Men in Black (1997)

Corrected entry: In the beginning the agents wear Immigration and Naturalization Services patches, drive Border Patrol vehicles, and use Customs badges. All three were diffrent agencies at the time the movie was filmed.

Correction: Yes, but the MiB transcends all other agencies, and can comandeer equipment from all of them. While it would be more air-tight if they got all the tools for one job from a single agency, they could (for some reason) have opted to just scramble something together. And they would not be likely to care, since they would have to erase the memory of all witnesses anyway.

A Few Good Men (1992)

Character mistake: After Dawson and Lt. Caffey have their heated argument Lt. Caffey storms out of the interrogation room. He stops at the door and asks Dawson why he isn't saluting a superior officer leaving the room. The fuming Dawson gets up and defiantly jabs his hands in his pockets. Dawson is actually following correct procedures. Military prisoners are not allowed to salute anyone.

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: This is more a mistake on Lt. Caffey's part, whether deliberate or not. He knows that Dawson should not salute him, but he wants to make a point about outranking Dawson.

Twotall

Marines are not allowed to put their hands in their pockets; it is against regulations. Dawson doing so is a major "screw you" to Caffey and the regs in general.

Remember Daniel Kaffee is a Navy lawyer of very limited military experience. He may well have thought he was to be saluted as he left the room. Corporal Dawson, being a Marine would know this wasn't required, so the hands in the pockets is definitely an act of defiance.

U-571 (2000)

Corrected entry: After having his language skills tested, the German speaking Seaman Wentz implores Tyler not to reveal his half-German background to the other men, even though he openly uses a German surname.

Correction: Thousands of Americans have German surnames, without necessarily being 2nd generation immigrants. Open any phone book in USA and you will find people with German names, whose only connection to Germany is that their families came over more than a hundred years ago. Wentz could have claimed that his family had been in USA for generations and that he had no ties to Germany, if he was afraid of being suspected as a spy.

Moonraker (1979)

Corrected entry: At the monastery in Brazil, Q tells Bond that the liquid Bond wanted analyzed is a highly toxic nerve gas. Bond asks to "see the formula", and when he sees a molecular diagram, he says, "It's the chemical formula of a plant." A plant is an organism, not a molecule, and is no more likely to have a chemical formula than is a human being. Perhaps Bond only meant that the diagram showed the substance was organic?

Correction: What Bond means is that he identifies the molecular diagram as the poison from a specific (and extremely rare) plant. If he could just see that the substance was organic, it would not exactly enable him to know its exact location, would it?

Futurama (1999)

Season 2 generally

Corrected entry: The Professor tells Fry that in the future they've done away with concepts of modesty and proceeds to walk around naked most of the show but when he sleeps with Mom they both pull the sheet up when the gang burst in and the Professor walks around with a sheet wrapped around him, as does Mom.

Correction: Professor Farnsworth is also the ONLY one to claim that modesty has been done away with and to walk around naked. This is most likely something that only goes on in the Professor's brilliant but slightly foggy mind.

Men in Black II (2002)

Corrected entry: After Agent K and J get "flushed" into the city streets, J brings up the car, and when they get inside they are completely dry. (00:35:15)

Correction: The MiB suits are made from a special material which allows them to stay clean and dry. In the first movie, their suits were sprayed with alien goo and were clean soon after. This is explained more thoruoghly in the "corrections" page of the first film.

Twotall

Corrected entry: Harry Potter is the Seeker for the Gryffindor Quidditch team; his sole responsibility is to get the Golden Snitch. When we first open the Quidditch scene the camera focuses on the Chasers throwing and intercepting the Quaffle around the field. When one of the Slytherin Chasers has the Quaffle, Harry is speeding right behind him and continues to pursue him as he swerves around the audience stands and other players until he stops and we see the close-up of him. Why is he pursuing a Chaser when he should be looking for the Snitch? (00:53:35)

Correction: Seekers can fly around the field as they want, and if Harry wants to distract a opponent Chaser, he can. He knows that this takes him away from his real task for a few moments, but he doesn't want the Slytherins to score, either.

Corrected entry: In the dueling scene, Gilderoy Lockhart says, "I said disarm only." Harry and Malfoy seem to wait for his line to be over instead of performing another spell on each other. Why would they care what he said? (01:07:50)

sdgirl98

Correction: Eh, because he is the teacher?

Factual error: When some people are burning books in the library, one man is adamantly protecting a Gutenberg Bible. Considering how rare and valuable Gutenberg Bibles are, it would not have been on the shelf or even readily accessible. Likely it would be locked in a safe or at least a showcase. Considering the shortage of time to collect fuel and the plethora of books available, I doubt they would break into a locked container to get another bit of fuel.

