Mad Max 2 (1981)

Corrected entry: When the Feral kid catches the boomerang after throwing it at Wez, they use the shot of him throwing it, played in reverse.

RJR99SS

Correction: No, they don't play it backwards, as it is obvious that the Kid's hand reaches up to catch the boomerang, and this is done in a completely different way from the throw: if what you said were true, the "throw" would have to precede the "run", which would be a very odd way of throwing a boomerang. It is clear that the "catch" is simply sped up to give the action more impact.

Mad Max 2 (1981)

Corrected entry: When the Gyro Captain is threatening Max with his crossbow, look at where his left hand is placed. If he actually fired the crossbow, it might very well break a few of his fingers.

RJR99SS

Correction: Quite possibly, yes, but the Gyro Captain has never struck me as an overly smart or capable guy, so one could simply take this as in-character behaviour rather than a mistake. It's not like it creates a situation that Max could take advantage of - if the Gyro Captain looses that bolt, it's still in Max's brain, broken fingers or not.

Robocop (1987)

Corrected entry: Right after Clarence's gang arrives at the mill Robocop tells Louis that she should leave then he cocks his gun. However he visibly strains while cocking it, he even grimaces in frustration and looks like he's about to swear. So much for his 400 ft-lb grip. It could be argued that this is because he's damaged, however bear in mind later in the film he moves some thousand pound I-beams off himself with his arms, after sustaining even more damage.

RJR99SS

Correction: Peter Weller is an actor and surely knows better than to "grimace" in frustration". As for "looking like he's about to swear", he doesn't. The grimace is to give a human touch to the character, even if strictly speaking it is incorrect.

Big Red One (1980)

Corrected entry: During the scene where the squad has to eliminate the sp gun in the Italian village, if you look closely at the sp gun when it rolls its barrel out the window and fires, the smoke from the gun discharging comes from the window, not from the barrel of the gun.

RJR99SS

Correction: It wasn't smoke coming from the window, It was dust and debris raised by the concussion from the sp gun, a very good effect.

Robocop (1987)

Corrected entry: When they're killing Murphy they're shooting at him at point blank range (6 or 7 feet) with shotguns. Murphy just stands in one spot and twitches in pain from the shotgun blasts. However the force of one shotgun blast at that range would be sufficient to knock Murphy to the ground, and probably even send him skittering across the floor a few feet.

RJR99SS

Correction: The movie on this part is right, because by the law of physics called "Newton's third law of motion, Equal and Opposite Counterforce"; if Murphy falls to the ground or slides across the floor a few feet by the force of the shotgun the bad guys will do the same.

The Karate Kid (1984)

Corrected entry: When they first show Daniel waxing and cleaning the yellow 1947 Ford convertible, the rocker panel has a significant amount of rust and peeling paint. In the rest of the film, the car is completely rust free and has show quality paint.

RJR99SS

Correction: Most likely, Miyagi had the car painted before giving it to Daniel as a birthday present.

Corrected entry: When Hannibal chains one guard to the bars, he attacks the other one, presumably biting his tongue out. However when the guard falls to the ground it shows blood on his face, yet no bite marks, or missing skin. He also opens his mouth to scream and you can see that his tongue is completely intact and unharmed. What the heck did Hannibal bite?

RJR99SS

Correction: Hannibal did not bite out the guard's tongue. He bit the side of the mouth, on the cheek. There is blood and also you can see the skin is missing as you can see the flesh under it.

Best in Show (2000)

Corrected entry: Near the beginning of the film when Harlen Pepper is bragging about his dog Hubert he comments that he's had him for about 10 or 15 years. Later at the dog show, the announcer says that he thinks Hubert is just too young to be a serious contender. 10-15 years is actually pretty old for a dog.

RJR99SS

Correction: Harlan says he has owned bloodhounds for 10-15 years, not this particular dog.

Correction: He tells Christy his dog is two years old.

Better Off Dead (1985)

Corrected entry: In the opening scene of the movie the psycho paper boy rides his bike down the street. The distinct sound of cards in the spokes of his bike is heard for several minutes, however it is seen that there are no cards in the spokes.

RJR99SS

Correction: It is an established quirk of this film that all bicycles make that sound. In a world where eight year old boys can make lasers and working space shuttles, that's certainly allowable.

Better Off Dead (1985)

Corrected entry: While at dinner with Ricky's mom, Ricky, Monique, Lane, and Lane's family; Lane brings a bottle of flammable liquid to the table that he was planning on setting himself on fire with. Ricky's mom mistakenly pours a glass of this liquid and drinks it while Lane is dousing a rag with it and rubbing it on himself. Ricky's mom then lights a cigarette, Lane notices this and shouts for her to stop, then a large explosion. The shot cuts to Lane in the car with Ricky and Monique saying "gee, I'm real sorry your mom blew up Ricky". Why didn't Lane blow up too? He was sitting right next to her and was covered with the flammable fluid as well.

