Other mistake: Beth gives Nick his keys, saying he left his keys at her place, meaning they're his keys, but then she takes them with her, and those were the same keys she had in her pocket when she was shot.
Basic Instinct (1992)
1 other mistake
Directed by: Paul Verhoeven
Starring: Michael Douglas, Sharon Stone, Jeanne Tripplehorn, George Dzundza
Continuity mistake: During the infamous leg un-crossing scene when Sharon Stone is being interrogated, a cigarette in her hand disappears and then reappears.
Beth Garner: Something's going on. You're sleeping with her, aren't you?
Nick: Why are you interested in her?
Beth Garner: My interest is in you, not her. She seduces and manipulates people. She'll do anything she can.
Nick: I thought you hardly knew her?
Beth Garner: I know the type. I'm a psychologist.
Nick: That means... you manipulate people too! You're a practicing psychologist. You're better at it than she is.
Trivia: Director Paul Verhoeven actually has a PhD in mathematics. He received it back in the 1960's in Holland. He left the field and became a film director. (From Director's commentary on "Basic Instinct: The Original Director's Cut".).
Question: Did Stone have a motive for all that she did or was she nuts and doing it all for fun?
Answer: I would say her motive mostly amounts to exploiting others and real-life stories to create more fascinating and complex stories to satisfy her insatiable ego, whether she chooses to kill them or not in the story.

Answer: She is portrayed as a psychopath with an uncontrollable urge to kill.

I wouldn't say that she had an "urge" to kill. Rather, she was willing to "dispose" of people by killing them. She would kill people who were in her way or were no longer interesting/useful.
