Signs (2002)

Corrected entry: It is hinted that the aliens have been visiting Earth since the 1970s for recognisance purposes. In all that time, did they never notice how much it rains on this planet? Were the aliens flying over the deserts most of the time?

Correction: The info about how long aliens have been visiting Earth comes from the book Morgan and Bo are reading. This book is highly questionable as evidence, seeing how all of the information recited from it smacks of sensationalism, and a lot of it is completely false (like wearing tin foil on your head to avoid brain scans). It is therefore not certain that the reports on earlier visitiations are true. And even granting that they MAY have been true, according to an earlier correction it is possible that it is the contamination in tap water that is toxic to aliens, so observation of rain and clouds would not have revealed this danger to them.

The Simpsons (1989)

Correction: Apu is a Hindu. Hinduism teaches that there is in fact only one god (Brahman), but that it manifests itself in many different ways, such as Vishnu, Shiva, Ganesha etc. Each of these manifestations can be worshipped as a deity, and most Hindus chooses which manifestation to worship (the "personal" aspect of the deity, Ishvara). But ultimately all prayers and sacrifices are directed to the same entity. As we can see through the entire series, Apu worships Ganesha primarily, but he would recognize other forms of god, called Devas, which often translates as "gods". It is not entirely accurate, but that's the problem with translation. So there is nothing wrong with him expressing both a monotheistic and polytheistic wiew of the world.

Corrected entry: Tom Cruise is able to drive the mini-van because he told the mechanic to try changing the solenoids. The military vehicles all work, indicating that they knew how to get vehicles moving again, yet the military does not tell the mobs of people how to repair the cars and Tom Cruise does not take the time to replace a solenoid in one of the thousands of disabled cars, instead choosing to walk from the Hudson River to Boston, about 200 miles.

Correction: Cruise's character had already seen first-hand the stampede and violence that erupted when the mobs saw a working car. He knew he would not have been allowed to keep the car for long, and it could be very dangerous to him and his daughter. As for the military; how many of the regular soldiers would know how to fix the cars? Most likely this was done by the mechanics in the military compounds, and they would have their hands full with repairing vehicles (or being called out to fight), so it is not certain thy would have had the opportunity to inform the public.

Twotall

Well, one more reason is, where will he find the solenoid in that chaos, to replace it in the first place?

Corrected entry: When Ace is hanging on the wall in the James Bond scene, when he lets go with one hand to open the door his hand holding him slips and he still hangs, showing he is standing on something.

Correction: This is very intentional. Ace is obviously standing on a ledge the whole time, but he plays that he is in a spy thriller, and has to follow the clichés. One of these is to give the audience a scare by having the hero hanging on to something by one hand and almost slip off. It is just Aces childish fantasy at work here, nothing more.

Corrected entry: When Han was frozen in carbonite in "The Empire Strikes Back", there were straps around his upper arms, which were not removed before he was frozen, like the handcuffs were. But when he's unfrozen this film, the straps are gone. (00:18:25)

Correction: Already listed and corrected. The Ugnaught guards can be seen removing all his constraints before he is frozen, both handcuffs and these straps.

Corrected entry: When Mace Windu is talking to Yoda, Ki-Adi-Mundi and Aayla Secura via holograms in the Jedi war room, as he says, "The Jedi Council would have to take control of the Senate in order to secure a peaceful transition.", his lightsabre is visible. A short time later, when he confronts Darth Sidious, he is carrying a different sabre. (He only has one sabre.). (00:59:10 - 01:08:00)

Correction: Even if he only uses one saber at a time, there is nothing wrong with Mace Windu owning more than one saber. And since the confrontation with Palpatine happens some time later, he could have switched to one with a different design. Maybe the one he used against Palpatine had some specific functions the other did not?

Corpse Bride (2005)

Corrected entry: Victor's parents are rich merchants who want him to marry the daughter of a poor aristocrat family. While it was common in this era (the film's setting is vague, but obviously somewhere in Europe from 800-1800) for rich peasants to marry into the poor nobility, it was always a noble man who married a bourgeoisie woman. Noble titles transferred through the male line only. Victor's family would gain no societal standing or aristocratic title by marrying their son to a noble woman, because noble women didn't come with titles, only noble men.

Correction: There may actually be other reasons for them to marry Victor into the noble family. For one thing, it would give the fish merchants some social contacts in the upper classes, even if they did not have a title or aristocratic blood. In addition, it may be that the Everglots were the only family in the area that belonged to the upper class. The Van Dorts, of course, want their son to marry as good as he can. If Victoria is the only girl around who is "good enough", then so be it.

Corrected entry: When Windu and the other Jedi fight Chancellor Palpatine, their original intention is to arrest him. Yet later when Anakin walks in on Windu, Windu says that he has control of the Senate and the Courts and is too dangerous to be kept alive.

Correction: That's Mace Windu's decision, and he obviously changes his mind when he sees just how powerful and dangerous Palpatine is with his own eyes. If Palpatine had come willingly, or at least refrained from killing the Jedi, Windu most likely would have tried to subdue him peacefully.

Corrected entry: What the heck happened to Yoda between the trilogies? In Episode III, he was strong, wise, solemn, like Mace Windu. But when Luke meets him in Episode V, he's nearly insane. He says to Luke, "Away put your weapon, I mean you no harm." while cowering to Luke's blaster. Yoda is a Jedi Master & very strong in the Force. Why is he nothing like he was in the 1st trilogy?

