Deliberate mistake: After Irene tells Hank that she's starting to think he's a good person, when it cuts to a close-up of Boshane in the field, the bandage is on the right side of his face instead of the usual left side. It's a flipped shot from an earlier scene when Lee Harvey tells Boshane that his dad doesn't eat fast food. (00:59:00 - 01:04:55)
Character mistake: When Charlie leaves with Irene, the woman asks "but Captain, policework is Charlie's..." The man she is talking to is a Colonel.
Character mistake: Shonte Jr. says he can't figure out of the atomic mass of a deuteron. He is supposedly a genius, but this is chemistry 101. Average people might not know how to calculate atomic mass, but a genius would not make a beginning level error like this.
Continuity mistake: When Charlie is choking the cow the sun changes between shots.
Continuity mistake: While Hank is driving the red mustang and takes Charlie outside, the car the sun changes between shots.
Continuity mistake: At the restaurant when Charlie yells to the kid with the milkshake, the child drops it and makes a puddle besides their table. In a few shots later the amount of milk increases and moves away from the table.
Revealing mistake: Charlie tells Irene to jump from the moving train when he can't catch up to it. When Irene jumps, the train is standing still. It only appears to be moving because of clever camera manipulation. (00:58:00)
Continuity mistake: When Hank crashes into the barber shop with Dick's car, the angle of the cigarette in the geeser's hand changes from shot to shot. (00:21:20)
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Charlie lets the woman jump the line his newspaper switches back and forth between his right hand and under his left arm. (00:18:55)
Plot hole: How on earth is it possible for the three of those babies to fit inside that woman, especially for the size they were when they came out? (00:07:10)
Suggested correction: Only one baby is shown actually coming out before the scene changes so the sizes of the other two are unknown. Also, the three kids were very thin as children and one of the kids became super obese an adult. They simply grew when older so the sizes of all the kids may not of actually played a factor at birth.
Continuity mistake: When Charlie is taking Irene back to New York on his motorcycle they come across a supposed dead cow in the middle of the road, which by the way you could totally tell is fake. Charlie pulls out his gun and shoots the cow a few times then throws his gun off to his right way off the screen. Next screen shot the gun is right next to him. (00:31:20)
Continuity mistake: During the outside motel scene, there is a maroon car parked outside. It changes between a Ford Escort and a Dodge Intrepid. (01:12:50 - 01:20:10)
Continuity mistake: When Irene goes to leave the diner after Hank's jokes, his cigarette switches from his left hand, to his right, to his left again.
Continuity mistake: When we see the policeman with the chicken stuck in his rear end there are more chicken in the background. They disappear a few seconds later. (01:20:10)
Factual error: The police are informed that Charlie and Irene are 100 miles away. As they board a police helicopter one of the cops tells them they can be there in 15 minutes tops. This means that the helicopter will be traveling at 400 mph. Police helicopters max out at about 130 mph. (01:02:25)
Continuity mistake: When Charlie and Irene meet with Gerke, Gerke hides his gun under his arm.He then moves his arm to his side but then in the next shot it's back under his arm.
Continuity mistake: When Hank/Charlie fights himself on the platform the station clock shows 3:50 while Charlie's watch shows 5:55 when he throttles himself. (01:28:05)
Continuity mistake: When the guys in the barber shop return to their game of checkers after admiring the well endowed mom the pieces on the board are arranged differently. (00:16:35)
Factual error: Much of this movie was filmed in the Burlington and Middlebury areas in Vermont. Therefore, there are a lot of inconsistencies with vehicle plates and identifying characteristics of things like particular state trooper uniforms/cars/etc. And yes, the abandoned bridge/railroad trestle/etc. is actually the pedestrian bridge over the Otter Creek in downtown Middlebury.
Continuity mistake: Just notice that in the clip at the very, very end of the movie, when Whitey says he thinks he's found the missing thumb, he ducks under without the hose in his mouth. But in the water, it's in. Then when he comes back out, it's out again!
