-frame, there is no shot anywhere of the Buick with a chrome grille nor grille frame.

District 9 (2009)

Corrected entry: In the movie it is stated that around one million aliens are ferried off of the mothership into camps on the ground. Presumably this occurs in helicopters or some other light air transport that can actually land on the ship. Considering that light aircraft can carry very limited loads, and that the stated purpose of the MNU incursion was to obtain weapons technology, it does not make sense that they would allow the aliens to bring technology and weapons with them to the camps. Further, since the aliens were not allowed to travel to most parts of the city or hold jobs like humans, it seems impossible that they would be able to obtain the raw materials and tools to construct advanced heavy weapons, mechs, and shuttles (!) in the camps.

machinus

Correction: News footage shows the shuttle dropped from the mothership early on and buried itself, clearly an emergency procedure of some kind. It is certainly large enough to carry a compliment of weapons and other needed equipment. The weapons and shuttle were not created in the camp.

Twilight (2008)

Corrected entry: During the Volleyball scene on Bella's first day, when she hits Mike Newton's head, look closely, in the background a little girl runs across the court, she must be about 8. In high school? Perhaps one of the crew's kid?

Correction: Or a child that lives very near the school that happened by? Or is visiting the school of her teen sibling with a parent who is occupied inside and left her to play outside? The film doesn't indicate the child IS a student there, and a child in the area isn't a mistake all by itself.

Watchmen (2009)

Corrected entry: On one of the bottom left monitors in Ozymandias' lair, during one of the earliest scenes where we see him watching them, the film "Mars Attacks" is playing, which came out in 1996.

Correction: In our timeline, it did indeed. But this is an altered timeline so events and their times can and are subtly or radically different.

Watchmen (2009)

Corrected entry: In the scene where Dr. Manhattan is visible only as a circulatory system (after the accident where Jon Osterman is locked into a test chamber and caught in an "Intrinsic Field Subtractor" in 1959) we can see that he has pupils in the eyes, while normally he doesn't.

Correction: "Normally" being the point. He is in mid-transformation and we can't know his pupils would not be visible at this point. In fact, since we see them, we know they are indeed visible at this time.

Watchmen (2009)

Corrected entry: When Silk Spectre gets teleported to Mars to meet with Dr. Manhattan, she struggles to breathe in the Martian atmosphere until Dr. Manhattan creates an "oxygen bubble" around them. A person on Mars completely exposed like that would die a most horrid death within seconds, their blood literally boiling almost instantly. And yet Silk Spectre is totally fine after the oxygen bubble is placed around her.

Correction: The submitter's mistake uses junk science. A human exposed to the Martian atmosphere (mostly carbon dioxide) will slowly suffocate as shown in the film. No death in seconds, no blood boiling - that only happens in the movies!

Corrected entry: During the car chase Bond makes a wrong turn and ends up at the wrong side of the river. He corrects his mistake by using a collapsed bridge to jump across the river. A few shots later you see that three police cars following Bond made the same mistake. However, they arrive only a few seconds after Bond at the place where Scaramanga is changing his car into an airplane. It's very unlikely that they all jumped across the river.

Correction: The original three black-and-white police cars come to a stop after the gray '55 Chevy crashes and turns over, and the police all exit their vehicles. The police cars seen later on the wrong side of the river may or may not be the same three. But the ones that arrive at the end of the chase are definitely not the same three cars as the originals because two of these three are red-and-white. As such, there are at least 5 and as many as 9 police cars involved in the chase, only 3 of which we see at any one time.

The Dark Knight (2008)

Corrected entry: When Harvey is set on fire, he put his hand directly into the fire for about 3 seconds, but both his hand and sleeve are unaffected (no burns - even minor ones).

Correction: He was rolling around and moving his hand into/out of the licking flames. This can be harmless so long as the hand is kept moving enough to not allow any portion to become over-heated. This is an old barbeque & campfire stunt folks do all the time. I once waved my arm through tall flames for nearly a half-minute and had no skin or clothing damage at all.

