Question: When Woody and Buzz are at Sid's house, at one point the baby with the spider legs taps something in Morse code to Sid's other toys. Is he really tapping something in Morse code or is it just a random jumble of dots and dashes?

Chosen answer: Baby face taps RR TOYS COME OUT. Telling the other toys to come out from hiding. Pixar stated this in their Toy Story character overview.

Question: Why does Sully get surprised at the end of the movie when he sees Boo?

Chosen answer: He's not as much surprised as he is pleased to see her. She's going to be a little older than when he last saw her because it took Mike so long to rebuild the door. So if he's surprised, it may be at how much she's grown in that time period.

Question: It's now clear why Angus is found in the circle of stones, even though he was afraid to enter it in the first place. There's one part of that matter I don't quite understand, though. Why is he afraid to enter that circle in the first place? Is there something in that circle frightening him? Is there a special effect?

Chosen answer: The stone circle is like a gateway to the spirit world, something slightly supernatural. Angus senses this, and it makes him freak out.

Question: Where does Hector get the photo of himself?

Answer: It is never really explained in the movie, but we could assume that whenever someone dies they keep whatever items they had on them. Hector may have had the photo on his person when he died.

Question: Is the garbage man near the start Sid from Toy Story 1?

Chosen answer: Yes, he is. He can be seen wearing the same black t-shirt with a skull motif that his younger self wore in the first movie and Pixar have confirmed that the character's intended to be Sid.

Monsters University picture

Question: Mike and Sulley are able to activate the door when stuck at the kids camp by harnessing enough screams to activate it. If laughter is 10 times more powerful than screams, then why wouldn't child laughter (especially if there is a Birthday party, etc.) not activate doors from the "human world" allowing kids to go into the factory (monster world) all the time?

Answer: Well a door first needs to be activated from the monster side. See the doors of the human world lack the receiver for the energy they need to open the doorway between worlds (the red light on top). That's why in the monster world they hook a door up to a machine to activate it allowing the passage between worlds before any scream or laugh is made. It costs power to activate a door to allow a monster in. Boo was able to activate doors because she was in the monster world and her screams and laughs triggered the devices on top of the doors, activating them automatically. This was the first time ever a human entered the monster world.

Inside Out picture

Question: How come Sadness was the only one who could change the emotion of the memory orb? Don't we sometimes look back at things we thought we were scared of or sad about, and laugh at them? How come the other emotions can't change them the way Sadness can?

Chosen answer: Sadness can change the memories because of Riley's current situation: she has left the home she loved to move to a new city. This makes her happy memories more susceptible to being changed to sad memories. As she remembers things that used to make her happy they now make her sad because she hasn't accepted her new house as home yet. Presumably under the right circumstances the other emotions could do the same thing, just not all the time.

Question: When Woody is trying to explain to Jesse, Stinky Pete and Bullseye why he was at the yard sale before Al finds him, Stinky Pete interrupts him. Why?

adamtrainman@aol.com

Answer: As we learn later, Stinky Pete has his own agenda. He's seizing on the fact that Woody was being sold as a way to convince Woody to go to the museum.

Wall-E picture

Question: When Wall-E and Eve are in the repair ward, and Wall-E is misinterpreting Eve's cleaning as torture, what is the second "scene" supposed to be? I understand that the first one looks like Eve is having her arm ripped off and the third looks like Eve is having her head chopped off, but I can't figure out what the second one with the malfunctioning umbrella is supposed to be.

Chosen answer: It's a combination of what WALL-E sees happening to EVE, with her circuitry lighting up and her head bobbing up and down as she laughs, with the noise of the umbrella as the diagnostic arms try to force it down. All WALL-E can hear is something that resembles a mechanical screech, along with EVE reacting - he thinks that she's being electrocuted and is in pain.

Question: When Carl and Ellie are married, why are there only a few wedding guests for the groom and why the long faces while the guests for the bride are so excited and celebrating the wedding?

