Other mistake: After Johnny takes Captain Stanley's BP, when Chet tells the guys, "Animal fat is the root of all evil," and also after John jokes, "How to survive on no meals a day," check out Roy's feet because he's wearing shoes (looks like black sneakers) that are below the ankle, with no socks. Then in a few moments they're all dispatched to the 'possible heart attack' and when they're at the scene, while Roy is sitting with the patient, he's wearing socks and his uniform shoes (their tops are above the ankle) as usual.
Other mistake: Roy uses the Biophone when he tells Brackett the vitals of a woman with cardiac symptoms, and then Johnny uses the landline to tell Brackett that there's "Another victim, female, 8 months pregnant, she's gone into labor." Brackett responds, "The mother's probably had an MI... Any cervix dilation on the daughter?" It is impossible for Brackett to have known that the two women are related, let alone that they're mother and daughter.
Character mistake: After Captain Stanley tells the guys about the diet and nutrition study, Cap tells Roy that he and John should go to Oceanside Park for a fire inspection, but later when Johnny's on the HT he tells dispatch to respond Engine 51 to Oceanland Park, not Oceanside Park, and then the dispatcher gives the incident address as Oceanland Park.
Visible crew/equipment: After Station 51 is dispatched to the possible heart attack, when they arrive at the scene it cuts to the interior shot of the pregnant woman walking to the door, and we can see the shadow of the cameraman moving across the lamp and curtains.
Visible crew/equipment: When the guys are looking at the vitamins that Chet brought for them 51's tones drop, and as they leave the kitchen the two actors' T-marks are visible on the floor where Mike and Marco had been standing.
Visible crew/equipment: After Captain Stanley tells the guys about the doctor who's doing the diet/nutrition study, when they leave to check the new refinery hydrants, the actor's T-mark is visible on the floor where DeSoto had been standing. Also note that DeSoto is wearing slippers when he stands up. It happens again later, he's wearing slippers with no socks when Morton is talking to the guys about stress and diet.
Visible crew/equipment: When Johnny tells dispatch to respond Engine 51 to Oceanland Park, as Engine 51 pulls away from the curb, the shadow of production equipment is visible on the engine's surface and the street.
Visible crew/equipment: When Station 51 is dispatched to the possible heart attack, just as Squad 51 is leaving the apparatus bay and passing the exterior glass doors to Captain Stanley's office, the reflection of the location's array lighting is visible on the glass doors.
Visible crew/equipment: When the dispatcher drops tones for the 'possible heart attack', just as we hear Captain Stanley respond, "KMG365," we can see movement between Engine 51's front driver and passenger seats, where the camera is located. Captain Stanley is still at the radio base station and Mike hasn't opened the door yet.
Other mistake: While Johnny and Roy are with the possible heart attack, they've patched her in for the EKG, and in the base station room Brackett looks at the EKG strip and the unit's monitor, then it cuts to a closeup of the Datascope monitor, even though the Datascope is not actually in the ER's base station room.
Continuity mistake: In the opening shot of Roy and Johnny at the whale tank, the maintenance guy behind them is standing between the red bleacher seats and purple seats below, but in Roy and Johnny's closeups the guy is standing between the two top purple bleacher seats, then when the whale splashes, it goes back and forth yet again.
Visible crew/equipment: When Roy leans over Captain Stanley after he was electrocuted, the outline of Roy's mic transmitter is visible on the back of his shirt.
Answer: It is standard practice to wet down driveways so that they stand out in a long shot.
