Corrected entry: Near the end of the film, Picard is climbing a structure inside the Son'a collector ship with his weapon slung over his right shoulder. But as he stops climbing and steps off the structure, the strap of his weapon has somehow moved over to his left shoulder. (01:31:40)

Correction: After he starts climbing, there is a few seconds where we get to see what happens on the Enterprise. There is enough time for Picard to have lifted the strap over his head to get the weapon in a more secure position (with the strap across his chest and the rifle closer to his body, as opposed to it hanging loose from one shoulder).

Corrected entry: When Lucy is first kissed by George Emerson he first grabs her by her head and then her waist. When she thinks back to this moment he only grabs her by the waist.

Correction: The second time we see this, it is as a memory, and memories are seldom exactly accurate. As such, this is a mistake on Lucy's part.

Twotall

Corrected entry: When the truck hits the water the rope breaks and cuts one of the bad guys in half. Again, if you play it at slow motion, you can see that the guy has a rope tied to his back. (It's one of those machines that are used in the movies to pull something or someone back really fast.) You see the rope for about 1 second. After that it is erased.

Correction: If you have to use slow motion to see this, it is not valid as a movie mistake.

Above the Law (1988)

Corrected entry: When Nico and Nelson Fox are in the parking lot with the bad guys, Nelson shoots one of them in the leg and he moves from the front of the car to the side of the car between shots. Also the headlights turn on and off between shots. (Slow-mo is required.) (01:22:50)

The-Immortal

Correction: If the use of slow motion is required, it is not valid as a movie mistake.

Corrected entry: During the whole movie, Charlie's motorcycle has only one seat, but when he takes Irene for a ride, it suddenly has two. (00:27:50)

Sol Parker

Correction: There are two different motorcycles involved here, and neither of those are Charlie's personal one. They both belong to the Rhode Island Police. When Charlie is given the mission to escort Irene to Nw York, he is also temporarily issued a bike with a passenger seat, as this would be a necessesity.

Correction: Riker suggests this three times, and all three times his lips move just fine. It is hard to see the first time because of the distance between him and the camera, but his mouth is moving as it should.

Corrected entry: In the scene in the cavern where the grandaddy scorpion kills one of the smaller scorpions, there is one frame where the animator forgot to remove a surface gauge before shooting the frame. It is touching the head of the large scorpion. (00:56:00)

Correction: If you have to go frame-by-frame to see it, it is not a movie mistake.

Chisum (1970)

Corrected entry: John Wayne is standing on frount porch of ranch house smoking a cigar and speaking to his niece who is visting from the East. He takes the cigar from his in his left hand and attempts to open a pocket watch. If you watch carefully you can see him flinch as the lit cigar burns his left hand.

Correction: Most people would flinch when burned with a lit cigar. It's not a mistake, but an example of less-than-perfect coordination, something that happens every day in real life, to real people.

Platoon (1986)

Corrected entry: At the end after Charlie sheen has shot Barnes an APC comes to them and administers help. When that APC starts to come out of the jungle you can see it is flying a flag. This flag is not the US flag however, it is the Nazi flag.

Correction: Character decision, not a movie mistake. As we can see in the movie, and many others, soldiers in a warzone where discipline is not enforced rigorously, can decorate their equipment and themselves with loads of weird stuff (like writing on helmets, headbands, cigarettes stuck into sleeves or helmets, pin-up photos, etc).

Corrected entry: Just after Cameron's party in celebration of Derek's return, Derek and Danny run off after Seth almost shoots Derek. When Danny catches up to Derek, he pushes him into the side of a building screaming "What happened to you Der?" Danny is expressing anger, resentment, and extreme confusion at the change in his brother, who he had before known only as the charismatic Neo-Nazi group leader. However, Danny's response in this scene does not make sense. While Danny has seen some subtle changes in his brother at this point in the movie, he has not yet fully seen the full significant change in Derek's beliefs. He was not present during Derek's "I am out." declaration to Cameron. He soon after learns of Derek's change when Derek tells him of his prison story.

Correction: This is a character decision, and not something you can categorically say is a plot hole. Danny can see that Derek has changed, in such things that he questions Danny's skinhead beliefs, refuses to shave his head, does not want Danny attending neo-Nazi parties, and does something during the meeting with Cameron (although Danny does not know what) to seriously tick off the Nazi leaders, enough that his friend wants to shoot him. All in all, this should be more than enough for Danny to be confused and frustrated.

Psycho (1960)

Corrected entry: When Martin Balsam questions Anthony Perkins, Perkins says that during her stay at the motel, Janet Leigh didn't make any phone calls. "Did you sleep with her?" Balsam asks. Perkins says no. "Then how do you know she didn't make any phone calls?" This would have been verifiable on the switchboard, where a record would have been kept, especially in the case of a motel, where guests' phone calls are bound to be long distance.

