Buffy The Vampire Slayer

Becoming (2) - S2-E22

Corrected entry: Spike decides he doesn't want to see the world end and makes an alliance with Buffy. Later on, however, he helps Angel get the information he need from Giles to end the world. If he's trying to save the world, why help Angel destroy it even faster? He didn't need to buy Giles any time - he had already convinced Angelus to keep Giles alive for the time being. If he had truly reached breaking point later on Spike could have called in Drusilla then, but as it is he helped Angelus way too early and nearly cost Buffy her life. (00:09:00 - 00:23:00)

Shay

Correction: Spike wasn't helping Angel, he was biding his time, playing along and trying to keep Giles alive, until Buffy could get there.

Correction: The vampire who came rushing in for Angel to fight was one of the spell-affected humans. Only appearances and behaviors changed the humans. None of the supernatural "rules" apply so that person with more or less a glamour prohibiting their own control wouldn't need an invite.

Becoming (2) - S2-E22

Corrected entry: During the final showdown Spike incapacitates Drusilla by choking her into unconsciousness. However, throughout Buffyverse material, especially on several occasions in Angel, it is pointed out specifically that this is impossible as vampires do not draw breath.

Lord Mordo

Correction: It has been explained by Joss and James Marsters that Spike did not choke Drusilla, he broke her neck.

Ted - S2-E11

Corrected entry: In this episode Ted suggests that the group go mini-golfing and everyone is fine with the idea and they do go. However, in the fade-out of the first episode of this season Xander suggests the same idea as a way to spend the afternoon and Willow states that there is no course in Sunny dale.

Lord Mordo

Correction: So, either a course has been built in the interim, or they go outside of the town to play.

pinkwafer

Correction: Amy says that for a love spell to work requires pure intent. The spell she casts causes Obsession rather than Love, therefore a goddess of The Hunt would be more appropriate than the goddess of Love. (She's also only been a witch for less than a year, so she's bound to make mistakes).

Captain Defenestrator

Some Assembly Required - S2-E2

Corrected entry: The vampires are digging the master up and one digs w/ his hands and they begin to smoke and he says "the ground, it's consecrated, it burns." But you never see any vampires in the cemetery burning when they dig themselves out of their graves.

wolfman1378

Correction: The Master's grave was consecrated with special rituals that Giles, Willow, and Xander performed which are more powerful than the consecration done with ordinary funeral rites. Vampires that emerge from the grave also do it quickly and explosively enough that the consecrated dirt likely never comes in contact with them.

Captain Defenestrator

Correction: You dont have to be in England to have a car with the steering wheel on the other side of the car. I've seen several left sided cars in the States.

Halloween - S2-E6

Corrected entry: After Buffy smashes Larry into the vending machine, a Diet Dr Pepper comes out. However you can see in earlier shots that there is no button for Diet Dr Pepper.

Correction: All it takes is for the person stocking the machine to place the wrong drink in the machine for this to happen. I've worked at one place where you never got what you ordered from the machine because the supplier kept stocking it wrong. In fact, in Graduation Day Part 1, Willow says: "Oh trusty soda machine, I push you for Root Beer, you give me Coke."

Correction: Being unconscious does not prevent blinking, it actually requires effort not to blink.

Inca Mummy Girl - S2-E4

Corrected entry: When Xander and Ampata are attacked by the bodyguard on the bleachers, Xander's bag is knocked over and rolls down about 4 rows. Seconds later, when they stand up to run away, the bag is right beside his feet again. (00:20:25)

Correction: When they are attacked the bag rolls down a few rows but then the bodyguard knocks Xander a few rows down so he would be equal with the bag when he gets up.

Correction: The frat boys wouldn't own the frat house which seems to be a factor in deciding if a vampire can enter a residence. Sunday & her vampire followers could get into Buffys room when she was at the university without an invite.

Some Assembly Required - S2-E2

Corrected entry: Even if Darryl Epps was too ashamed to show his face in public after being resurrected, surely he and Chris would tell their mother to stop her grieving for her son? (00:27:25)

Shay

Correction: (Tell her what? your son is a zombie? He's not dead anymore but he's supposed to be... that'd go over well).

Halloween - S2-E6

Corrected entry: When the gang are in Buffy's house and she sees the picture of herself standing alone, instead of saying the line "I would never wear that low apparel" she fluffs her line and said "I would never wear this that low apparel" The shot changes between the words "this" and "that" so it looks like they tried to cut out the mistake in words but didn't succeed. (00:26:30)

troy fox

Correction: The line, written with pauses, goes "I would never wear this. That low apparel...", at which point Buffy trails off in disbelief. It isn't a fluffed line, it is an attempt to convey confusion delivered a little too fast.

