Continuity mistake: In the scene where the Reluctant is in the port of Elysium and the men are on shore leave, a truck load of MPs show up. Ttheir patrol leader tells Mr. Roberts that his men will be stationed along the starboard side of Mr. Roberts ship for the remainder of its stay in port because of the problems various members of the ship had been causing while on shore leave. No sooner do the MPs line up along the side of the ship do you see one of the ships crew flying down the dock on a motorcycle. When the motorcycle passes the ship the MPs who just 10 seconds before were lined up along the ships starboard side are now nowhere to be seen.
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Jakob discovers Mischa sabotaging the cattle cars and tells him the first news from the radio, Mischa is struck by a guard and knocked off the train, rolling to the ground. He is then bare-headed, but when Jakob runs up to him, Mischa's cap appears on his head.
Continuity mistake: When the Germans attack their airfield you see the Indian pilot Singh machine gunned. The next scene shows him alive in the pub.
Continuity mistake: While discussing her bodily changes during adolescence, Marji says her left foot became enormous, but the scene shows her right foot growing larger.
Continuity mistake: During the entire battle the ground is sticky mud. When the French cavalry charge however the ground is dry, so dry there is dust coming from the horses' hooves as they gallop.
Continuity mistake: When Angelina Jolie is chasing her son into the bedroom trying to put his pyjama top on, he is wearing a singlet. When the dad walks in and she finally gets the top on him, the top few buttons are undone and the singlet has now gone.
Continuity mistake: When Fowler tells Phuong that Pyle is dead she is leaning back in a chair. First her long hair is hanging down in front, then it moves to the back between shots. (00:06:50)
Continuity mistake: Shadow of the dolly against the smoke of battle during the invasion of Omaha beach. The direction of the shadow and the geography of the beach indicate that this scene, while set at dawn, was filmed in the afternoon.
Continuity mistake: After the Memphis Belle drops its bombs and scores a direct hit on its target you see the Memphis Belle lift up and turn right with the bomb bay doors closed. The next scene the bombadier says "okay, bomb bay doors, closing" and you see the doors close again.
Continuity mistake: The soldiers' breath is seen in some scenes, but not others.
Continuity mistake: During the opening of "This Is the Army" [the stage musical], there is a large choir of men singing the opening number, "Some Dough For The Army Relief": from about the second row back, the men's mouths are moving appropriately for the lyrics they're singing, but much of the front row is singing with these obnoxious cheesy grins, not even bothering with more than the most feeble attempt at proper mouth movement. Continuity mistake: When Hart was being introduced to the new barracks, Sgt. Pepper had his chevron and 25th infantry patch on his shoulder, then he didn't, then, he did.
Continuity mistake: Many of the flying scenes have unrealistic changes of altitude. The planes will be able to see people on the ground, and in the next action shot, they will be thousands of feet in the air.
Continuity mistake: After they ditch Burns in the woods, they plan to go through a small graveyard. As the captain starts briefing the squad we see him taking the cigar out of his mouth. When it cuts the cigar is back in his mouth. (00:21:40)
Continuity mistake: When the "Flag-Raisers" begin stripping down to go swimming, they show a few of the Marines already down to their boxers. They switch to a shot of Bradley and then back to the Marines and all have their pants on.
Continuity mistake: In the scene at Yosemite where Keith is waiting for May to have breakfast there is a big silver pot on the table. After May arrives the pot isn't there anymore. (00:43:45)
Continuity mistake: Colour Sergeant Williams and Private Storey are miscredited as "Company Sergeant Major Williams" and "Corporal Storey." Neither is promoted over the course of the film, and both are not only addressed as "Colour Sergeant" and "Private," respectively, but also bear the rank insignia of a Colour Sergeant and a Private, respectively.
Continuity mistake: The scene shot when Lt. "Lightning" Little first goes to meet Sophia was also shot at the same time as when Capt. "Easy" Julian arrives to tell Sophia of Lightning's death.
