Continuity mistake: When Zeke is messing with the drug dealer, he lays on his back and snaps a picture with the dealer's broken leg. When the camera cuts to a new angle, suddenly he's sat almost all the way up. (Presumably this was done to quicken the pacing of the scene, but it's still a mistake regardless).

Continuity mistake: When Zeke and William are investigating the scene of Bozwik's death, pay attention when Zeke says that's not sure the body was a bum. The forensics agent behind William goes from walking to the side, to walking to the back, to standing still and taking a photo instantly between cuts. It's out of focus in the background, so it can be hard to notice... but it's there.

TedStixon

Audio problem: When William reveals himself as the killer, he asks Zeke to be his partner. When Zeke says "I'm in," in a wide-shot, if you look closely, his mouth doesn't move, revealing the line was added in post.

Continuity mistake: When the cop tells Tree to drop the ax, she lets go of it and puts her hands up. However, her hands raise and lower instantly between cuts several times depending on the angle. On the angle facing her front, her hands are up by her head. But in the angle behind her, they are down by her shoulders.

TedStixon

Continuity mistake: In the beginning, when Bozwik is chasing the purse-snatcher, pay attention. Right before he says "Police! Freeze!," he's running by several people on his right... but when the camera cuts, they're gone.

TedStixon

Continuity mistake: The first time Tree is in the hospital, as she enters the room holding the ax with both hands, pay close attention - repeatedly between cuts, her left hand instantly rises and lowers several inches on the ax handle. This happens at least two or three times.

TedStixon

Continuity mistake: When Samar stands up and introduces himself to Danielle in the beginning, he has churro crumbs on the side of his mouth. When he sits back down, they are suddenly gone. He didn't wipe his face off - they just vanish between shots.

TedStixon

Character mistake: Zeke makes the bold claim that "John Kramer didn't target cops." This is completely and utterly false, and a cop like him should know better. Kramer repeatedly targeted cops. In fact, both "Saw II" and "Saw IV" have officers (Detective Mathews and SWAT Commander Rigg) as Kramer's main target.

Trivia: There was a deleted scene explaining that the grown-up boys from the prologue (who beat up Jeremy at the dance) were found dead shortly before the events of the film, implying that they were also murdered, but it was cut for whatever reason. Ironically, this would have solved one of the major complaints audiences had with the film, which is that Jeremy is going after the girls who rejected him instead of the boys who bullied him - he was actually meant to be going after ALL of them.

TedStixon

Continuity mistake: When Zeke gets to his apartment, as he puts away his gun, in the first shot his hand is still on the gun's grip... but when it cuts, suddenly his hand is about 6" lower on his holster.

TedStixon

Audio problem: When Zeke is introduced and talking about Forrest Gump, he says the line "He beat China in ping-pong!" But if you look close, his mouth movements don't match the line. The same thing happens later in the scene when he mutters "f**k outta here, man."

TedStixon

Continuity mistake: A few times during the opening trap, the barbed-wire around Bozwik's wrist disappears and reappears, or swaps wrists between cuts. Ex. When the train rounds the corner before he's hit, in the shot behind him you can see the barbed-wire flopping around in front of him... but when it cuts to the front angle, suddenly it's gone.

TedStixon

Continuity mistake: Bozwik's teeth bizarrely change shape during the opening trap. In the first closeup, he appears to have slightly small teeth with gaps between them. But about 30 seconds later, there's another closeup and his teeth are suddenly larger with no gaps. All I can assume is that the two closeups were shot with different prosthetics or body-doubles.

TedStixon

Continuity mistake: When Bozwik is watching his tape, when the recording says "Today, it is you who will be railroaded," Bozwik instantly goes from looking forward to looking upwards between cuts.

TedStixon

Continuity mistake: When Samar leads Ryan into the lab at the beginning of the film, the door closes almost all the way. However, when the scene cuts inside the lab, the door is suddenly almost all the way open again, and closes a second time.

Trivia: As of 2022, this is the only widely-released theatrical film to feature David Boreanaz in a starring role. His only other starring film roles have been in TV-movies, limited releases and direct-to-video movies. (Although thankfully, he is an incredibly successful television actor).

Suggested correction: Those are very narrow parameters that could describe a lot of TV actors, but how would you classify "The Mighty Macs" (2009)? He has a starring role that opened to almost 1,000 theaters its opening week and remained in theaters over a month (albeit with reducing numbers of theaters showing the film).

Audio problem: During the final test, at one point Marcus says "Shoot this piece of s**t Ezekiel, now." In the first shot, it's clear he's saying something entirely different as his mouth movements don't match the dialogue. The scene then cuts to a closeup mid-line, and the closeup does match... but the first shot doesn't match in the slightest.

Revealing mistake: When Gregory throws Tree through the window during the final fight, as Tree lands, you can see the outline of a stunt-pad on her thigh beneath her pants. You can also tell it's a stunt-woman, as her body is slightly stockier than Tree normally is.

TedStixon

Continuity mistake: When Gregory reveals himself as the killer, pay attention as he walks towards Tree clapping. The mask on the ground behind him is initially face-down and right next to the wall. But a few shots later, suddenly it is face-up and has moved about a foot to the left.

TedStixon

Continuity mistake: The second time Tree wakes up, she does a mock "gunshot" to her forehead using her fingers. She then turns her head downwards. When the camera cuts, she instantly goes from looking down to looking to her right. (You have to look closely since only part of her head is in frame, but it's definitely noticeable).
