I was wondering if anyone could back me up on this. When the James Bond films were in limbo between 1989 and 1995 and two studios were fighting over rights issues, I am sure I read articles which claimed that producer Joel silver was desperately trying to obtain the franchise with the full intent of casting Mel Gibson as Bond (despite Gibson repeatedly saying that he wasn't interested). I have found nothing anywhere online to back this up so I was wondering if anyone else had read this. Or it is simply my imagination?

I've been looking everywhere for the name of this movie. It's an 80'2 90's drama/scary movie about a couple who are being stalked, or trying to be killed by a police officer. All I remember is that the cop helps them install a home security system and they agree on the password pyramid, and he tells them not to tell anyone what the password is. I remember that they find out the cop is the one after them because he uses the alarm code to enter their house, or something like that. All I clearly remember is the password being pyramid. Please help, if you can.
Answer: You're thinking of the 1992 film called "Unlawful Entry." It starred Kurt Russell and Madeleine Stowe as an affluent young couple who at first are aided by then are stalked by a corrupt cop played by Ray Liotta.

This is for the Bond films as a whole. Bit of a stupid question, but in Licence to Kill, Della tries to give Bond her garter and he refuses because he doesn't want to marry again. And then Felix explains that Bond was married before a long time ago. My question is, in all the films, we see him getting off with various women, and since he was married a long time ago, shouldn't he have moved on by now? Or was Tracey the only woman he wanted to marry?
Chosen answer: James Bond is not the kind of man who would be interested in marrying and settling down with someone. Any woman that he that he would have married would be exceptional, and it is highly unlikely then that he would find another such person or consider taking any other woman as his wife.

Old classical movie: what's the name of the movie where a teen girl goes rich, is taken to buy new clothes, etc? When I was a kid I watched this movie sometimes, but now can't remember the name or the exact plot. It was a young girl or teenager who finds out she inherits a lot of money, or is the daughter of a rich man, something in those lines. She is taken to go shopping by a zealous woman who takes care of her. They go to a store and she tries out new clothes while the older woman tells her what to do, how to act, etc. This movie might be black & white, I can't remember. I used to watch many Julie Andrews movies, so I searched for Julie Andrews but couldn't find anything linked to her. What's the name of the movie?
Answer: It sounds like you're describing The Princess Diaries," which starred Julie Andrews as a royal dowager who is teaching her teen=aged granddaughter, who was raised as a commoner and did not know she was a princess, how to be and act like royalty. Anne Hathaway played the granddaughter.

I am looking for a movie title I saw in the late 1980s. It is about a man who has escaped from an insane asylum. He is accused of being a pathological liar, but it turns out everything he has said is true. I think it ends showing him leaving town on a bus, and I think it might start with him arriving in town on a bus. Can anyone help me with the title to this film?
Chosen answer: This sounds similar to the 1984 film, "Choose Me" starring Keith Carradine and Genevieve Bujold. It was directed by Alan Rudolf.

I watched this movie maybe 10 years ago but I can't remember the name or any of the actors. The only two scenes I remember is in the beginning there are a lot of people in this big warehouse/laboratory type room and in the middle is this circular glass room with a little blond girl inside and she seems frightened, I think she may have been crying. And off to the side these two men are looking at the glass room and talking about how the girl is a fantastic scientific discovery or something like that and one guy seems to be worried that the room isn't secure enough and the other says the glass is reinforced super glass and there's no way in Hell she can escape. At that moment the girl punches a hole through the glass and escapes, killing or injuring a few people along the way. The girl ends up outside and she sees a train but I can't remember if she gets on it or not. The other scene I remember is the girl is an adult and she's kissing this guy and her tongue some how busts through the back of his head killing him. If someone knows this movie or knows where I can find it I'd greatly appreciate it, It's been killing me for years.
Chosen answer: Sounds like the 1995 film, "Species," starring Ben Kingsley and Natasha Henstridge.

This is a pretty old movie. I have part of a movie stuck in my head and it is about a boy who goes in a white room. There are people with big vertical tubes over each of them and they appear to be asleep. Eventually the boy plays music and the tubes rise up and the people are free. Does anyone know which movie this is?
Answer: This is the 1953 film, The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T" starring Hans Conreid and Tommy Rettig. The screenplay was written by Theodore Seuss Geisel (Dr. Seuss). This was the only film ever written by Geisel, who was do disappointed by the film's box office failure that he never even mentioned writing it in any of his biographical material.

What is the name of the 70/80's TV miniseries that was about a man making incredible wealth in African diamonds and later trying to buy the US presidency for his son? I recall some dialog "I'll pay 50 million, 100 million, 150 million or any multiple thereof ."
Chosen answer: Sounds like the 1976 TV mini-series, The Captains and the Kings. Set in late 19th-century America, it stars Richard Jordan as a penniless Irish immigrant who rises into a rich and powerful business mogul. The series covers several generations in his family.