Shay

Go Fish - S2-E20

Corrected entry: In this episode, Buffy is protecting Gage, one of the swimmers she believes is targeted by the monster. At school she watches him from a chair, acting like she is reading a magazine. The first time we see this, her magazine is upside down, but in the next shot, it is a different magazine and is also right-side up. (00:17:10)

Correction: It is suppose to be upside down. When she turns back to the magazine, her face crunches up in confusion when she realizes it's upside down- that's why Gage laughs at her and shakes his head when he notices she's watching because it's upside down. So she grabs another one.

Becoming (1) - S2-E21

Corrected entry: Why would Willow choose the school of all places to do the spell to restore Angel's soul in 'Becoming'? Wouldn't it have made more sense to do it in someone's house, seeing as how the vampires were free to enter the school and attack but would have been kept out of their houses.

Shay

Correction: They were already at the school and didn't know of the vampire raid so there's no reason they should have realised to do it somewhere else.

Becoming (2) - S2-E22

Corrected entry: How did Buffy know in 'Becoming, Part 2' that it was Drusilla who killed Kendra? Everyone in the library but Kendra was unconcious by the time she entered. (00:17:35)

Shay

Correction: Angelus was fighting Buffy & as far as everyone knew Spike was in a wheelchair, So Buffy is assuming that Angelus would send the strongest vampire he had to make sure the fight went his way.

Becoming (2) - S2-E22

Corrected entry: In Becoming Pt 2, Willow is in a coma due to head trauma, and hospitalized. I'm not a doctor, but wouldn't a coma patient in a hospital be hooked up to some machines, at least an IV? When she is shown in the hospital bed, she isn't hooked up to anything at all. (00:03:50)

Correction: It is possible to be in a coma without needing to be on life suport. She is obviously not in an ICU, so she probably doesn't need any machines to keep her alive.

Becoming (1) - S2-E21

Corrected entry: In the season 5 episode 'Fool For Love' Drusilla and Spike mention how amazing a Slayer's blood is - far better than any other kind (a point repeated by many other vampires during the course of the show), so why in 'Becoming Part 1' did Drusilla not drain Kendra after she slit her throat? As far as she knew she was in no hurry, so why did she pass up on the best blood in the world?

Shay

Correction: In talking about Jenny's death earlier in the season, Joss Whedon said that Angel broke her neck as a way of saying she wasn't good enough to eat. Since Drusilla had no trouble fighting Kendra, Drusilla might have felt that there wasn't enough glory in the kill, and there'd be no point in feeding off a slayer that didn't put up much of a fight.

Reptile Boy - S2-E5

Corrected entry: Why did the frat boys bother kidnapping a girl at least a week before the ceremony? They apparently don't care if the sacrifices are connected to each other and had no trouble attracting women to their frat house.

Phoenix

Correction: They only choose certain girls for Machida - although their criteria are never explicitly stated, the fact that Tom is desperate for Buffy to go suggests that they pick their victims carefully rather than just dragging in some random girl at the party. If they specifically wanted Callie for the sacrifice it would make sense to grab her the first chance they got, even if that meant holding her captive for a week.

Shay

Surprise (1) - S2-E13

Corrected entry: At the end of the episode 'Surprise' Angel runs out into the street where it's raining heavily, but in the same street a few minutes later, at the start of the episode 'Innocence', the ground and Angel are both completely dry. (00:43:20)

Correction: Not until Angel morphs to vamp face, and even then, its only him that is dry, the streets are still wet.

MAC

Halloween - S2-E6

Continuity mistake: Willow is turned into a ghost. Throughout the entire episode, she can't touch anything (can't turn the pages of a book, etc.), yet towards the end when she and Giles go to Ethan's shop, and she leaves, you can hear that she opened and closed the door, even though she can walk through walls and can't actually touch the door. The curtain moves when she leaves too. (00:34:05)

School Hard - S2-E3

Vampire: And when I kill her, it will be the greatest event since the crucifixion. And I should know, I was there.
Spike: You were there?! If every vampire who said he was actually at the crucifixion really was there, it would've been like Woodstock!

Chosen answer: "So goes the nation" seems to have been used on many occasions, with various different US states in the "As .... goes" section. Most commonly it seems to be California that's considered to lead the way, but probably most other states have appeared in the lead role at some point or another. Other things have also been used - no less a person that Pope John Paul II said "As the family goes, so goes the nation...". The origin of the quote format is unclear - in US politics it goes back into the 19th century, when it was Maine that held the title spot, but, while no definitive origin is known, it seems highly likely that it goes back considerably further than that.
