Continuity mistake: You have to look really close, but while they are dancing, when the alarms go off, Sandra Bullock is wearing hose. Later, when they are running around the ship, she has taken them off. Then towards the end, wear she is under water, with her hands tied together, she is wearing pantyhose again.

Continuity mistake: At the end, the angle of the ship is differant between the interior and the exterior shots.

Continuity mistake: Throughout the movie, the cameras show a wide shot of the cruise liner from the sky, the evening before all the commotion look for the name of the ship, it is painted over, but the next morning, the name is perfectly readable.

Continuity mistake: Before the Eindhoven Lion explodes, there are several shots of lifeboats being lowered to the sea, but in all subsequent shots around Eindhoven Lion, the lifeboats are nowhere to be seen.

2

Continuity mistake: The Seaborn Legend hits the Eindhoven Lion and can be seen scraping off the end of the tanker. The shot then changes to Annie and the Seaborn Legend is a good distance away from the tanker. (01:30:20)

Continuity mistake: In a shot of the ship's bow heading toward land, "Seabourn Legend" has been incorrectly spelt as "Seabojn Legend".

Continuity mistake: Once the two huge ships have collided, they go off in opposite directions. Just as they notice that they are going into town, the one boat is at a completely different angle. (01:31:10)

Continuity mistake: When Annie is being taken hostage at the end, Alex jumps down onto the stern door but misses and lands in the water. He is then shown hanging onto the stern door's edge. Since the edge is about 10 feet over the water's surface, he must be a pretty good athlete to jump and grab hold of it. (01:23:10)

Continuity mistake: After being underwater to deal with the bow thrusters, Alex and Dante go up to the bridge. When they get there both of their shirts are almost completely dry, despite being fully submerged in water only minutes before. (01:32:40)

Continuity mistake: On the bridge the speed is shown going down fairly fast. The camera shows it going down from 17.8kts to 17.3kts. Geiger is then made aware of the deceleration and opens up his PC. The speed is still decreasing but is only at 17.1kts when he first looks. The speed is still going down at the same rate so should be well past 17.1kts on Geiger's screen. (01:18:00)

Continuity mistake: When the cruise liner is heading towards the oil tanker, her speed is 17kts. When the oil taker is monitoring the cruise ship, the speed it's doing is 14kts. Alex's attempt to slow the cruise ship down failed so that won't explain the difference. (01:18:00 - 01:21:00)

Suggested correction: This is incorrect due to how ships record speed. In fact it is probably the most factual thing in the entire film! The Seaborn Legend records its speed using GPS like every other ship, but it will also take into account current speed and direction (speed and direction the water is moving at) Any other ships would see the same GPS data which would show the speed lower than what it actually is. In the nautical word, this is known as "Speed Over Water VS Speed Over Ground"

Continuity mistake: When Alex realises Drew is in the ballast tanks by looking at the monitor, he says "f**k" before anyone can be seen on the screen. (00:59:20)

Suggested correction: I think your film may have been out of sync slightly as this doesn't happen on my copy?

Continuity mistake: Just before the evacuation, the ship stops. When Merced runs to the computer in the bridge, the speed indicator shows 18.2 knots.

Continuity mistake: When Geiger is setting off from the ship, in the background, the stern door is almost shut. Camera cuts to Alex on the stern door and it is nowhere near shut. (01:23:15)

Continuity mistake: At the start the doors to the van are open in some shots and closed in others. Mainly noticeable when the driver spots the SWAT team. (00:04:50)

Continuity mistake: Alex is telling Annie to get on a lifeboat and is getting soaked. A minute later, when he enters the bridge, his suit is completely dry. (00:42:00)

Continuity mistake: When Alex rescues Drew, it is the middle of the night. There are a few consecutive events, then it is instantly daylight. But the events are all consecutive. There is no way the sun could rise that fast.

Continuity mistake: When Alex surfaces from under the ship, he chucks his mask off and it floats away. Once Geiger has forced Annie to drop Alex back into the water, he suddenly has the mask back. (01:21:00)

Factual error: You cannot walk into a ballast tank from the accommodation areas. The tanks are not painted white on the inside, and electric lights are not installed in ballasttanks. And finally, when filling ballasttanks, it is done through a pipe and a pump, not by opening gigantic doors in the ship's hull.

Alex: Go faster.
Maurice: Give me one good reason.
Alex: If you don't, I'll push you off the boat.
Maurice: That's a good reason.

Question: I've never understood why Annie was such a terrible driver in this film (driving test scene). She says in Speed that she had her licence revoked for speeding, which doesn't make her a bad driver, just fast. She managed to drive the bus fairly well.

Answer: Annie is a reckless driver. The way she drives during her test certainly fits with the description she gives in the first film of why her license was revoked. She only says "speeding" when asked why her license was revoked but excessive speeding and reckless driving go hand in hand. It is doubtful that anyone who has had their license revoked for speeding tickets would be an otherwise safe and responsible driver.
