Continuity mistake: When Castle and Beckett are theorizing about Melanie's relationship with Senator Bracken, Beckett's right hand is visible holding her cell phone. When the shot cuts, her hands are suddenly in her coat pockets, with her phone nowhere in sight. (00:06:25)
Home Is Where the Heart Stops - S1-E7
Continuity mistake: When Esposito pulls up Evan Mitchell's rap sheet, it says he is 5'9", but in Mitchell's mugshot, the top of his head crosses the 6' mark.
Like Father, Like Daughter - S6-E7
Continuity mistake: When Castle and Alexis visit Frank at the prison in Pennsylvania, as he's brought in, the guard removes his handcuffs. In one shot, Frank's arms are flat on the table, and in the following shot, his left arm is raised. (00:08:20)
Continuity mistake: When Beckett brings Castle to the campsite, he tells her he never would have set up camp near the ocean because of his research for Tropical Storm, and his irrational fear of tsunamis. Beckett then says to Castle, "You bought a beach house in the Hamptons." To which Castle replies, "Yeah, on the inland side, not the ocean side." But in 5x04 [Murder, He Wrote], Castle gives Beckett a tour of the Hamptons house, finishing out to the backyard with the sounds of waves crashing, and Castle saying, "This is actually my favorite part. The sound of the ocean, complete privacy..." (00:36:15 - 00:37:00)
Revealing mistake: When Kate gets the info that the killer is the same one who killed her mother, the back of her shirt is shown twice, revealing each time that it is fixed with needles to fit perfectly.
Continuity mistake: When Kate gets a call from Lanie who asks her to come down to the morgue, Kate's jacket is beige. When Kate enters the morgue, it's black/dark blue. (00:07:40)
The Good, the Bad & the Baby - S6-E10
Continuity mistake: When Lanie arrives at the precinct to check on the baby, her shirt is tucked into her jeans, as seen when she bends over to pick the baby up. When the shot changes to behind Lanie, her shirt is untucked, and then when the shot changes to the front of Lanie, her shirt is tucked in again.
Continuity mistake: The paper dolls found at the crime scenes are mixed up. The 1st one found was from Wyatt's scene and called the "Persecution of Kings" which would lead them to King Street, the site of Wyatt's murder. This one should have been found by Sara Vazquez.
Continuity mistake: In the flashback of Beckett and Montgomery, when Montgomery finds her in the archive room studying her mother's murder case, Beckett says that she was unable to find any leads worth following. But in season three, when Montgomery explains to Castle that that encounter was when he first met Kate, he says "she found some things that didn't add up", suggesting that she did find a clue worth investigating.
Factual error: In the beginning of the episode, the neighbors do not hear shots fired because the murderer uses a homemade silencer. At the end, when they find the murder weapon in the dumpster at the murderer's apartment, it is a revolver. Silencers (homemade or otherwise) do not work on revolvers because the gas escapes from the sides, not exclusively the end of the barrel.
Nanny McDead - S1-E2
Factual error: The establishing shot of the building where the murder takes place features on the foyer quite prominently "715 - The Langham." The story takes place in New York, but The Langham (named after the famous British hotel) is the name of a residential building in 715 S Normandie Avenue in Koreatown, Los Angeles, used in this episode. There is a hotel by that name in New York, not an apartment building, on 5th Avenue. (00:01:00)
Flowers for Your Grave - S1-E1
Other mistake: Castle's book "Storm Fall" is a bit of an enigma, since it is amongst all the other books in the collection of the scapegoat killer when Kate opens it, but Castle gifts "an advance copy" to her later, while in the very first scene of the show there is a party with the book already in the hands of the public. Reviews and a proper release appear only in the fourth episode.
Flowers for Your Grave - S1-E1
Character mistake: At the end of the episode, Castle finds his inspiration again and there's a word processor page fading in/out with text being written. Funnily enough, whoever typed in overlooked something, since there's a sentence that says "Begfore she felt safe." (00:41:30)
Factual error: The con is said to be electrocuted. But the jump start cables are connected to handcuffs which would short the electrical circuit and most probably melt the handcuff chain, but wouldn't electrocute the victim. (00:02:50)
Plot hole: On the recording that Captain Montgomery left for Beckett, the conversation is exclusively between Montgomery and Bracken. But as established in "Knockout", Montgomery was only a rookie during the Bob Armen incident; as two veterans who are more than capable of speaking up for themselves, it seems unlikely that Raglan and McCallister would choose a newbie as their voice, particularly to the assistant D.A who's blackmailing them.
Suggested correction: Maybe they thought that fewer things could go wrong with an "expert" of some sorts. Rookies tend to learn along the way, and do anything possible when starting out.
Revealing mistake: When Detective Ryan calls Captain Gates after apprehending Jerry Tyson at Michael Boudreaux's apartment, Ryan's phone is not in call mode.
Home Is Where the Heart Stops - S1-E7
Factual error: The shots of the West Side towards the end of the episode are reversed: you can see traffic on the West Side Highway moving in the wrong directions. (00:40:10)
A Chill Goes Through Her Veins - S1-E5
Continuity mistake: When Castle and Beckett visit Mr. Davidson, he comes out chasing his two grandchildren - a tall girl in a red jacket and another one who's slightly shorter in a light pink jacket. When the detective and Castle walk up, the grandkids have switched places. When Mr. Davidson says, "Did I scare you," Beckett has her hand in her jacket, but when Beckett says, "Mr. Davidson," her hand is not in her pocket anymore. When Mr. Davidson says, "Why don't we go inside," Beckett is putting her badge in her pocket, but in the shot before she already put her badge in her jacket. Finally, when Mr. Davidson says, "Alright!" the girls have switched places again between shots. (00:09:50)
Continuity mistake: In episode 2-5, "When the Bough Breaks," when Rick is talking to his mother regarding handing out her pamphlets at his book signing party, he opens his beer and throws the cap on the counter, when the shot changes you see him opening the beer again.
