Question: In the opening credits, Holly Combs is credited with "and Holly Marie Combs as 'Piper'". Why was she credited with her character's name, when none of the other three lead actresses were?
Answer: She became a producer.
Incorrect. Her billing changed in season 4 but she didn't become a producer until season 5.
Question: How does Chris still have his powers when he travels to the past, but the witches did not when they went to the past?
Answer: With Chris being from the future (and being half-witch, half-whitelighter), he must know about the fact that his aunts can't use their powers in the past. Therefore, he would think to write an advanced spell so that his powers can be used.
Answer: Also it's stated only one in a time period can have the powers. The pasts' Chris isn't around at the beginning to have access to the powers and then when he's conceived he doesn't show signs of having powers yet.
Answer: It was a different spell, you can see that from episode Chris-Crossed, the charmed ones did not drew anything when travelled to their past. It's also explained from the conversation from Phoenix and Chris.
Question: When Grams talks with Patty on the phone, Phoebe was surprised that their mom said she had a premonition, and then mentioned that Prue told her that Patty had the power of freezing. How did she or any of the girls know what kind of power Patty could have?
Answer: Most likely from the Book of Shadows, since it's not only a spell book, but a history of the Hallewell line.
I think the Book of Shadows is not a diary. Yeah, they've read about Melinda and Brianna Warren, but that's all I remember, and they were in for a reason: the line started with Melinda, and Brianna fought a clan-lord. Later in season 2, they had to look the family tree to find out who P. Russell was. The Book of Shadows said nothing about the cousins, otherwise Phoebe didn't have to go back in time to find out what happened to her past life. So I don't think there's a "Patty page" in the book, otherwise the girls wouldn't have been surprised that they had powers when they were children. But if it was, why Prue was asked about Patty's power? Phoebe was the one who spent the most time with the book and not Prue, she should've known better.
Answer: Grams probably told them.
Question: Who is Gith?
Pre-Witched - S3-E17
Question: Every time one of the sisters kill Shadow there is a number in the background to count how many times he died. In the first two it's on a store front. The fourth time it was on a clock. Fifth on the calendar. Sixth on the table at the restaurant etc. I can't find a number for kill 3 or 9. Can anyone help me?
Answer: We don't see Prue kill Shadow her first time which would be number 3. However, in the scene after the second flashback we see the famous effect of the sisters being drawn together in the picture taken by Grams, this symbolizes the Power of Three and then Prue is the first sister to appear in the scene. It's hard to make out and I am not completely sure, but when they finally kill Shadow, the shirt Phoebe has on has a fictional soda pop on it, and I think the little graphic next to it is a 9 and then a cents symbol.
Question: There are many instances of these characters manipulating time (i.e. Chris comes back to change the future so Wyatt is good, and there's all that back and forth in the series finale to make things turn out the way they want). Is there ever any explanation given as to why they never manipulated time to go back and prevent Prue from dying? Obviously it was necessary for the production, since Shannen Dougherty left, but is it ever addressed by the characters, plot-wise?
Answer: The witches' time travel spells could never be specific enough. They had to rely on the Source to reverse time more accurately to save Piper and keep magic from being exposed. It's assumed that Chris has the knowledge to go back to the right time. In the series finale you see that Piper has trouble going to the right periods of time (Going back to when Patty was pregnant with Phoebe, going to the future where she's the grandmother when she wanted to get to grams etc.)
Answer: If you take away Shannen Doherty's departure, it was Prue's time to die. Piper and Leo would have put off having a child. Which means Wyatt wouldn't have been born under the Equinox, the Witch's Sabbath and the Northern Lights, thus the prophecy of the twice blessed child being born.
Question: Some episodes towards the end of season 6 feature different end credits with a Warner Brothers logo but in some repeats they replace them with the normal credits - why?
Answer: Because that show was first created by Warner Bros, not CW.
Question: How did Phoebe send Kit inside the painting without being trapped too? Probably she read the spell and not Kit (duh) then she should've been trapped instead of her - or both of them if she held her in her hands. And why did she do that? She knew about the warlock, wouldn't have it been easier, if she'd got inside, found her sisters and together read the liberating spell... as it happened later?
Answer: Phoebe could have placed Kit in front of the painting and said the spell from a distance or jumped out of the way at the last minute. She knew a man was trapped in the painting but didn't know he was a warlock until he came out.
Question: Is there any reference to other witches, besides the sisters, that have vanquished a source? Or are they the only witches ever to be powerful enough? The source does have the ability to be reconstituted with a spell in the grimoire.
Answer: The sisters are the only witches that have been powerful enough to vanquish the source, gaining their strength from the power of 3.
Question: In this last episode, when the sisters are writing about their personal lives and they show the future kids they will have, Piper is shown giving lunch bags to 3 kids. It shows 2 boys and 1 girl. Why is that? Did she have Melinda? If so, why when older Piper and older Leo are going up the stairs they only show pictures of the boys, Wyatt and Chris? No pictures of the girl shown anywhere.
Answer: I am assuming when she mentions two things: (1) "So that Paige could pass on all that she'd learned, not just to her own children, or to mine, or to Phoebe's " (2) "Which filled the time between when we were doing the fighting, and when our kids were old enough to take over" the lunch bag was probably Chris and Wyatts' kids...and all the kids coming into the house at the end were ALL the kids or grandkids.
