Revealing mistake: On each of Sky Captain's hangar doors, the windows are broken in the exact same places, indicating the same window rendering was simply duplicated to make the others. (00:16:45)
Continuity mistake: The left tail light of Sadie's car is broken when she picks up the unfortunate hitchhiker. The light works when she turns left off the road. (00:36:20 - 00:38:35)
Continuity mistake: When Barris is served in the diner, french fries are scattered over his plate. When seen again, the french fries are replaced with vegetable sides.
Continuity mistake: After Eisenheim has disappeared, literally, from stage, Uhl and the policemen search his office. There, Uhl finds Eisenheim's notebook with the design of the locket in it. There is a large tear in the middle of the paper. It disappears when the inspector looks at it again after he has found the locket in the Prince's barn. (01:31:00 - 01:31:45)
Continuity mistake: At the end of the film, Victor tells Nick to write 'hey Annie' on plane's wing to send her a message. When Nick throws the plane and the camera shows it flying around, the words that Nick wrote are nowhere to be seen.
Continuity mistake: After Teddy takes his dead daughter's shoe off, its position changes between angles.
Revealing mistake: In the barber shop scene at the end of the film, Agent Anderson terrorises Deputy Sheriff Pell (who has a full head of hair) with a razor blade. Anderson throws him across the room, but the person being thrown across the room has a mostly bald head.
Continuity mistake: In the final scene on the bridge, Spock and McCoy are wearing coloured arm bands which identify their departments: Spock's is orange (for Science) and McCoy's is green (for Medical). In the very last shot, Spock is wearing the green band and McCoy is wearing the orange one (corrected in the 2022 re-release of the Director's Edition).
Continuity mistake: When Agent Desmond is waiting to see Sheriff Cable, the position of the hand supporting his face changes between shots. (00:08:00)
Continuity mistake: When the kid holds the bible out for Esther in the hallway, in one shot the kid is holding it with one hand, then with 2 when Esther grabs it. (00:32:50)
Continuity mistake: The last two pictures on the left on the wall going up the stairs change continually throughout the movie, at least 10 times. (00:24:35 - 00:26:35)
Continuity mistake: The first time we see her, Jezzie is talking to Megan. She is holding her clipboard with the hand placed underneath it or above it depending on the angle. (00:05:40)
Visible crew/equipment: After Matthew and Elizabeth take the pills to stay awake, when they are found Matthew shouts, "David, don't let them touch her," and there's a visible T-mark taped to the floor in the overhead shot. (01:31:30)
Other mistake: In the original version of the film there's a mistake in the opening credits where Colin Blakely's name is misspelled as Colin Blankey.
Visible crew/equipment: After they've killed the snake, Alice says "Is it dead?" and as the camera pans up, the boom mic's shadow is visible moving across the wall, directly over Ned's head and the red box. (00:26:05)
Revealing mistake: Just after the scene where Mark is killed, there's a shot of Jason's feet as he opens a screen door and walks across a dusty hardwood floor. As the dolly pulls backward across the floor, you can see the camera's roller marks in the dust. (00:59:10)
Visible crew/equipment: Spade returns to Brigid O'Shaughnessy's apartment and tells her about his meeting with Joel Cairo. Right when he says, "He offered me $5,000 for the black bird," the shadow of the boom mike can be seen above the fireplace. (00:31:55)
Continuity mistake: In the opening 1950s school scene, the children all run up the front steps of the school. A little blonde girl wearing an orange cardigan and white dress is going up the stairs to the school building. A few seconds later, the same girl is still in the yard, heading towards the school again - from further back. (00:01:45)
Continuity mistake: Sydney gives her phone to Liv at the prep rally to film her first dare. The case has a very distinctive blue furry case. However in one shot of Liv filming Sydney, it has a black and white case. This cannot be anyone else filming as it shows Liv's arm. Also the nail polish changes color. (00:07:20)
Continuity mistake: During the whack-a-robot game, a big chunk of the broken robot lies on the counter, but it disappears a shot later.
