Factual error: This film takes place on New Year's eve in the year 1981, yet between a couple of scenes, it shows the streets of New York filled with modern-day cars and taxis.
Factual error: In the Pop Goes My Heart video, the keyboard is a Roland D-50. At the start of the video it's said that it was from 1984. The D-50 wasn't released until 1987 to compete with the Yamaha DX7. (00:01:15)
Factual error: The bird hovering near Manech's lighthouse is supposed to be an Albatross, but it's a Gannet.
Factual error: When Iris is unable to sleep she looks over at Amanda's bedside clock which displays 5:00 pm, however, moments later Iris discovers a button to lower the shade. There is bright sunlight coming into the room, however, in December the sun sets prior to this time (about 4:45pm according to timeanddate.com)
Factual error: About 20 minutes in when they are at some ball/dance thing, Shakespeare's talking with a musician holding a lute. You can see fret markers on the fretboard of his lute, but these were not used on instruments until the late 1800's, early 1900's, definitely not in Shakespeare's time. (00:27:20)
Factual error: During the battle over the fort the British shoot a red flare into the sky. The British army learnt of the effectiveness of rocket weapons when fighting in India in the 1790s. In 1804, rockets (developed by Colonel William Congreve) were introduced into British service. The rocket flare was developed around this time (also by Colonel Congreve). This film is set in the 1750s - the British army would not have had rocket flares (source: Taylor, J.W.R (1970). Rockets & Missiles, Hamlyn, London. PP. 6-10). (00:34:30)
Factual error: When Bigfoot is about to drive through the car dealership it squeals tires with a high pitched squeal. IF it could spin those big meats it would be a deep hound dog like bark. (01:40:40)
Factual error: At the end, where TS and Brandi are getting married in Universal Studios, the caption mentions it is Universal Studios Florida, the actual scene is filmed on the backlot tour at Universal Studios Hollywood. (01:29:36)
Factual error: Cody mentions the coordinates of the Cascade Mountains as: Long: 44 degrees 5' 2" Lat: -104 degrees 24' 8". There is no such thing as -104° latitude. The maximum in the northern hemisphere is +90° (the North Pole) and the maximum in the Southern Hemisphere is -90° (South Pole).
Factual error: The movie they're watching in the theater, "The Fly", is shown backwards. The first scene they see should have happened after the last scene they see.
Factual error: The roads show only two wheel tracks, there is no wear on the center of the road, from either horses or oxen. Most pre-auto movies miss this.
Factual error: There's a scene where Belle's father is riding away in the snow on his horse - the tracks left behind by the horse are exactly backwards. The round part of a horseshoe is at the front, not the back. (This was a deliberate 'in joke' done by the animators.)
Factual error: A hard pack of Winston cigarettes is shown, but these were not available in 1953.
Factual error: Toward the end of the movie just as Austin and his team start the football game, the camera shows the scoreboard counting down from 15:00 minutes, the problem with this is high school football games are played in 12:00 minute quarters not 15:00.
Factual error: Not long into the film, D'Artagnan jumps in some hay. There's a flag of the province of Québec (Canada) visible in the background. This film is set in France at a time this flag didn't even exist.
Factual error: In the beginning of the film with Coleen after George gets up, also in several other "morning" shots, the sun is always shown near the horizon or reflecting off the ocean. On the west coast this would make this the evening.
Factual error: Karl Wolfschtagg's Olympic uniform should have read 'DDR' (Deutsche Demokratische Republik, the German name) rather than 'GDR', the English name for East Germany. Olympic country names are customarily rendered in their native language.
Factual error: The registration plate of the white Jaguar refers to a year 2003 registration. This is impossible as this particular model Jaguar ceased production a long time ago, and could never have that plate.
Factual error: When Mike is in Idaho he has a clear view of Mt. Hood. Even if it were possible to see the mountain from so far away (over 200 miles), there is another mountain range lying between Idaho and Mt. Hood, blocking the view.
Factual error: When Ack Ack is collecting shells on the beach for his father, he's really collecting shell casings... which should be where the guns are fired, not where the explosions are.
