Emergency!

Prestidigitation - S4-E18

Other mistake: During the surgery on Brackett's father, after the closeup of the anesthesiologist there is a closeup of the Bird's Mark 4 unit, then a closeup of the bellows housing showing inflation and deflation, but on the bellows unit it reads "Animal Anesthesia Ventilator" made by Bird.

It's How You Play the Game - S4-E19

Other mistake: After Chet says that he doesn't like when people expect too much of him, Squad 51 is dispatched to "man bit by an animal," and when Roy gets into the squad the highly reflective chrome spotlight has been sprayed with a dulling spray, to temporarily dull the surface.

The Mouse - S4-E20

Other mistake: After Early carries Martha into treatment 3, and he and Brackett begin examining her, there's a nice exterior shot of what is supposed to be Rampart, only it's not actually Rampart, and we know this since throughout the show's run there are numerous exterior shots of Rampart from every angle.

The Mouse - S4-E20

Other mistake: At 6:50 AM, just before the dispatcher transmits the testing tones to Station 51 which wakes everyone up, we're shown the exterior shot of the station and the two flags are already flying. Guys of C shift (as Chet states) haven't arrived yet that morning, so they didn't raise the flags, and we know it's Mike who always raises the flags on A shift, but he only just woke up when the dispatcher sent the tones.

The Mouse - S4-E20

Other mistake: When Station 51 is dispatched to the structure fire, the address is given as 1127 West Winston, but when they're on the scene, the fire flashes through the front door causing Marco and Chet to fall back, and the house number on the stairs is 1026.

Back-Up - S4-E21

Other mistake: After Roy and Johnny leave Wild Bill's apartment because he faked his injury, there's an overhead exterior shot of what is supposed to be Rampart, but it's not actually Rampart. Throughout the entire run of this series there are numerous exterior shots of Rampart from every angle.

905-Wild - S4-E22

Other mistake: When Brackett tells Johnny and Roy to contact the animal shelter via the disaster net, Roy asks the Animal Control guys for their disaster call, and it's given as 3-9-9-7-7-1-1, but in the closeup Roy presses channel 8 then punches in 4-2-1-6-5-3-7 on the scanner. Additionally, this model Regency Monitoradio / Executive Scanner Receiver has 8 channels, so it would have been impossible to press 9, as was stated by Dave.

905-Wild - S4-E22

Other mistake: After the officer hands Les the tranquilizer gun, Les asks which way the tiger went and the officer responds, "Down that aisle," and we see both men, who are standing right beside the self-serve ice cream freezer, moving slowly towards the aisle in front of that ice cream freezer. The problem is that in the next shot, we see the large tiger coming from that exact area in front of the ice cream freezer, as he walks toward the camera on the other end of the aisle. This means that the Bengal tiger, Les, and the officer would have all been standing in the very same spot, at the same time.

Election - S5-E3

Other mistake: When Roy and Johnny help free the man whose arm is trapped in the pipe, just as the man stands up we can see the boxes of detergent on the shelf behind him, with their brand names covered with black tape.

Equipment - S5-E4

Other mistake: When the cardiac arrest is first brought into the ER we hear "Let's get him intubated," but the weird subtitles read, "Let's get him elevated." Subtitles from Universal Studios 2010 DVD.

Equipment - S5-E4

Other mistake: At the construction site, after Johnny administers the epinephrine to the cardiac arrest, 39's paramedic resumes CPR, and when they're lifting the patient onto the stretcher Johnny says, "Stop CPR," but the subtitles read, "Start CPR," which makes no sense since they've been doing CPR all along. Subtitles from Universal Studios 2010 DVD.

The Inspection - S5-E5

Other mistake: When Squad 51 is dispatched to an 'unknown type rescue', as the squad rolls out we can see the Crown engine from the show's first two seasons parked in the apparatus bay, instead of 51's current Ward LaFrance.

Super Grover

The Indirect Method - S5-E6

Other mistake: After Chet's practical joke on Karen, she's quite ticked off, and Roy and Johnny are a bit uncomfortable, and then when Station 51 is dispatched to the unknown type rescue they all head to the apparatus bay. In the next shot when Karen, Roy, and Johnny get into the squad just watch all the actors' faces. First Johnny cracks up, then Roy and Karen, who even put their heads down to hide their laughter, particularly Roy who ducks his head behind the steering wheel. Fun to watch.

The Indirect Method - S5-E6

Other mistake: After Station 51 arrives at the structure fire, Captain Stanley tells Mike to get water to their lines (charging the two lines) and then mule the supply line back to the hydrant. When Marco and Chet get the two lines, they head to the house with Captain Stanley and start hosing the fire down with charged lines. A few shots later, we see Mike going to the back of Engine 51, and the two lines that Chet, Marco, and Cap have been using are flat and not even charged yet.

