Boogie Nights (1997)

Trivia: Burt Reynolds turned down the role of Jack Horner several times, he finally agreed to do it reluctantly. He hated the film, and thought his acting was terrible and that the film would be a total bomb, so he publicly denounced it. He even fired his agent. However, when it came out it was hailed as Reynolds' comeback role, and he was nominated for an Academy Award. He then changed his opinion of the film drastically.

Boogie Nights (1997)

Trivia: The judge who decides against Amber Waves' child custody battle is played by 1970s adult film actress Veronica Hart, who actually went through a similar ordeal as Amber.

Seven Samurai (1954)

Trivia: Right after the battle scene where Kambei kills a bandit with a high stance strike, there's a shot of a bandit being swamped by peasant militia. Pay attention to another bandit riding up into this shot in the upper left corner. There's an unsuspecting extra who is standing right in the path of the second bandit's horse. The horse rams the extra, violently throwing him to the ground. (02:46:40)

Seven Samurai (1954)

Trivia: Toshiro Mifune, who plays Kikuchiyo, was actually the best swordsman and martial artist of any of the actors who play samurai in the film (he was the only one who seriously studied various martial arts). Ironically, he was cast to play the worst swordsman in the group.

Seven Samurai (1954)

Trivia: In some instances in the film, such as when Gorobei kills the bandit who was checking the water level with an arrow, the actors were actually shot with real arrows. The actor would simply wear a block of wood under his costume (which you can see if you know what to look for) and an expert archer would actually shoot him.

Seven Samurai (1954)

Trivia: Seiji Miyaguchi, who plays Kyuzo the master swordsman, actually had the least experience with swordplay among all of the actors who play samurai in the film. In fact, he never even touched a sword until a few weeks before shooting the film (he initially turned the role down for this reason). Most of his fight scenes rely on clever editing to make him appear to be a master.

Seven Samurai (1954)

Continuity mistake: Shichiroji throws a spear out the door of Rikichi's hut in anger, it lands obviously in parallel with the door. Later, after Kikuchiyo's outburst he runs outside and picks the spear up, however it's now laying sideways compared to the door.

Seven Samurai (1954)

Visible crew/equipment: When the samurai are giving battle advice to the peasants, who sit around them forming a circle, the camera does a rather wide circle shot of them. You can see the camera track for the shot in most of scene behind the sitting peasants.

Seven Samurai (1954)

Revealing mistake: When Kikuchiyo tricks and kills the gunner, he chases him a short way, then stabs him with a sword. Even though there's a tree blocking the action, you can still see he never actually stabs him, he just lightly stabs the ground near him.

Seven Samurai (1954)

Revealing mistake: At the last battle Katsushiro stabs a bandit who's climbing the fence to escape. It's completely obvious that the sword never penetrates the bandit. In fact, Katsushiro just seems to just tap him with the tip and his clothes aren't even torn from it, yet he still dies. Maybe a heart attack?

The Goonies (1985)

Continuity mistake: Whenever Data uses his boxing glove device, it creates a rather large bulge in the side of his jacket. However, this bulge isn't present through most of the movie, it just magically appears whenever Data uses the boxing glove.

The Goonies (1985)

Factual error: When Mouth flattens the tires on Brand's bike, all he does to let the air out is take the valve caps off. There's actually a valve in the valve stem that needs to be depressed to let the air out. The cap is just there to keep dirt out of the valve, simply taking it off wouldn't let the air out.

Top Secret! (1984)

Trivia: Val Kilmer actually went through a lot of work to learn to play guitar for the role. The Zuckers encouraged him at first, except once they started shooting the dance scenes, they just directed him to mimic playing the guitar in an absurd fashion, and not really play it. Kilmer recalls this was the cruelest joke ever played on him.

American Graffiti (1973)

Trivia: Harrison Ford wears a white cowboy hat in the film, because George Lucas wanted him to get his hair cut in the 1950's "crewcut" fashion. Ford didn't want to because it was in style to have longer hair at the time and he was afraid it would affect future acting jobs if he cut it. He convinced Lucas to just let him wear the hat to cover his hair.

American Graffiti (1973)

Revealing mistake: At one point John is complaining about the Beach Boys playing on his car radio, he reaches to the center console and motions turning the radio off. In a few other shots though, we see that the car appears to have no radio at all, the center console seems to have a large tachometer and speedometer there, but that's all.
