The Fifth Element

Revealing mistake: When Zorg is talking on the phone with Mr. Shadow, a tube is briefly visible on his forehead. It is used to deliver the brown "goo" onto Gary Oldman's head a few seconds later. (01:16:30)

Continuity mistake: When Dallas hangs the coffee pot to brew, it's hung at an angle of about 20°. A few seconds later, it's righted itself to a level position and the handle changes to silver lined.

Movie Nut

Continuity mistake: When Zorg is showing the the guns to the Mangalores, he is seen shooting the Police dummy, and when he turns to show them that every shot fired afterwards goes to the same place, he is seen starting to fire from his right to the left, but when the camera angle changes he is seen starting from the right again. (00:49:35)

MCKD

Continuity mistake: When Leeloo is drying her shirt after being in the autowash, she is seen starting to put on the shirt and when the camera angle changes the shirt is on.

MCKD

Continuity mistake: When Zorg is giving the weapons to the Mangalores in exchange for the stones there is a jump-cut. The jump cut occurs exactly in the middle of when Zorg opens the case then closes it. If you watch it closely you will notice the objects shift position. (00:50:15)

Continuity mistake: When Korben is activating the Fire stone, shots on his face show the match level, but shots on the other three show the match angled toward the stone. (01:57:05)

Phoenix

Other mistake: When Leeloo escapes onto the ledge and goes around the corner of the building, there are people walking across a small bridge. One of these people vanishes in the middle of the bridge when walking to the left. (00:31:20)

Revealing mistake: Whilst Diva Plavalaguna is singing, you can see the back of her head creasing and bending. This is because the suit that the actress is wearing is made out of foam latex; confirmed by Nick Dudman, Creature Design Supervisor on the DVD featurette "An Audience With Diva Plavalaguna".

THGhost

Revealing mistake: After Korban meets Ruby and everyone leaves them alone, Korban grabs Ruby by the neck and holds him to where his feet can't even reach the ground. In the first shot, you can tell that Korban's hand isn't even applying pressure. In the next few shots of Ruby, still being held off the ground, you can now see that Korban's applying a little pressure now, but probably not as much as there should be while holding a full grown man a foot off the ground.

Sammi

Deliberate mistake: In the very first shot of Korben Dallas, his bedside clock is facing away from him, towards us. We can read it, but he shouldn't be able to because he'd be looking at it backwards.

THGhost

Continuity mistake: When the Diva is shot and she begins to fall, her arms are outstretched with her palms facing up. The shot changes to behind her and she continues her fall, her palms now face down.

Guy

Visible crew/equipment: When Korben pulls into the garage after leaving Leeloo with Vito, he says to himself, "I shouldn't have kissed her." When he does, a boom microphone is visible above his head along the roof of the cab.

Matdan97

Continuity mistake: After the battle when Ruby is being treated we can see Korben and Vito standing together in the background in front of the security monitors talking and Vito is no longer handcuffed. Then as Ruby screams it cuts away to Korben, and we are seeing Korben standing alone near the monitors with Vito still in the process of getting his handcuffs removed and only then does he approach Korben at the monitors. (01:43:57 - 01:44:26)

Audio problem: During any scene where weapons are being fired, the audio has the sound of cartridge casings falling onto a hard surface, but none of the weapons are ejecting cartridge casings to fall.

Continuity mistake: When Corben bails on the 5-0 (in his taxi with Leeloo), he yanks the police car's winch right out of the car (which resulted in dragging the winch, as well as the entire length of the cable behind his taxi). In the next shot showing his car (4 police cars chasing him down the "street"), the cable and winch have disappeared. (00:36:00)

Tony Martin

Other mistake: Leeloo jumps from the ledge and falls straight through the roof of Korben's cab like it was made of paper. But a few seconds later, the police open fire on the cab and the bullets don't penetrate.

Charles Austin Miller

Leeloo: Leeloo Dallas mul-ti-pass.
Korben Dallas: Yeah.
Leeloo: Mul-ti-pass.
Korben Dallas: Yeah, multipass, she knows it's a multipass. Leeloo Dallas. This is my wife.
Leeloo: Mul-ti-pass.
Korben Dallas: We're newlyweds. Just met. You know how it is. We bumped into each other, sparks happen...
Leeloo: Mul-ti-pass.
Korben Dallas: Yes, she knows it's a multipass. Anyway, we're in love.

Trivia: When the priest states that he has a theory on the advancing planet near the beginning of the film, the president tells him that he has '20 seconds.' Cornelius gives his theory - which takes exactly 20 seconds.

Question: The Diva gets to perform only one song of her concert before she is mortally gunshot in the abdomen. Almost simultaneously, Zorg sets a time-bomb to detonate in 20 minutes. Korben removes the stones from the Diva's dead body and barely escapes from the Fhloston cruise liner before it explodes 20 minutes later. Korben and his party immediately fly at hyperspeed straight to Earth and set the stones in place with only 5 minutes to spare. If they had followed the original plan without interruption and the Diva hadn't been unexpectedly murdered, she would have proceeded with the remainder of her concert, lasting an indeterminate amount of time; thereafter, presumably, she would have to undergo surgery to remove the stones from her body and deliver them to Korben, all of which would have taken far too long for him to save the Earth, correct?

Charles Austin Miller

Chosen answer: Not necessarily. Remember that the evil sped up once he knew Zorg was dead and the team had the stones. And we don't know how the Diva was going to get the stones out.

Greg Dwyer

Answer: At the end of the Diva's big number she bows, and they close the big curtains behind her displaying the amazing view. Maybe that was it, one big epic song. Plus, she asked Leeloo to wait in the hallway for her which seems kind of rude if it's the longer concerts we think of, so I don't think she planned on being that long. The Diva definitely gave off the mystic physic vibe so maybe she knew her fate. However, that would mean that she told Leeloo to wait in the hallway knowing she wasn't coming back, and maybe even knew the big beasties would show up. Either way you are correct about the dramatic timing issues all around in this movie, not that I mind.

Nikita Moon

Answer: The Diva already knew her fate... she knew it was her last song and fate would unfold the way it did.