Suggested correction: According to Wikipedia, and other online sources, the Gutenberg Bible of the New York Public Library is publicly on display. It's shown in as being in a glass display case, there for anyone to see. There's no evidence that the book was taken for fuel. The first we see of it, it's being held by the person safeguarding it. It's possible they took it specifically to keep it safe. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gutenberg_Bible.

Suggested correction: He was the head librarian, and as such would have access to the safe/showcase. And he would want to keep the Gutenberg as close as possible to protect it.

Twotall

That man clutching the Gutenberg was NOT a librarian, much less a "head librarian." He was just one of the civilians who came into the library to escape the climate onslaught. He wouldn't have access to something as precious and priceless as the Gutenberg. Original flaw remains valid.

King Kong (1933)

Corrected entry: When Kong is approaching the platform containing the girl, in both the 1933 and 1976 versions of the film, he tears down many trees. Since the platform is there and does not appear new, and a large ape is likely to have a large appetite, we can assume the ape must visit the platform regularly, thus it is likely that all the trees around there would have been torn down already.

Correction: Kongs appetite for the girl has nothing to do with food. We have no way of knowing how often (or seldom) he or his ancestors visited the platform.

Deep Impact (1998)

Corrected entry: Leo tells Sarah that if they get married she can go with him into the Ark. He then mentions that because he's the "famous Leo Beiderman" he can insist that the authorities let Sarah's family into the Ark too. If he's as "famous" as he says he is, couldn't he persuade the authorities to let in Sarah and her parents without having to get married?

Phil Watts

Correction: The chances of persuading the authorities are much slimmer when he is not related in any way to Sarah's parents. With a marriage in place, they would technically be related (by law) and would be covered by the rules that said he could bring family with him to the Ark.

Van Helsing (2004)

Corrected entry: At the end when Helsing & Dracula are fighting in their "supreme" mode's, when Helsing cuts Dracula's neck, he begins to bleed, and the old legend goes that vampires don't have blood/a heartbeat.

Correction: Traditionally, vampires don't have a heartbeat, but I have never heard that they don't have blood. They don't have a circulation of blood, but they still store it in their bodies and use it to stay alive. Besides, the vamps in a movie do not need to fit exactly with the traditional image of a vampire, as they occupy a "movie universe" that can differ from other universes or "realities".

Van Helsing (2004)

Corrected entry: The river depicted in the film (and also appearing on some of the film's posters) is actually not so much in Transylvania or Romania for that matter. It is the Danube and what is depicted is how the bridges of Budapest, capitol of Hungary, cross over it as viewed from the Gellert hill. On one particular poster of the film, the one with a greenish tone featuring Van Helsing and Anne, actually has the Hungarian Parliament and the famous Chain Bridge between the two characters in the background.

Correction: A big part of the movie takes place in Budapest.

Corrected entry: When Harry is taking notes in Potions class, he finishes writing all of the words to Snape's speech just as Snape turns to him. Yet, when Hermione nudges him, several seconds later, he is still writing. (00:52:10)

Correction: He could be adding some thoughts or comments of his own to what Snape said.

Corrected entry: At their performance 106 miles north of Chicago, the brothers acknowledge the presence of Illinois law enforcement officers. At 106 miles north of Chicago, the place would be well into Wisconsin.

Correction: Yes, but seeing how eager the police authorities are in capturing the Blues Brothers (approving the use of unnecessary violence, for instance), they would not likely be very concerned about jurisdiction issues either.

The Hurricane (1999)

Corrected entry: When the witness takes the money from the till of the bar after the murders have been committed, on the way out he steps over the female victim who is clearly moving her right hand although she is meant to be dead.

Correction: She was not meant to be dead, she was seen twitching when he entered the bar as well. Mortally wounded, but not dead yet.

Corrected entry: The registration of the amphibian aircraft changes. When Matrix is talking on the radio, he says Whiskey X-Ray for the callsign. Soon after, on an external view of the plane, there is neither a W or an X in the registration. (01:01:35)

Correction: That's his callsign with general Kirby, not the plane's registration. Cindy uses the same callsign when she wants to get a message to Kirby from Matrix.

Unbreakable (2000)

Other mistake: Bruce Willis's character has a very clear scar on his forehead in some scenes (I think it's on the right as you look at him) - doesn't really fit the whole "unbreakable" theory. You'd think they could have put some makeup on it...

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: According to a previous explanation, David's "unbreakableness" is limited to his bone structure and general health. His skin can break and heal naturally. See the correction on why the scar from his ear piercing shows.

Twotall

When David wakes up in the hospital, Dr. Dugan tells David that he doesn't have a scratch on him. If his unbreakableness was limited only to his bone structure, he should have woken up covered in scratches from not only the force of the collision but also from the glass as he was sitting next to the window.