Bullitt (1968)

Corrected entry: To see the two takes of the chase going down the stepped hill, watch the silver-blue Cadillac, in the intersection. During one take, the first time we get to see a few frames of the yellow cab, the Cadillac does not move. The last we see of the chase through this same intersection, the Cadillac comes to a screeching halt, as the Charger passes through the intersection.

Correction: The earlier camera angle obscures the Cadillac's movement, but the stunt is the same action filmed from multiple angles simultaneously (and shown to us at different times to fake that it's happening again), so no difference can possibly exist.

Vanishing Point (1997)

Corrected entry: During the final chase scene, Kowalski pulls away from the pursuing police, and builds up quite a lead. On one of the scenes with the Challenger approaching, you can see there are no police cars close behind him, yet, when he slams on the brakes and stops, the police cars arrive right behind him, with not enough time for the police to have caught up to him. (01:24:05 - 01:25:00)

Correction: The road is a series of rises and dips and the shot(s) where the pursuers aren't seen are when they are obscured by the dips while the Challenger isn't.

Vanishing Point (1997)

Corrected entry: The Charger is referred to as a "class one show car." Yet it has an aftermarket stereo cassette deck. For it to be a true class one show car, it would need to have the original audio equipment. (00:11:05)

Correction: I've seen classic show cars that, at shows, had their original radios, but between shows, the radio was swapped out for something more modern. Not a hard or lengthy job at all.

Taps (1981)

Corrected entry: When Major Moreland walks into the armory, he is informed that because of the shooting, the local sheriff has ordered the confiscation of all arms on school property. This is a violation of both the 4th amendment (no person shall be deprived of life, liberty or property w/out due process of law) and the 2nd amendment (the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed) of the U.S. Constitution. The local sheriff would not have had the authority to issue such an order.

Correction: These weapons are not the private property of the cadets, but of the academy, and while the sheriff's authority to seize them may be technically illegal, he can still order it and suffer the legal challenges that might follow. He would do so in favor of securing the weapons to prevent further escalation in local tensions and the possibility of additional shootings (like the convoy incident), temporarily at the very least, and at least until higher authorities can step up and settle the situation.

The Dark Knight (2008)

Corrected entry: In the beginning of the bank heist scene, the Joker is standing on a street corner with a clown mask in his hand. As the van pulls up he puts the mask over his face. Later, he takes the mask off and is shown wearing makeup. This means that while standing on the street corner without the mask on, his makeup would have been visible to the public.

Correction: And if true, he'd have been a guy, standing on a corner with clown make-up on. An odd, quirky sight in a large, densely populated city like Gotham, but nothing that would necessarily alarm anyone as his intentions weren't known yet. His presence might be something like a man, wearing only his underwear, standing in the middle of Times Square, New York, playing a guitar- which today is a 'normal', well-known sight, but is still odd enough to make many people look twice. No mistake.

Pilot - S1-E1

Corrected entry: At the end of the episode, just before Sarah, John and Cameron travel to the future, Sarah blasts Cromartie and you can see his head fly off. In this episode, Cameron reveals that Cromartie has traveled to the future along with them by pointing out his bare endoskeleton head in the background of the video that was taken of them just after they arrive in the future. It is supposed to be impossible for anything non-biological to time travel, so why is it that Cromartie's head made it through even though it was missing the surrounding living tissue? (00:01:40)

Correction: Cromartie's head is launched into the time vortex when still (mostly) covered by flesh. This, combined with its motion (as opposed to the standing position of the other three) may have affected how his head was treated by the device. Also, this time travel device in the vault is not the same as the one in the future, but is built by soldiers sent back to the 1960s to construct it. As such, it is possible a slight, unintended variation in materials, preparation or construction can have allowed for this to occur. Essentially, there are many differences between this event and those shown in the three films, any one of which could account for what happens.