I'm trying to find the NAME of an old (ABC?) TV movie, circa 1970's, likely mid 1970's. All I remember is the (basic) plot AND the final shot. PLOT: the main character (Andrew Prine?) has been in accident (?), or was hurt in the military and he has a plate in his head or some sort of surgery was done to his brain. Something is "odd" about the new town he moves into and the main character thinks the Sheriff / Police Chief is controlling the people and might even be doing doing something illegal. Also, the main character falls in love with a mysterious woman in the small town, and through some series of events he finds out that the people of the town are being controlled by outer space travelers who are using the towns people to rebuild their space ship, at night, while they are hypnotized while asleep. The Sheriff and his new love ARE the head aliens. They are using the towns peoples 'bodies' to do the repairs because they don't have physical bodies, they are just beings made of 'energy'. The main character can't be 'hypnotized' because of the plate / surgery to his head. Near the end of the movie he actually sees the people wandering out toward a field where the busted space ship is being repaired. LAST SHOT: the final shot is the main character's body, lying in a field, in broad daylight. He's gone off into outer space (or just his 'life energy' has gone')with the woman with whom he fell in love. Roll Credits. 11:00 o'clock news. I started thinking about this because there was an episode of "Eureka" where the town's people worked on a 'project' at night, while they were hypnotized. Same plot, different out come. Thanks.
Chosen answer: This sounds like the 1970 made-for-TV movie titled, Night Slaves, starring Andrew Prine, James Franciscus, and Lee Grant. Leslie Nielsen played the sheriff of a small western town where some strange force has turned the residents into zombies.

I am trying to find the name of this movie. It was made around the late 70's to mid 80's and is a horror movie about a giant swarm of bees. The only thing I remember from it was the final scene took place inside the Louisiana Superdome, and the bees were swarmed around a car sitting in the middle of the football field. The main characters figured out that they had to freeze the bees to death, so the had to lower the air temperature to below 39 degrees which killed the bees. But the final scene reveals one bee was still alive, hinting that the swarm would rebuild. I have tried and tried to find the title of this movie and I can't. Please help.
Chosen answer: Based on what you've describe, this sounds like the 1976 TV movie, The Savage Bees. A swarm of South American killer bees escape from a foreign ship and invade New Orleans during Mardi Gras. It stars Ben Johnson and Michael Parks.

I once saw an old (1930's) comedy movie with a train. I remember two specific scenes: 1. A donkey was standing too close to the track, and could not be made to move. So the engineer gets off the locomotive and pulls the track aside, and the train made a curve around the donkey. 2. At one point the wood that the locomotive used was almost gone. So the engineer and the fireman started throwing rocks to people living close to the railroad track. These started to throw back wooden blocks because that was all they could find. In the next scene, the fireman and the engineer would collect all the wooden blocks with which the train could continue. The train had a caboose at the end and the guy had a horn that he would blow when something was wrong. I always thought that Buster Keaton played in it, but I've checked all his movies and I can't find it in the list. Does anybody have any idea?
Answer: Based on the information you gave, there's two possibilities. There is a 1925 silent movie starring Buster Keaton, called, "Go West." However, this actually sounds like the 1940 film, also titled, "Go West," starring the Marx Brothers. At the end, there is a wild train ride as the brothers tear apart everything they can find to fuel the locomotive's engine to win a race.

I've seen a few new commercials (here in the US) that show characters in scenes from popular movies, talking about whatever the commercial is advertising. For example, a commercial for a cell phone company has characters in the Island if Misfit Toys scene from "Rudolph". Does anyone know how these commercials are made if the original voice actors might not be around, or might have aged greatly and have different-sounding voices?

I'm looking for a film I heard about in drama class in high school. It takes place on a steamboat or river paddle boat. The main character is a woman that sings on the boat, but is kicked off for being half black. If this sounds familiar please please please let me know! Thanks.
Chosen answer: This is the musical, "Showboat." It was originally a Broadway musical by Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein, based on Edna Ferber's novel set in the late-19th century American south. The character, Julie, is a mulatto who marries a white man, which was illegal. When it is discovered that she is half-black, the couple is arrested. There have been several movie adaptations of Showboat, the most notable being the 1951 MGM version starring Howard Keel, Kathryn Grayson, and Ava Gardner, among others. The 1936 film starring Paul Robeson is more faithful to the original story, however.

I watched this movie in a history class in high school, I believe in 2002. The movie probably came out in the 90's. The only scene I remember is a group of men escaping from a Native American camp or village on their horses. One man turns back toward the village and shoots a man who is being burned alive on a stake (he does this so the man can die quickly and painlessly). I think the story took place in the 1600's to 1800's. I can't remember if any characters were real-life famous people from history. Thank you if you can help.
Answer: You're thinking of the 1992 film, The Last of the Mohicans starring Daniel Day-Lewis and Madeleine Stowe.

Is there any reason why a lot of new movie previews (at least where I live, in the USA) have a black bar across the top of the screen during the entire preview, which displays the movie title and the date it opens in theaters? Two of the movies I have seen previews like this for are Twilight and Lakeview Terrace, in case that helps.
Chosen answer: There were many actors who were considered for the role of James Bond during this period, including Mel Gibson in 1987. MGM suggested casting him, but producer Albert Broccoli rejected him because he was not British.
