Revealing mistake: In a close-up of Captain Willard's face as he reads about Kurtz' "Operation Archangel" the sweat droplets on the band-aid are exactly the same as the droplets on his skin. The droplets were obviously sprayed on his face as Band-aids don't sweat. (01:02:50)

Continuity mistake: As they start to eat with General Corman there's a hat hanging on a cabinet behind and to the right of the general and both doors are closed behind it. The next time we see it the right door of the cabinet has been opened but no one went near it. (00:11:45)

Continuity mistake: Dennis Hopper Says, " these are all his children, man, as far as you can see" and we see a large leaf covering Chef's head and held on with a rubber band. Then when Dennis Hopper says," the man's enlarged my mind…. do you know that if is the middle word in life?" there's a different leaf on his head that has much more green in it. (02:30:30)

Continuity mistake: At General Corman's they sit down to have dinner and the ID card on his right chest pocket is attached to his shirt differently in various shots. At first it's not even on the pocket then later in the scene it's set right again. (00:11:40)

Continuity mistake: Lance wants the surfboard out of his gun turret so Captain Willard pulls it straight up with both hands. In the next shot he's got the surfboard under his arm. (00:54:45)

Continuity mistake: Captain Willard and Lance run away from Lieutenant Col. Kilgore and the captain says, "get the f&% outta here". As this happens a helicopter is flying towards the colonel and two soldiers are helping an injured soldier. The camera cuts away for three seconds then back to a wide shot of the colonel again and the helicopter and the injured soldier have disappeared. (00:51:00)

Audio problem: Colonel Kilgore takes the megaphone and says to the surfers, "Okay give it a try guys, one goes left and one goes right "and his lips do not match what he says. In these several shots he's saying a lot more than what we hear. (00:50:50)

Continuity mistake: When Clean first walks up to the sergeant about fuel for the boat there are two posters in the window behind him. The first time we see them their lit up but the second time six seconds later they're not and the blinds behind them haven't been touched. The only thing that's been changed is the stage lighting. Continuity mistake: Chef says, "I gotta remember, never get out of the boat" as he sits in front of Chief Phillips on the starboard side of the boat. In the next shot as they pull away from the tree they've been hiding under he's walking around on the other side of the boat. (00:59:30)

Continuity mistake: On the dock as he talks to the sergeant about getting some Panama Red, Chef's mustache is combed downward and shaved more around his upper lips than it was in the shot of him before they docked at Hau Phat where it's bushier and combed off to the sides. (01:05:00)

Continuity mistake: After Colonel Kilgore's helicopter flies over looking for his surfboard Lance says," Let's get this board out of my turret" but in several shots you can see the surfboard is not in his turret but wedged next to the roof of the boat. (00:54:15)

Continuity mistake: As they walk on the dock at Hau Phat the storage warehouse behind the motorcycles is very well lit up. In the previous shot as they were docking these areas were bathed in a dim blue light. (01:04:30)

Continuity mistake: On the boat after leaving Kilgore Chef lights up a joint and hands it to Lance who holds it between his thumb and index finger. In the next shot it's between his 1st and 2nd fingers as he offers it to the Captain. (00:52:25)

Continuity mistake: In the wide shot when Kilgore throws the megaphone in the air all the smoke canisters that throughout the scene were blowing behind him are now gone.

Continuity mistake: As Chef and Captain Willard get back on the boat after the tiger attack Clean is on the 60-caliber gun and the entire boat is camouflaged under a tree. Clean says, "Let's go" and you can see the river behind him without the tree there obstructing the view. (00:59:20)

Revealing mistake: After they ditch Kilgore they dock the PBR on the side of the river. The film jumps here as the camera hits a tree branch as it zooms in on them. (00:53:30)

Continuity mistake: Chef and Clean pull Lance into the boat after they ditch Col. Kilgore but in the next shot as Lance climbs in the boat Clean has disappeared. (00:51:15)

Continuity mistake: As they pull Colonel Kilgore's surfboard into the boat it's sitting sideways on the railing of the boat. Then in the next shot the tail fin is back in the water. (00:51:30)