Alien (1979)

Corrected entry: In the scene where Bret is confronted by the alien in the landing gear bay, we see the alien 'unfolding' from a vent using backward folding bird-like legs. In every other scene the alien has forward bending, human-like legs. (01:07:30)

Correction: You're misidentifying one of two shots. The Alien begins above Bret inside the vent. The tail lowers to the floor first, to act as support for it's bodyweight. The tops of its feet are on the vent's floor at the entrance. Without the tail, it could not hold this position- it would just fall to the floor. It then lowers itself (using the tail), feet remaining on the edge of the vent entrance. When we see the side view of its head slowly lifting, we see its arms lower to reach for Bret. It kills him, then drags him into the vent (his body isn't found when Parker arrives). What you believe are backward knees are either the alien's ankles on the vent edge, or the lowering arms soon after.

Alien (1979)

Corrected entry: When Ripley is setting the ship's self-destruct mechanism she goes to a panel in the floor. In this panel there are four holes with four screws next to them. When she inserts the first screw she has to manually lift up the cylinder to activate it. It also makes a sound as it is lifted. After she inserts the screw into the second cylinder it cuts to a view in front of her. The cylinder makes the same sound as it raises, but Ripley is not lifting this one. Her arms are doing nothing. When she activates the last cylinder she once again has to lift it up manually by the inserted screw. Based on the design of the mechanism it is apparent that all four cylinders have to be manually lifted, but Ripley does not lift the second cylinder. It lifts itself. (01:35:30)

luchador

Correction: She tugs at the first, but this doesn't mean it needs her to. The second rises on it's own, making the same sound. The third is shown having risen without making the sound like the first two as she screws the last one in. She's never shown pulling the third or fourth, and the fourth is never shown rising. There's no consistency between any two of the four, so we don't know if it isn't shown exactly as it's supposed to work.

Alien (1979)

Corrected entry: When Ripley goes down to check out how Brett and Parker are doing with the repairs, she says: "Don't worry Parker. (pause) You'll get whatever's coming to you." In the short pause between these two sentences, you can hear Ripley say something like "You have". It seems to be a wrong line which has been deleted, but not properly. (00:22:05)

Correction: Her voice simply dropped out on 'Yeah", as in "Don't worry, Parker - yeah, you'll get whatever's coming to you."

Alien (1979)

Corrected entry: In the infirmary scene where Ash, Dallas, and Ripley are looking for the facehugger that has detached itself from Kane, just at the moment when Ripley is looking under the table where Kane is lying, Dallas is empty-handed, he knocks something over and gives Ripley a fright and says sorry while at the same time holding a light in his right hand that was not there a second or two earlier. (00:47:35)

Correction: He knocks over the container when he picks up the light.

2nd Aug 2008

Alien (1979)

Corrected entry: Just before landing, Dallas orders the Navigation lights turned on and we see rows of lights lighting up on Nostromo's belly. After landing, Dallas orders the flood lights turned on and we switch again to Nostromo's unlit belly (that should already be lit up with the nav lights) and we see the same rows of lights turned on again.

Correction: The rows of belly lights are seen lit before Dallas requests "navigation lights". Immediately after the order, the four large lamps at the rear of the ship are on (making those the "navigation lights"). The ship then has a very rough landing, taking significant damage (alarms, gas leaks, failing lights), and the next exterior shot shows all outside lights have gone off. After quite a bit of time (and repairs), Dallas requests the flood lights, and the rows of small lights turn on, which makes those the "flood lights".

The Dark Knight (2008)

Corrected entry: During the convoy scene, The Joker's men are set up to ambush the police copters. how would they know where to set up? Even with inside info from dirty cops, they couldn't know where the driver would detour and resurface to street level.

Correction: The detour was forced by the burning fire truck, which funneled the convoy onto Lower 5th Street where the attack began. Being an underground roadway, exits would be limited, so if only one or two turns off are possible plus an exit at the end, Joker only needs to have his guys covering those three possibilities. Had the convoy not been diverted onto the lower roadway, it would've had far more options for escape, but the roadblock worked.
