Corrected entry: In the final battle, the human soldiers are about to drop a bomb on the Tree of Souls, when their ship is taken down by Jake. The ship crashes and explodes along with the bomb. However, the Tree of Souls remains untouched by the explosion as if the ship crashed miles away.

BlueCell

Correction: When Jake explodes the intake valve on one side of the ship it goes completely off course and crashes a significant distance from the tree of souls; the tree survived.

Corrected entry: At the end of the movie, Norm appears to be standing holding a gun, but then seconds later his avatar is the background of the next shot. How can he be standing there next to his avatar, when his avatar had been shot dead?

tomokai

Correction: It has been shown that there are multiple Avatars for multiple soldiers. This Avatar must be another human who decided to remain on the planet.

Brad

Corrected entry: When they first arrive on Pandora, they must wear gas masks because the air is toxic. Later when Jake and Sully are riding one of the aircraft as humans to go to the new upload location, they are not wearing gas masks even though the cabin door is open and they are in the open air. How can they breathe?

Correction: No human on the ground can breathe; when windows are ruptured you can see a gas-like substance pour into the opening. Obviously, this is a heavier-than air gas that covers the planet's surface and may not exist at higher altitudes.

BocaDavie

Corrected entry: In the scene where General Quaritch tilts the Dragon Bomber to throw Jake off balance [before he can throw the grenades], the huge bomb reverses back into the aircraft hold, in the process squashing the soldier in between. However, no blood stains or body parts are visible when the floor is revealed [after the bomb shifts sideways].

goa_man

Correction: There would not necessarily be body parts or blood, as the improvised bomb is made up of many bags of explosives. While the size and weight of the payload would be enough to fatally crush/asphyxiate the soldier on impact, that doesn't mean he'd be squashed to a pulp.

The force would have been enough to lacerate or crush the head. There should have been blood stains.

Peter Santiago

Character mistake: In the beginning scene where the shuttle lands on Pandora, as Jake gets on his wheelchair preparing to alight from the shuttle, the man behind him unloading equipment has his exopack mask loose even though he is exposed to Pandora's atmosphere. (00:05:20)

Dr. Grace Augustine: So you just figured you'd come here, to the most hostile environment known to man, with no training of any kind, and see how it went? What was going through your head?
Jake Sully: Maybe I was sick of doctors telling me what I couldn't do.

Trivia: During the final battle, Lyle Wainfleet's AMP Suit gets knocked down and crushed by a charging Hammerhead Titanothere. Wainfleet utters a Wilhelm scream just before he's crushed. (02:21:05)

Question: There is a scene where Parker is telling Grace that the piece of ore he is holding, called "unobtainium", is why they are on Pandora. This same ore was used in the 2003 movie, "The Core", to build the manned drilling machine to bore through Earth, to the core. Was the use of the same ore name in Avatar, done with permission from the earlier movie? Or was it a mistake?

Big John

Chosen answer: The Core didn't originate the name - it's been used since the 50's and even has its own Wikipedia article at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unobtainium. There it's described as "any fictional, extremely rare, costly, or impossible material, or (less commonly) device needed to fulfill a given design for a given application."