Pressure 165 - S5-E7

Other mistake: When Johnny prepares Chef Michel's recipe, he leaves the casserole dish in the oven while Station 51 is dispatched to the structure fire. When he and Roy return, Johnny opens the hot oven door to find it smoking and the dish bubbled over, and even though the oven door is supposedly very hot, Roy places his hand on the inside of that door and actually leans on it like there's absolutely no problem.

Pressure 165 - S5-E7

Other mistake: When Johnny brings in the bags full of groceries for the dinner he's cooking, and also later when he discovers that the liquid in the pot turned green, there is tape covering the brand names on the packages.

Simple Adjustment - S5-E10

Other mistake: At the end of the episode, when 51's guys are in the kitchen waiting to see the "terrific idea", in the closeup John presses the tape recorder's third white button to play it, and we hear the dispatcher's voice, but in the next shot we continue to hear the dispatcher saying, "1305 Overland Ave, apt C, cross street, Pacific..." despite the fact that we can see all the white buttons are now up, none are actually depressed.

Simple Adjustment - S5-E10

Other mistake: When the woman from the salon is brought into the treatment room she's unconscious, but as they transfer her from the ambulance stretcher to the hospital gurney, she lifts her left arm from under the stretcher bar and then also positions it on the gurney.

Super Grover

Tee Vee - S5-E11

Other mistake: When Station 51 is dispatched to the landslide, the engine company get into their turnouts and roll out, but in the next exterior shot as the engine drives past the camera, not only are the guys not in their turnouts, it's too obvious that none are 51's guys, and the one in Chet's jumpseat even leans forward. Presumably they're 127's guys. Also the light bar on the squad and the rotating light on the truck are not on.

Super Grover

The Indirect Method - S5-E6

Factual error: When Roy is electrocuted and falls from the roof, after Karen uses the defibrillator paddles on Roy, she lifts both paddles, looks at the EKG monitor and says "He's converted." How exactly could Karen have known that he's converted? It's impossible for the EKG monitor to show anything at all. Either the defib paddles have to be in contact with Roy's body for the "quick-look" to get a reading, which they weren't, or the ECG electrode discs have to be on Roy's chest connecting him to the EKG monitor, and they weren't. As an aside, just watching Marco having problems attaching the air mask, and quickly glancing up towards the camera frustrated, then giving up is priceless.

Trainee - S2-E8

Roy: I think you're on some sort of an ego trip, Ed. And in my book that makes you a very dangerous character.
Ed: [Laughs.] Ego trip, huh? Well, I didn't realize that psychiatry was part of the paramedic's training.
Roy: Oh that's good, Ed, you be funny. But that isn't gonna change anything. You wanna know what I figure? Well, I figure when you were working in Vietnam, it was rough. So rough you started playing over your head. And you were making it, you were doing real good. Considering it was a combat situation. And pretty soon you started getting all blown up about how Ed Marlowe is just as good as the real doctors. And you've been living on that ever since. And the trouble is, Ed, you are good. Except for two little problems. You can't quit competing with real doctors. And you can't face being wrong. You see, those people we treat out there, I mean the people we work for, the people who pay for this whole operation, they're real people, Ed, with real problems. And they have a right to expect more than just being used by you for some sort of trip. [Completely exasperated.] I guess what I'm trying to say to you, Ed, is that in my book you're just plain unprofessional.
[Ed walks out.]
John: Do you think it did any good?
Roy: Do you?

The Game - S6-E1

Trivia: It's in this episode that the Heimlich Maneuver is used for the first time by the paramedics. At the USC game, when a guy is choking on a hot dog, John and Roy are called, and John uses the Heimlich. Up until season 6 we've seen the guys use other methods, such as the ChokeSaver which look like huge white tweezers, to remove obstructions in an airway, as seen in 4x9, "Foreign Trade."

More trivia for Emergency!

Show generally

Question: In quite a few episodes of Emergency there is a character that the doctors and other nurses call Nurse Carol. She is the older nurse with dark hair. I would say she is on at least a fourth of all episodes in all seasons yet I can not see this actress getting credited or listed as uncredited anywhere. I wonder if she was an actual nurse. Does any one know who she was. Yes there also were a couple of other actresses who played a nurse named Carol on one or two episodes and they are listed in the episode guides. She also is the patient with her arm in the cast talking to Dr. Morton in the episode 6:18 Firehouse Quintet.

Answer: On IMDB, actress Anne Schedeen is listed as playing Nurse Carol on six episodes from 1974-76.
