Continuity mistake: Mr. Robinson leaves Benjamin's apartment and calls him filth and scum as Mr. McCleery the landlord sits at the top of the steps listening. The painting on the wall to the left of the steps is not in direct light but in the next shot when Benjamin walks by the lighting has changed and a dark shadow cast by the frame against the wall is visible.
Continuity mistake: As he leaves the apartment Mr. McCleery tells Benjamin to, "get out of here". If you look closely at the light fixture over the pay phone in front of him you'll see it only has one light on it. In the next shot as he rounds the staircase we see it again and there are two lights on it.
Continuity mistake: Benjamin says to Mrs. Robinson, "I'm going home now, I apologize for what I said" as he walks out of Elaine's room. In the next shot as Mrs. Robinson walks out, if you look very closely everything on the three shelves to the left and right of Elaine's picture has been rearranged.
Continuity mistake: Mrs. Robinson sits at the bar and asks Benjamin, "Did you know I was an alcoholic?" and the silver shaker bottle with the large ring on top of it moves from the back of the bar to being between Mrs. Robinson and the radio she turns on, on the left wall. A few shots later it moves back again.
Continuity mistake: In the hotel room Mrs. Robinson makes Benjamin promise that he will never take Elaine out. If you look closely the purple chair in the middle of the room has been moved out about a foot away from the wall so that it's now blocking her line of sight and obscuring the bottom of the lamp that's in front of the window. When we saw this spot before as they were lying in bed the bottom of the lamp could easily be seen from the bed.
Continuity mistake: Benjamin and Mrs. Robinson have a rendezvous and while they're in bed he gets her to talk about where Elaine was conceived. She turns out the light and the conversation continues a while in the dark until Benjamin indicates that he might take Elaine out on a date. She turns on the light again and gets ready to rip his head off and two drinks appear where there were none before under the lamp on the left of the screen.
Continuity mistake: Benjamin and Mrs. Robinson have a rendezvous and while they're in bed in the dark he tries to get her to talk about her life and her husband. If you look closely after she turns the light back on the drapes on the window behind the lamp in the rear of the room have been rearranged without anyone going near them. This happens a couple of times throughout the scene.
