Visible crew/equipment: When the police are leaving the motel, you can see a camera reflection in the S.W.A.T. van as it drives by. (01:18:10)
Continuity mistake: The blood comes flowing out of Charlie's hand before he gets his thumb shot off. (01:35:55)
Continuity mistake: When Charlie shoots the cow, he had turned off the headlight of the motorcycle. After he shoots the cow the first time, the headlight is back on. (00:30:40)
Continuity mistake: Right after Charlie and Irene push the car over the cliff, Charlie asks Irene if she grabbed the wallet off the dash and she says no. Later in the motel, when they are lying in bed, Charlie is sharing family pictures with Irene and they talk about carrying pictures in their wallets. Charlie's was at the bottom of the lake with the car. [The deleted scene on the DVD doesn't really help - in it Hank jumps off the cliff to get his wallet, and then Irene follows. However the movie shows Charlie and Irene looking down the 30 meter high cliff and walking away with dry clothes. Deleted scenes can "disallow" a mistake only if they fill in plausible back story, rather than contradicting the "proper" movie directly.]
Continuity mistake: When Irene and Charlie are in the water near the end, the clouds change between each shot.
Continuity mistake: When the little girl starts screaming her long hair moves from her back to her front. (00:18:05)
Revealing mistake: When Charlie shoots the cow there is no bloodshed at all, even though the cow is supposed to be alive. (00:31:20)
Revealing mistake: After Charlie gets his thumb shot off by Dickey near the end, in most of the shots you can easily see that Charlie is bending his thumb behind the rest of his hand instead of computer graphics removing it.
Continuity mistake: In the beginning of the movie, when Charlie and Shonté start arguing, Shonté takes his jacket off and throws it to one side. The jacket continually changes sides throughout the scene. (00:05:25)
Deliberate mistake: When Layla is having babies and the first one comes out there is already a nappy on the baby. (00:06:45)
Continuity mistake: Just as Charlie reaches Dickie and Irene on the bridge, Dickie is looking forward. In the next shot he is looking down and behind him.
Visible crew/equipment: When Shonte Jr and his brothers answer the door to the Colonel, you can see the camera and crew in the reflection of the door. (00:45:00)
Continuity mistake: Right near the end of the movie when Irene is saying goodbye to Charlie, her makeup is a lot darker to when she is driving away in the car, it looks a lot lighter and rubbed off. When she is pulled over again by the police and gets out of the car her makeup is once again a lot darker.
Factual error: In the flashback scene in 1982 when Charlie and Layla are on the picnic blanket, they're drinking Budweisers out of late 1990's bottles that came in a late 1990's six-pack. (00:02:40)
Revealing mistake: When the baby is pulled out of Layla, you can tell that it's not a newborn baby because he is missing his umbilical cord. (00:06:45)
Continuity mistake: The movie starts out in the present and then flashes back. The skinny trees in front of the house are tall in the beginning and in the flashback they are small. They grow a little more every time it's been a few years, but when they come back to the present, the trees are still only half grown in one shot. In the next, they are fully grown.
Visible crew/equipment: When Charlie and Irene are driving Irene says 'He did save our lives'. After this it goes to Charlie. Here the boom mic can be seen in the top left of the window.
Audio problem: When Charlie and Irene are cruising on his motorcycle just after he leaves his meds in the motel room, you can hear the bike shift gears, but you do not see Charlie press the clutch or use the gear shift lever. (00:38:40)
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Hank comes crashing into the building with Dick's car, the driver's side headlight is intact. They show the people in the building, and when the shot returns to the car, the headlight is dangling from its socket. (00:21:00)
Continuity mistake: In the scene where both Jim's characters are beating each other at the wheel of this red convertible, bad Jim throws good Jim out of the car which was doing some 30/40 mph in a straight line. In the next shot Jim is seen chasing the car on foot: the convertible is now doing no more than 7/10 mph and it's descending a hill after a sharp right-hand corner. (01:32:05)
