Trivia: When Max opens the Semi's door, a dead body falls out. This body is actually the same "eye popping" dummy that was used at the end of Mad Max 1.

Trivia: For some reason the filmmakers thought it would be fitting for Max to have a dog. They "interviewed" over a hundred dogs, and were not satisfied by any of them, so they scrapped the idea. Just by chance, the director was at a friend's farm and met the dog who's in the movie, the dog was so intelligent and willing to follow commands he just had to have him. Unfortunately, on the first day of shooting the dog started behaving very strangely and wouldn't listen to commands. They almost scrapped the dog idea again, until one of the crewmen found out that the sound of roaring engines was what was bothering the dog. They plugged his ears with cotton, which you can see if you look close in some shots, and the dog began behaving again.

Continuity mistake: When Data activates his 'slick shoes' on the log bridge, the heels of the shoes pop open to reveal the 'slick shoes' mechanism which starts spraying oil. In the next shot though, they show Data walking across the log, the heels of the shoes are closed, and the oil squirts out of holes in the back of the heels apparently.

Trivia: The entire film was filmed in sequence. Meaning that each shot you see in the movie is the order in which the filmmakers filmed it. This is unusual for films as filming in sequence can be very inefficient, as the filmmakers have to keep revisiting the same sets and setting them up more than once rather than just filming all their scenes while they have the set ready for it.

Trivia: Kubrick originally wanted to make this a serious drama. During the screenwriting process he was confronted again and again with situations that were completely truthful and serious, yet he was afraid and audience would laugh at how absurd it is. Such as general Turgeson referring to general Ripper's sending an entire bomb wing to obliterate Russia as "Overextending his authority". He eventually figured out that the only way to write it would be as a comedy.

Trivia: The interior of the B-52 bomber was apparently so accurate that the defense department demanded to know where Kubrick got that information. He apparently had seen photos of it from a British magazine.

Revealing mistake: In the scene where Bill has Amsterdam on the table, he begins headbutting him. You don't even have to look closely to see that Amsterdam's head is obviously just a dummy head with hair sewn on it. You can even see Bill headbutting it, and the head bends a significant amount, just like rubber. If it were Amsterdam's actual head his skull would be shattered in several places and he'd be killed instantly.

Audio problem: Right after Bert kills the second graboid he gets on the radio and says "we killed that mother-humper". Val replies "...be advised there are two more mother-humpers". However Val's lips don't seem to be saying "humper". This occurs even in unedited versions of the film. (01:01:40)

Continuity mistake: When Bud leaves Jammer behind in the sub, he gives him a strand of rope to keep the two connected. At first Bud keeps the bundle of rope and hands Jammer the loose end, however in later scenes it's shown that Jammer holds the bundle of rope and Bud holds the loose end; as Jammer is feeding him line.

Visible crew/equipment: When number 5 falls off the bridge you can see a thin rope attached to him, either used to activate the parachute, or used as a guide wire to keep the robot stable while falling.

Continuity mistake: When Joker and Rafterman are in transit on the chopper, we see the gunner firing out the cargo door. We can see out the cargo door that the ground is pretty far away, the chopper is obviously pretty high up in the air, so high that if there were people down on the ground it would be rather hard to see them. However the camera switches to the gunner's point of view shooting at people, and the chopper only seems to be about 20 feet off the ground.

Continuity mistake: During the graduation parade, if you look at the background you can see many large squad bay buildings with a few single trees in front of them, this scene seems to be shot at the actual Paris island. However when they show a close up of Joker's platoon in parade, the background changes to mostly trees, with only two or three small buildings behind them.

Trivia: "The Magnificent Seven" is a remake of the famous 1956 Kurosawa film "The Seven Samurai". It was surprisingly easy to translate the characters from Samurai to cowboys, because the myth of the old west is very similar to the myth of feudal Japan. Some would even argue that the cowboy myth was created from Japanese history.

Trivia: "Last man standing" is actually the third remake of the 1961 Kurosawa film "Yojimbo" (Japanese for "The Bodyguard"). The second remake of the film was in 1967 called "A Fistful Of Dollars", starring Clint Eastwood. Yojimbo had the exact same plot as the other two, except it was about a Lone Samurai. The other two films just took the exact same story and put it in a different time period and setting.

Revealing mistake: During the scene where the Romans soldiers raise Jesus' cross, they use two ropes on each arm of it. If you look at the rope on the left side of the screen, you can see that it is slack, it's obviously not supporting the weight of the cross. There must have been some device lifting it off screen.

Revealing mistake: When they show the different components of the 3 course meal gum machine, they show a bee's nest that supposedly generates honey. If you look at the coil of tubing you can see that water is dripping out of it, not honey.

Trivia: Many of the extras in the boot camp scenes were actually serving members in the British Territorial Army. They were chosen because it was assumed that they would be familiar with drill. However the English drill practices were so different from the American Marine corps practices that R. Lee Ermey himself had to re-train the British troops to march in Marine Fashion. Ermey said it was twice as much work trying to re-train them than it would have been just training raw recruits.

Trivia: R. Lee Ermey actually wrote all of Gunny Hartman's dialog himself. Ermey was involved in a serious car accident right before shooting, so Kubrick invited Ermey to come stay at his house in England to recover. While recovering Ermey read the script over and over, and he remarked that the Drill Instructor's dialog that was in the script was obviously the work of a screenwriter with a cliche imagination who obviously had no idea what boot camp was really like. So Kubrick allowed Ermey to re-write all of the dialog himself.

Audio problem: When Phil is dressed as an outlaw and pretending to be "Bronco" his Clint Eastwood impression voice is out of sync with his lips.