Correction: This a character mistake from detective Arbogast's side. He assumes that Norman would have had to stay in Marion's room the whole time to be so sure she did not make any phone calls, but he does not know anything about running a motel, or how things like this are recorded.

BASEketball (1998)

Corrected entry: When Cain is telling Coop that in order for the rules to change, every owner (of each team) has to vote 'yes'. Even if every owner voted yes (as you see later, Remer agrees since he is part owner of the team), Coop would still have jurisdiction over them since (as he tells Jenna) he is in charge of the league.

Correction: Yes, and? If every owner including Coop voted "yes" to a rules change, it would not matter if Coop had jurisdiction or not. He would not overrule himself, would he? I also doubt that he is in charge of the league. It sounds more that when he makes that statement it is to reflect that as owner, he can vote for rules changes along with the other owners and affect the entire league, nothing more.

The Stand (1994)

Corrected entry: In many scenes throughout the movie, there are corpses strewn about. The only people who die instantly were the ones in the Army lab, the rest suffered from the flu for 3-4 days before dying. It makes sense for people to die in their cars while fleeing cities but, for example, there is a corpse sitting on a tractor when the four men are walking to Vegas, and a scene with a diner filled with corpses. With people dying everywhere and everyone is sick, no one will be drinking coffee or plowing fields.

Correction: This is actually true to the book, where dead people were found in various "every day" poses all over the place. People fool themselves every day, and with the onset of this killer super-flu, many people convinced themselves that they did not really have it (Claiming it was hay fever/allergies or a cold, nothing more), or that they would survive this like they had survived other flus before. So they kidded themselves into continuing with their regular lives, until they passed out, and eventually died, in their seats.

Corrected entry: In the opening scene on the boat, when Keyzer Soze extinguishes the fire by peeing on it, the close-up shows the flames being hit by a rather thick, coherent jet. However, the next shot shows a disintegrated spray, which is quite natural since he is aiming from several meters above. (00:02:30)

NancyFelix

Correction: That is because Soze is starting to get dehydrated, and then his urine becomes "lumpy", as he later explains to Kujan. After the initial blockage of the urinary tract is gone, it starts to spray out more. The initial shot of gelatinous urine was actually done deliberately, as yet another hint that Verbal is Keyser Soze.

Thunderbirds (2004)

Corrected entry: The hover-sled the kids use must have throttle pedals on either side of the footboards. When they first use it, Alan uses his left foot to set off, later he uses his right foot.

Correction: As the submitter himself/herself says, the sleds have pedals on both sides. Not a mistake, but an unusual design feature.

Twotall

Corrected entry: In the beginning they are interviewing ordinary people (locals) before going off into the woods for a weekend documentary. Two of the people they happen to interview are two local yokels fishing in a small, shallow river. The mistake is that the men are fishing in the river, and one of the men is using a large, open water lure called a 'Rattle Trap', a lure that's primarily used for largemouth bass in large, open waters, not shallow trout streams. You can't present a 3" lure to a 10" fish. It just doesn't work.

Correction: Character mistake, not a movie mistake. You never saw him catch fish with his lure either, and now we know why.

The Time Machine (2002)

Corrected entry: The Time Machine is steam powered. They make this very obvious with Alexander thumping the steam gauge when he first starts it up and during the fight with the Morlock at the end. However, there is no source of fuel for a boiler on the machine. By traveling in a steam time machine without carrying fuel, he would face the prospect of landing somewhere where there was nothing to burn to get himself back (for example when he found himself in an ice age toward the end of the film). Granted he originally built the machine only to travel backwards four years and where fuel would be available, but not having at least a coal scuttle on the machine seems shortsighted.

Correction: Character mistake. It is possible to forget things like this, especially when, as the submitter says, he was not planning to go anyplace where fuel would be in scarce supply.

Corrected entry: When Alexander is preparing to board the Time Machine for the first time and go back to save Emma, he selects the pocketwatch she gave him. He is shown setting the hands, closing the case, and placing it in his pocket. However, the watch is obviously not wound. The seconds hand is not moving in the closeup and the watch is not making any sound.

Correction: Character mistake. He had been quite excited recently, nearing the completion of his project and going back in time to see his girlfriend again, so he had simply forgotten to wind the watch.

Congo (1995)

Corrected entry: During Tim Curry's death sequence, if you freeze-frame the shot where a gray gorilla crushes his head, you can see that the gorilla's fists don't actually come in contact with Tim Curry's head-they land on either side.

Correction: If you have to slow the movie down to see this, it is not a movie mistake as per the rules of this website. Only mistakes that are visible in regular viewing are valid.

Shane (1953)

Corrected entry: The father of the family Shane stays with loads his shotgun at one point when the antagonistic cattle rancher shows up, and the shells he loads are red plastic. All the shells then were completely brass.

Correction: Some cheap brands of shotgun shells of that time period were made of thick, red paper. They were cheaper to make and sell, but could not be reloaded as brass shells could.