Answer: I thought they were her grandchildren.
Chosen answer: It was most likely just a montage for the fans as a final goodbye. Also, prior to the episode, Melinda was only seen once whereas Wyatt and Chris were in multiple seasons/episodes and therefore played a bigger part in the story.
Question: In the first few seasons, the Charmed Ones can retrieve a spell from the Book Of Shadows by just hovering their hands over the book & the book will turn to the correct page. However, in later seasons they have to turn pages manually. Why?
Answer: They weren't searching the book. They were "concentrating" and their ancestors (Grams specifically) were helping them search. Later, they begin to know what to look for.
Size Matters - S4-E5
Question: At the end of this episode Leo goes outside to heal the glass from the sign of P3. In a previous episode (Season 3 - The Magic Hour) when Christopher is injured in owl form he explains he can't heal animals. An animals genetic makeup would be a lot more similar to a human's, so why can Leo heal glass but not animals?
Answer: There are a lot of factors involved in who and what types of injuries can be healed, or can't be healed, by a Whitelighter, so their powers are limited. The ability to "heal" glass and clothes is more of a mending or restoring ability. But, the trigger for healing is love, so it seems (with speculation) this "Love trigger" only applies to human-to-human love. In addition, there are restrictions for Whitelighters and they're only suppose to heal wounds inflicted by evil, so it's possible animal injuries aren't caused by evil and thus can't be healed.
Thanks for the response - hmm I see what you're saying as that had all occurred to me too however Leo healed Piper's finger after she cut it not by evil but by cooking in the kitchen in "Blinded by the Whitelighter." As for the restoring glass and clothes this is the only time I can recall that he does this as a whitelighter. I'm a big fan of the show and grew up watching it but after my 20th re-watch I realised that had always puzzled me. Still a brilliant show regardless! Thanks again.
The Truth Is Out There... and It Hurts - S1-E8
Question: How come in this episode when Andy asks Pru if her kids will inherit powers she says "If they're girls, they will"? Why will only the girls inherit their powers? We know this is not true, both Wyatt and Chris have powers, Wyatt has them even before he is born.
Answer: Honestly that was Pru when she was inexperienced in the craft. she didn't understand that men could be witches too because "Grams" made her believe so. In the the episode 'Secrets and Guys' the sisters discover that "Grams" was wrong and that men could be witches too. Later in the series the sisters even acknowledge this fact and use the term male witch throughout, eg. the season three episode titled 'Blinded by the Whitelighter' when Phoebe has a premonition of a male witch being attacked by the evil warlock Ames, played by S. Valentine.
Answer: The "only female witches" rule only applied to the Warren line, Wyatt and Chris got their powers as they were the first males to be born from a witch and a white lighter, that changed history completely since it was forbidden for witches and white lighters to have intimacy before Piper and Leo Prue was not wrong.
Question: So I'm not sure if I understand. Up until Leo was found to be a white lighter, Piper froze him several times. Sorry if this has been addressed before, but was Leo faking being frozen?
Answer: Only witches, or half/part witches eg. Chris, cannot be frozen (if I recall correctly) so, no, Leo was not faking. But that's just my opinion.
Answer: Piper can choose specifically not to freeze him if she is freezing other things.
Answer: I've been wondering this forever because he only freezes sometimes and I know she can control who gets frozen but he stopped freezing once they knew he is a white-lighter.
Question: Does anyone know the song that is played right after the intro? Not Secret Smile, but the one played on the Netflix version.
Answer: The song is a studio band original song and not available. I think they didn't even name it. Many of the licensed songs used in "Charmed" originally that Netflix can't or won't pay for have been replaced with similar sounding songs from a studio band. This is one of the few completely different sounding songs.
Question: Why was Magic School never brought up before season 6? Did the writers just not come up with the idea until then? The amount of times they used it for refuge you'd think Leo would have mentioned it earlier.
Answer: There are several reasons. One, Magic School was a new concept, that only been active for a few years. Two, like any private school, it accepts only the truly gifted ones. Those who will become real fighters in the battle between good and evil. Third, Leo had to prove he and Piper are truly good parents in raising Wyatt. The future king of the magical realm and not hide every time trouble occurs. Fourth, once Wyatt was drawn to magic school, they knew it was his destiny to be there.
Question: Why weren't they given a new whitelighter after Leo became mortal? When he became an elder they got Chris and when the elders suspected Leo of killing Zola they were given a new whitelighter (albeit not for long). Was this just a mistake or was there actually a reason?
Answer: I think also because Paige has started to take on charges and Whitelighter duty as well, they probably thought it would be overkill.
Answer: Given how against getting a new whitelighter they were, it is supposed to be that the elders basically gave up trying to give them new ones.
Question: Why weren't the Charmed Ones allowed to see Prue after her death yet were allowed to see grams as well as their mother?
Answer: On top of not being able to see while you're still grieving, Shannon Doherty cost too much for the Charmed budget to bring her back in that sense.
Chosen answer: They are allowed to see a dead relative, just not as soon as they die. It gives the sisters time to grieve. Grams and the mother have been dead many years, therefore they are not grieving for them as much.
Chosen answer: Her agent/manager negotiated a special billing as part of her contract. It distinguishes her from the rest of the cast, probably when she became a producer on the show.
