Christmas Who? - S2-E5

Question: Santa doesn't come to Bikini Bottom, but then Squidward receives a thank you letter from him and sees him and his reindeer in the ocean's sky. Why didn't Santa come before? The one voiced by John Goodman appeared in "It's a SpongeBob Christmas" stop-motion special at the bottom of the sea talking to the characters. Can somebody clarify this for me?

Chosen answer: In the "Christmas Who?" episode's intro, Patchy the Pirate is reading a letter where a fan ask if Spongebob loves Christmas as much as he does. Patchy explains they didn't always celebrate Christmas and this episode is a flashback to the first time Bikini Bottom had heard of Christmas. Santa had never visited before because nobody had believed in him before. Santa finally does visit because of Squidward's Christmas spirit. The "It's a Spongebob Christmas" episode aired 12 years later. So by this time, Bikini Bottom had been celebrating Christmas for quite sometime. Santa comes for a special visit because of how everyone in town, except Plankton, is on his naughty list.

Grandma's Kisses / Squidville - S2-E9

Question: I have two questions about "Squidville." 1. When SpongeBob and Patrick are sucking in Squidward's windows and door on his house with their leaf blowers, how are they sucking in the holes in his house? 2. How did SpongeBob and Patrick know Squidward's new 304 house house number at Squidville?

Answer: The holes part is just a joke and meant to show SpongeBob doing the absurdly impossible (which is not uncommon for the show). As far as knowing his new house number; first SpongeBob calls Squidward, but there's nothing to indicate he needs to know the house number to do so. Squidward's number might not have changed or he updated his number at work. Then when SpongeBob and Patrick go to visit Squidward, they see him running in the street and don't have to know the house number. But, they could have gotten the new house number if Squidward updated his address at work, or SpongeBob is doing the absurdly impossible again.

The Secret Box / Band Geeks - S2-E14

Question: In the episode "Band Geeks", the band sings a song at the end of the episode. What is this song is called?

Chosen answer: "Sweet Victory"

You Wish ('Shanghaied') / Gary Takes A Bath - S2-E11

Question: On "Shanghaied", I have seen this episode on TV with three different endings. The first one is the common one, where Spongebob wishes the Dutchman was a vegetarian. The second one is shown less, where Patrick gets the third wish. (He wishes for gum). The third, and least common, ending I have seen, Squidward gets the final wish (he wishes he never met Spongebob and Patrick, and then Spongebob says, "I don't believe we've ever met.") Is there a DVD where I can find the alternate endings?

Chosen answer: Well, I've never heard about those other endings before, but I'm pretty sure the only DVD you can find the episode on (correct me if I'm wrong) is the Season Two boxset. I have seen the episode on this DVD before, and it only has the the common ending which you described. So I would say no.

The Bully / Just One Bite - S2-E17

Question: In 'Just One Bite', I remember there used to be a scene after Squidwad's dream and before him blowing up. He used to walk into the Krusty Krab, only to have a bucket of gas fall on him and a robot arm coming out and lighting Squidward on fire. Nowadays, I can't find that scene anywhere. What happened to it?

Chosen answer: Nick has never given an official reason, though fans speculate it was removed because 1) it may give kids the idea to set fire to gasoline with matches, and 2) it was considered reminiscent of the 11 September attacks on the World Trade Centre.

Wormy / Patty Hype - S2-E7

Question: In "Wormy", what was the name of the friendship song in the scene with Spongebob Patrick and Wormy?

Chosen answer: It's called "That's what friends do" on the Spongebob Yellow album, track 19.

The Secret Box / Band Geeks - S2-E14

Question: In Secret Box, throughout the whole episode he opens the box and looks at the picture at the 'Christmas party', how is this possible if he has to pull a string and he never does?

Jeffrey Depoalo

Chosen answer: Simple, he kept the photo in the box but not in the secret compartment. We never see the photo and we never know when it was in the secret compartment so it's possible he was looking at it and moved it when he was about to show Spongebob. Even if he wasn't looking at it, Patrick might have just been looking at the string and laughing or even just thinking about the picture. Patrick and Spongebob do in many instances laugh at the simplest things.

The Secret Box / Band Geeks - S2-E14

Question: Someone wrote that the song Spongebob sings at the end is part of a real song, "Wings of the Wind." But when searching for this songs' lyrics at Google, they don't include the lines Spongebob sings. On other websites, the song is identified as "Sweet Victory" and the singer was David Glen Eisley. Could someone please clarify this?

Chosen answer: The song was Sweet Vitory by David Glen Eisley. Not Wings of the Wind. Wings of the Wind might have been a remake that didn't include the part you were talking about.

The Bully / Just One Bite - S2-E17

Question: In the episode "The Bully" why can't Flats beat up Spongebob? Spongebob's spongeness has never saved him from injury before or after this episode.

Mark English

Chosen answer: As Spongebob explained in the certain episodes he has no bones so the force of the flats punches have no effect. To be more technical there is nothing solid that Flats can punch into and hence why it has no effect. Spongebob has never really been injured and there really isn't any incidents I can recall that his "spongeness" ever came into question of being hurt or injured.

Answer: He does have bones in some episodes.

Grandma's Kisses / Squidville - S2-E9

Question: If all the other residents had an exact personality like Squidward, how come they never got bored after all the time in Tentacle Acres?

Chosen answer: Squidward only got bored because he likes SpongeBob and his antics more than he cares to admit. Seeing the way SpongeBob acts makes him realize just how boring Tentacle Acres really is.

Jellyfish Hunters / The Fry Cook Games - S2-E16

Question: In "Jellyfish Hunters", when Mr. Krabs keeps saying "More" to Spongebob to get more jellyfish, there are several pictures of Mr. Krabs saying this. There is one quite disturbing picture of what looks like a mutated and rotten Mr. Krabs. Can anyone please explain what it's supposed to mean, or is it just some random joke?

Chosen answer: More likely a random joke. Commonly in Spongebob they use awful looking pictures of the characters as a joke usually about their appearance. In one episode Mr Krabs talks about how Squidward and Spongebob are some of the finest crew mates he's ever had and then you see them looking horribly dressed, with almost mutated faces and nothing close to impressive as Krabs states. The entire show is primarily made up of visual jokes like these.

No Free Rides / I'm Your Biggest Fanatic - S2-E10

Question: Can anyone read Spongebob's license in "No Free Rides"? Is his DOB 7/14/76 or 7/14/86?

Chosen answer: The logical date of birth for Sponegebob would be 7/14/76. This is because in the episode where Spongebob takes Pearl to her senior prom, he says to Gary that he couldn't even get a date to his own prom. Spongebob is 28, not 18.
