Audio problem: When Mathesar says "We need to separate or we'll die," his mouth doesn't move for "We need to separate."

Suggested correction: Your lips don't move much saying that line, especially if you have a fixed smile. His lips definitely move. He is definitely saying the line.

Audio problem: When Gwen uses her Gilligan's Island analogy, Mathesar says, "Those poor people," and then Tommy says, "Oh brother." We are then shown Guy standing next to Gwen, and Guy says "We're screwed," although if you watch his mouth he actually says something like, "We're dead." This dub is probably for a similar reason to that of why Gwen and Tommy's swearing was dubbed over.

Audio problem: After Sarris' first missile has hit the ship, Jason runs towards Tommy and shouts, "Tommy, let's go, get us outta here, go go go go go." However, what we hear is not in sync with Jason's mouth until the last 'go'.

Audio problem: In the early backstage scenes from the convention, the other actors are angry at Tim Allen's character. The actor who plays Laredo clearly says "You are so full of sh*t", but it is edited to "full of it." Those two word edits ('s' word and 'f' word) were done to keep the PG rating, but the editing is sloppy. [This theory could also be expanded to the drug reference mentioned above].

Audio problem: When the aliens are talking to Taggart at his house, in a shot from behind the aliens looking at Taggart in the doorway, the audio is out of sync with the alien leader's mouth. You can see this when he says the word "destruction."

Audio problem: When Brandon's parents are listening to the news reporter talk about the crew not showing up to the convention, his words don't match his mouth at the end of the shot.

Audio problem: When they are rolling the beryllium sphere into the ship, Laredo is heard yelling, but his mouth isn't moving.

Audio problem: Right after the Thermians become sad over the mention of Gilligan's Island, Alexander rolls his eyes and starts to turn away, while you can hear him saying "Oh brother." However his lips are not moving for this indicating the line was dubbed in.

Suggested correction: It's quite obviously Laredo/Tommy's voice saying "Oh, brother" off camera. Not Alan Rickman. Their voices don't sound anything alike. You can see for yourself at this clip at about 1:03: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=26tWWopd_3g.

Suggested correction: It is not Alexander who says it, but most likely Guy.

lionhead

No it's Alan Rickman's voice.

Quantom X

It's definitely not Alan Rickman's voice. It's Tommy/Laredo's voice off camera saying the line.

Factual error: Laredo drives the ship out of the starship docking station and scrapes the main hull on the walls. This would not be possible without either scraping the wings first, as they are much wider than the main ship, or turning nearly sideways, which they clearly don't.

Guy Fleegman: I'm not even supposed to be here! I'm just "Crewman Number Six"! I'm expendable! I'm the guy in the episode who dies to prove how serious the situation is! I've gotta get outta here!

Trivia: The scene near the end of the film where the bad guy kills all of the Galaxy Quest crew is very similar to a scene in the '70s British sci-fi TV show Blake's 7. In that scene, the crew are shot one by one in the same fashion as in this scene.

Question: In the beginning of the movie, Dane attempts to flee from the convention but is stopped by Nesmith, who says "the show must go on". Dane looks furiously at Nesmith for a second and then makes his appearance on stage after all. Can anybody explain to me why Nesmith's line makes Dane change his mind?

Answer: Dane is a classically trained stage actor from England. On the stage they have the saying "The show must go on". i.e. hundreds of people have payed for tickets to see the play, so the thespians go on stage to do the best job they can. Nesmith is reminding Dane of this as Dane considers it a stage tradition that he doesn't want to break.
