Scream 3

Other mistake: On the back cover of Scream 3 in the Scream trilogy on DVD, the town of the original killings is referred to as Greensboro twice. The correct name of the town is Woodsboro, of course.

Suggested correction: I'm not "correcting" this per se, but I'm wondering if there should be either a separate type of mistake for things like DVD/Blu-Ray cases or posters (Ex. "Multimedia and Marketing Mistakes" or something like that), or if these things would be better classified as trivia? Especially since it's not something everyone can necessarily observe watching the movie itself. (Ex. My Blu-Ray and 4K releases don't have this mistake.) If not, feel free to downvote/delete this. I've just seen a few of these mistakes over the years here, and it always seems a little off to me since it's not something wrong with the film itself.

I agree these aren't valid movie mistake if the studio wasn't involved in the mistake. It could be trivia if only certain home releases had them. These mistakes are like when episodes are aired out of order creating continuity issues,, streaming services make changes, or closed captioning (not subtitles) gets something wrong. It can't be considered a mistake of the film or TV series.

Bishop73

It's tricky - largely, if I'm honest, because adding new types to the site is incredibly fiddly. :-) There's also room for endless debate about what's a "mistake", whether it's about assigning specific blame or just looking for interesting stuff. Likewise things that can only be seen in slow motion, which arguably warrant a category to themselves because there are plenty of them, but then the "mistakes" section gets cluttered. Becomes a user interface issue as much as anything! Will think.

Continuity mistake: The knife that was thrown at Dewey left the killers hand with blood all over the blade, but was perfectly clean when the butt of it hit his head to knock him out at the top of the stairs. (01:26:55)

Suggested correction: Watch in slo-motion the sequence when he gets hit and you'll see the blade is bloody even during that. He then pulls out of his sleeve (literally!) a clean knife, but it's not supposed to be the original one, since he never retrieved it.

Sammo

Sammo is 100% correct. It goes by quick, but there's definitely a bit of blood on the knife still. If you look up "Scream 3 - Headshot Knife Throw" on YouTube, you can actually see the blood on the knife even at normal speed.

Suggested correction: To be fair, "completely" is a bit of an overstatement. Her hair is dry, she has makeup, she's not quite convincing and other entries remark that. Her upper body is wet, though.

Sammo

Continuity mistake: The first time Gale goes to Jennifer's house, if you look when Dewy gets out of his car the window is down. Look quickly to see when Dewy closes the door the window is up. (00:30:40)

Suggested correction: I really can't see it. He gets out of the car and closes the (car) door in the same shot so it's not that. He gets out of the car (the window is indeed down) and then goes to the front door, but he does not close that door, and from there you can't see the driver side window anyway. Am I missing something?

Sammo

Continuity mistake: When the bodyguard finds Gale eavesdropping on Dewey and Jennifer, they soon confront each other and Tom is sitting in a chair with his left hand on the arm rest. In the next shot Tom is smoking a half finished cigarette with his left hand, but he had no time to change the hand with the cigarette in it between shots. (00:40:00)

Suggested correction: He's sitting in a chair with his left hand on the arm rest, but in that hand you can see he is holding the cigarette already. The continuity is correct.

Sammo

Continuity mistake: At the part where Sidney is on the set of her house and the killer is chasing her up the stairs, she runs right by the plants, but in the next take she is right next to the plants just about to throw one. (01:05:25)

Suggested correction: Sorry but no; she runs by -some - plants, and in the next take she is right next -other - plants, which she throws at the killer, who is just passing by the -first - plants. You can see both plants at the same time on screen if you are watching a version in the proper format.

Sammo

Other mistake: When Sidney is on the set with her mother's covered body, it rises up and reaches for her, speaking in her mom's voice. Sidney calls out for Dewey before climbing out of the window. However, when she's grabbed, she yells out her own name: Sidney.

Suggested correction: No, listen to the voice; it's Fake Ghost Mom that yells "Sidney" as part of her Scooby spooky act; Neve Campbell just cries out "No."

Sammo

Revealing mistake: When the house blows up and Dewey, Gale and Jennifer jump off the balcony, we find that Gale is near the car, the killer jumps up behind her. Dewy takes a shot at him with a gun and it is obvious that the killer awkwardly slams himself against the car window, rather than being caused by the impact of the bullet.

Suggested correction: Actually he would have to fake it because it is obvious, and later found out that he has a bulletproof vest on. if he wouldn't have faked it, everybody would've known that he had one on.

He faked really badly that being shot sent him smashing against a car, to avoid being suspected of wearing a bulletproof vest? How does that work? Dewey in the dialogue thinks he didn't even hit him.

Sammo

Yeah, I'm with Sammo here. I don't really get the logic of the correction. I think it is just really awkward blocking/choreography/camera placement, and I do think the original mistake probably stands as-is.

TedStixon

Continuity mistake: When Sidney is first going into the house for the end of the movie it is clear that she is not wearing the vest underneath her clothes and as she is walking around or when she is rolling on the ground fighting with her half brother you see her bellybutton but then she has the vest on and it goes over the belly button.

Roman: I'm gonna check this place out.
Tyson Fox: Woah, woah, just wait one damn minute! There's a psycho killer on the loose and you wanna go traipsing around this gigantic mansion? Have you ever actually seen the Stab movies? Every time this dude enters a room he ends up a god damn shishkabob.

Trivia: Like the other Scream films, in this movie there's a small part for the man himself, Wes Craven. He's the guy with the video camera walking by Jay and Silent Bob. He even takes a good look at the camera. (00:18:30)

Question: How does Roman find Sidney's info for the crisis hotline? We never see him use Dewey's phone and I don't think it's possible he attacked Neil because Sidney would've found out about it.

Answer: But Roman is in police custody when the call happens and Kincaid has Dewey's phone.

Answer: Just because we never see Roman use Dewey's phone does not mean that Roman could not have used it to trace Sid. Also just because we never see Roman attack Neil does not mean he didn't. Though the phone way is more likely.

ChristmasJonesfan

They discuss who used Dewey's phone. He says only he and Kincaid used the phone.