RJR99SS

Correction: Well, Lane wasn't the one with a lit cigarette in his hand or mouth, so it wouldn't ignite him. And she didn't in fact "blow up" so even though he was in close proximity, he couldn't have caught fire, even though he was daubed in the same fluid.

Mad Max 2 (1981)

Corrected entry: The "Dinki-Di" brand of dog food was just created for the movie, it was never a real brand. The phrase "Dinki-Di" is actually australian slang for something that's genuine.

RJR99SS

Correction: Dinki-Di was in fact a brand of dog food available in Australia in the late 70's.

Corrected entry: Spock interrogates Lt. Valeris with the mind meld, he finishes and takes his hands off her. She is in some kind of emotional trauma, her mouth is wide open gasping like a fish and she's whimpering. Spock turns around and the camera angle changes to face him. In the background Valeris is standing there looking very cool and calm. I'd imagine it would be rather difficult to collect herself in less than a second.

RJR99SS

Correction: Vulcans have the ability to block off all emotions, so it is possible for her to regain her composure very quickly.

Corrected entry: Right before Kirk beams aboard the Klingon vessel, Spock pats him on the back. He turns around and you can see the large black tracking device that Spock has stuck to his back. Throughout the film they use this device to track Kirk. Kirk was arrested, sentenced, and sent to a prison. Kirk wears his uniform throughout this entire process and the tracking device is blatantly obvious on him. Why didn't any Of his many Klingon guards frisk him and remove it?

RJR99SS

Correction: This is not a tracking device, it is simply a patch made of viridium. The Klingons might not have known what is was or, if they did, that the Enterprise's scanners were capable of detecting this substance across a great distance.

Aliens (1986)

Corrected entry: When Ripley goes to save Newt, she uses a tracking device to find her. However the only data that tracking device gives her is how far away she is from the receiver. It doesn't give any clue as to direction. For all she knows the receiver can be 50 meters above her, 50 meters behind her, 50 meters ahead of her, below her, to her right, to her left, etc, or even any combination of them. Yet in the maze of levels, sub levels, stairs and corridors of the compound she is able to find the EXACT path to the receiver on her first attempt.

RJR99SS

Correction: Ripley already knew which level the aliens took their victims when cocooning them as she had observed this from the monitors in the APC. That solves the up or down direction. When Ripley exited the elevator and started forward through the hallway the distance on the tracking device started counting down which meant she was going in the correct direction. If the numbers start getting larger, then she is obviously going the wrong way.

Mad Max 2 (1981)

Corrected entry: When Wez pulls the arrow out oh his arm, he puts it back in the quiver. However when he puts it back in it has no blood on it, and no arrow head as well.

RJR99SS

Correction: If you look closely at the arrow there is indeed blood smeared on the arrow shaft, and as far as the "head" there is no removeable head for the arrow but it is sharpened to a point.

Better Off Dead (1985)

Corrected entry: At the very end of the film, Lane and Monique are sitting on the Camaro parked in a baseball stadium. They kiss then the camera zooms out. You can see the words "dodgers" on a sign at the top of the stadium. Dodgers stadium is in Los Angeles, many many miles away from the rocky mountain locations of the movie. It may be conceivable that they drove all that way for apparently no reason, however the psycho paper boy also is seen riding his bike on the field towards them. Rather difficult to ride a bike from the Rockies to the western coastline (especially after you fell off a mountain).

RJR99SS

Correction: This movie is suppose to take place in northern California. The mountains they were skiing at are the Sierra Nevada mountain range not the Rockies. These mountains are in the eastern part of California. This would make the drive to Los Angeles much more feasible. However, that kid on the bike is crazy.

Mad Max 2 (1981)

Corrected entry: In the beginning narration, the narrators says "...and it was in this wasteland that he learned to live again" (Max). However, by the end of the movie, it seems to be a pretty strong message that Max hasn't changed at all, and is no better than the rouges that he was fighting.

RJR99SS

Correction: The narrator meant learned to live again as a fighter just like in the first film, not as a human. Max may never regain his soul but his fighting skills are pretty strong here.

Better Off Dead (1985)

Corrected entry: When Monique is fixing Lane's Camaro all by herself the camera pans right, showing all the parts she took out of the car, one of them is the distributor. A minute later she gets out underneath the car and starts it up for lane. An engine can't run at all without its distributor.

RJR99SS

Correction: It is very possible that she replaced the old distributor with a new one, and the old one is laying next to the car.

Scrooged (1988)

Corrected entry: When Frank's boss is telling him to start programming for cats and dogs, he gets in the elevator without Frank and remarks "...and Frank, study this", holding a report out to him. Frank snatches the report, and barely misses the elevator door closing on his hand. As everyone knows, if you put your hand in between a closing elevator door it will just open back up.

RJR99SS

Correction: Elevators of that era often had only one "light sensor" at hip level and pressure sensors on the doors. Extend an arm and the doors will only reopen when they touch it.