Bunch Son

Chosen answer: Carl and Ellie have two dramatically different personalities. Carl is more conservative, more reserved, a tender heart covered by a tough exterior which Ellie is able to break through, but which seems to recalcify after she dies. Ellie, on the other hand, is the sweet free spirit, rambunctious and adventurous. Throughout the film, each one conforms to the other until they ultimately blend into one beautiful unit. I think the makers of the film were trying to show that their respective personalities were a product of their upbringing, and reflected in the reactions of their families - hers larger, more fun, and more "hick" (we hear gunshots, for Pete's sake), and his more reserved, formal and patrician.

Question: In the list of the cast at the end credits, one of the role names is "Chickenfish" which I don't remember at all. Please just tell me when this fish appears in the film? I have no idea what it looks like.

Bunch Son

Chosen answer: Kathy "Chickenfish" is a reoccurring, although minor character. She was in Finding Nemo as well. She's blue and green with spots and has buck teeth. She was concerned about Mr. Ray coming back from migration. (In Finding Nemo she was the one who said "Oh, my gosh! Nemo's swimming out to sea!").

Question: When Arlo and Spot first see another human, Spot moves toward that human as if he was willing to join him to bond as a family. Arlo stops Spot from approaching the other human and places him on his back so to continue taking him home. Arlo decides he wants to share his family with Spot and keep him safe in his family house. By the end of the film, the same human Arlo and Spot saw in the distance earlier shows up along with his family. Spot joins the family. Why does Arlo decide to let Spot go this time?

John Ohman

Chosen answer: Because he's realized that Spot wants to go and should go with his people. Before he was afraid of losing him.

Incredibles 2 picture

Question: Evelyn in this movie immediately struck me as looking exactly like Roxanne from Megamind. Seriously, look at each character. Is there some sort of hidden connection between them? Or is this purely coincidence that Evelyn and Roxanne look like twin sisters? Or... possibly Roxanne being a descendant of Megamind considering Incredibles 2 is set in the past.

Quantom X Premium member

Answer: I think the fact that Evelyn from Incredibles 2 and Roxanne from Megamind bear some similarities is purely coincidental. The idea that there may be a hidden connection between the two is unlikely and the idea of them being related is even more unlikely. It should be noted that Incredibles 2 is a Pixar production, and Megamind is a Dreamworks production, so the two aren't even made by the same company. Perhaps, her design was inspired by some features of Roxanne, but the idea of the two being connected or related is pretty doubtful.

Casual Person

Answer: It seems to just be a coincidence, or more likely the limitations of the 3D animation style used. Of course, in real life there are unrelated people who look-alike. However, it's unlikely the characters are suppose to be related since "Megamind" was created by DreamWorks, which is a subsidiary of Universal, which is a division of NBCUniversal (formed by the merger of GE's NBC and Vivendi Universal). Since 2011, NBCUniversal has been controlled by Comcast until they owned it outright in 2013. "The Incredibles" films were created by Pixar, which is a subsidiary of Walt Disney Studios, which is owned by The Walt Disney Company. Plus, I don't think there's been any significant individual who worked with both animation studios who would have influence on the character development and hundreds of people are involved in the animation processes.

Question: At the end of the movie, at one point, Francis loses the stick bug. While looking for him, he says, "I'm right here, the only stick with eyeballs!" or something like that. Can he actually be found on the screen or, for comedic purposes, was it impossible to find him?

Chosen answer: For comedic purposes, it's impossible to find him.

Cars 2 picture

Question: The three Cars films establish that all biological creatures are just variations of mechanical devices. Yet in Cars 2, there is mention of dinosaurs. What exactly are "dinosaurs" in the Cars world?

Vader47000

Chosen answer: If you're taking it to that level, one would have to believe that dinosaurs to these characters would be primitive forms of their devices, evolutionarily speaking.
