I remember a movie where two women were training to be lawyers or cops. The teacher assigned the class unsolved cases as a test. The two women got one about stolen sheets or towels from an industrial laundry. They tracked the guy down and got a confession out of him. He said "are you going to arrest me?" and they replied "No, we're not cops. We are only in training." Think this movie is mid 90s.

Why do several TV shows portray fathers as bumbling idiots? Just two examples are Homer Simpson ("The Simpsons") and Peter Griffin ("Family Guy").
Answer: It's just an old "nuclear family" stereotype dating back to the earliest days of television sitcoms. The father was often depicted as a good parent and faithful husband, but he was often a bit clueless about what was going on in the family. The mother was always the most level-headed one who managed the home and kids and kept everything running smoothly, all while tactfully letting her spouse believe he was in charge.

Recalling an episode of a courtroom drama, but not sure which one. (It could have been Law and Order, LA Law, or any of a few others.) A couple are on trial because their baby died a crib-death, but there was enough evidence of foul play to charge them with murder. Their defense attorney gets them found innocent, and then the last scene is him getting into the elevator with the couple to leave the courthouse and in the last moment, he sees them holding hands and realises they did it. Anyone know it?
Chosen answer: It was from L.A. Law, season 4, episode: "Justice Swerved." The couple killed their severely handicapped baby because they didn't want the financial and emotional burden of raising it. Each supposedly accused the other and the jury was unable to find either one guilty. After both were exonerated, while in the elevator, Victor Sifuentes is standing behind the couple. He looks down and sees them discretely touching each other's fingers and realises they are both guilty and were exonerated with his unwitting help. This episode is on YouTube.

You will be our hero if you can answer this question for us! We just need the title of this movie! It is NOT "Blow Out" with John Travolta, nor "FX," but it is of the same genre. (Mystery/Suspense/Thriller/Who-Done-It). It came out around the 1970's or 80's. The lead actress COULD have been Cindy Williams, or someone who looked like her. The key scene, around which the whole storyline revolved, was a man and woman holding a private conversation about some crime or secret matter as they slowly walked around a large circular fountain in a public park. The hero of the story, through whose eyes it was told, was a technician who had several shotgun-microphones secretly set up in various hidden positions around the park to monitor that rendezvous point at the fountain on the plaza. The crux of the story is he accidentally picks up a conversation having to do with an impending murder, or big crime, or something. It was actually very well made and suspenseful. Can you remember the name of that movie?
Chosen answer: This is the 1974 film "The Conversation" directed by Francis Ford Coppolla. It stars Gene Hackman as a surveillance expert who records a couple's conversation on his hidden microphones about what might be a murder plot. John Cazale and Cindy Williams also star in the film.

I'm searching for the name of a movie I saw when I was about 11 yrs. Old (I'm 52 now), it was a black and white movie, maybe British. It involves a young boy (he sang in a Catholic boys choir) and he sees a man (I think he was in the military) and he kills someone in the boys apartment building. The boy witnesses the murder while he is hiding in the closet. I hope someone out there knows the movie.

There was a movie that I believe had John Shea in it. In the movie, a woman becomes angry at a driver for almost running her down and throws something at the car. The driver responds by actually putting the car in reverse and knocking the woman to the ground. The woman lives but ends up with amnesia. While her husband helps her recover, she not only begins to remember the accident but starts to accuse him of sexually molesting their daughter.