Correction: Yoda is faking it in "Empire." It is a test to see how Luke reacts to a small, silly, harmless creature and how long Luke's patience would last. Observe when Luke fails this test and throws down his dinner, exclaiming "I'm wasting my time," how Yoda's behaviour changes instantly to the old, wise Jedi master.

Alien 3 (1992)

Corrected entry: When Ripley and Aaron discuss the alien, Aaron says that they have thousands of flashlights in the prison, but no batteries. Later, as a group of people are finding the dead bodies after the accident, several of them are using flashlights that are working fine. (00:59:15)

Correction: Aaron was exaggerating to make a point about how lousy their equipment and supplies are. There are batteries, but you have to scrounge around to find ones that still work.

Corrected entry: When Harry is reading the 'Daily Prophet', one of the headlines is "Tragic Teenager", even though in the news story itself Harry is quoted as being "Twelve years old".

Correction: But remember, this is Rita Skeeter's article. She does not care very much about actual facts, and constantly makes things up about Harry to capture the attention of the reader. The headline would sound better with the alliteration of "Tragic teenager", but in the "story" itself it would be so much more dramatic and tragic the younger Harry was portrayed.

Corrected entry: Why would Laurie consider that it was someone else as Michael when he's just crashed through her door and pursued her through the sanitarium. Plus even if she did take off the mask she wouldn't know what Michael looks like anyway.

cameron davies

Correction: In the very first "Halloween" film there is a scene where Michael stalks Laurie out of the bedroom and narrowly misses her with the knife. Laurie manages to remove his mask and can see his face. Add some burns to this (the ending of "Halloween 2"), and she would have a picture of what he looks like. As to why she wants to make sure: she has already killed one innocent person whom she thought was Michael, and the shock of that was enough to send her to a mental institution. It is not a situation she would want repeated, even if it was a "copycat" chasing her.

Speed (1994)

Correction: According to the IMDb, the part was written for Ellen DeGeneres (and the role was a lot more comedic). Halle Berry was just one of the people to turn it down.

Twotall

Correction: According to Wikipedia and Rolling Stone, the role was offered to Halle Berry but she declined the part. Berry would later regret the decision. Later, the character had then been changed to a driver's education teacher, and made the character more of a comic-relief sidekick to Jack, with Ellen DeGeneres in mind for the part.

Corrected entry: When Harry and Hermione travel back in time to save Sirius, there is a continual ticking sound heard right through until they catch up with themselves in the hospital.

roboc

Correction: Yes, but since everyone can hear it clearly for themselves while watching the movie, it's not really trivia.

Tombstone (1993)

Corrected entry: When the stagecoach containing Josie pulls away, its door obviously wasn't latched properly. Look closely and you can see the door swing wide open as the stagecoach leaves.

Correction: Not a movie mistake. Believe it or not, this can actually happen in real life.

Wolf (1994)

Corrected entry: After Will washes his face in the lake he suddenly gets startled the blood on his hands. He should have been surprised earlier when he was looking down at his hands before he dipped into the water. (00:51:10)

NancyFelix

Correction: Well, he HAD just woken up in a strange place after a strenous night (and sleeping on the stony ground afterwards). He was bound to be a bit tired and disorientated when he first sat up, it is only after the cold water splashes his face and wakes him up that his brain is capable of registering the blood on him, and that it is not part of a dream.

Corrected entry: When Shinzon begins to descend the staircase in the meeting chamber in which he first meets the away team, he raises the light level, causing the Viceroy to step back into the shadows, because Remans are sensitive to light. But when the meeting is over, the Viceroy walks back up the steps with Shinzon before Shinzon tells the computer to lower the light level again, with no ill effects. It actually appears that the light had already been lowered, and didn't change again after Shinzon's order. (00:33:20)

Correction: The Remans are only sensitive to light due to them spending several years underground, it does not kill them. Most likely the viceroy's eyes would hurt when he stepped into the light, but he chose to ignore the pain so that he could accompany Shinzon after the meeting with the Enterprise crew was completed.

Robert Calvin

Correction: It's not uncommon for rock concerts to be filmed by documentary crews, for use in upcoming music videos, documentaries or other movies about the band. Footage from these are even used on TV news the same day as the concert. As such, there is nothing wrong with a camera being present.

The Sixth Sense (1999)

Corrected entry: When Malcolm arrives for dinner at the restaurant with his wife he says: "I thought you meant the other Italian restaurant I asked you to marry me at". When, and why, could she have said this to him? She can't see him because he's dead, so why would she be talking about where she wanted to go for their anniversary meal.

Correction: We don't know where Malcolm gets his information. No one really hired him to meet with Cole either, and no one told him when Cole had been sent to the hospital, but he knew anyway. But since the dead does not know they are dead there must be some outside force that work on Malcolm's mind, giving him such information, so that the illusion he has about still being alive is maintained.

Outbreak (1995)

Corrected entry: At one point in the film a Hummer pulls up quickly outside the main hospital. So quickly in fact it bumps into an old lady in the crowd knocking her flying.

Correction: Not a mistake, as this can happen in real life. Unintentional in the movie, perhaps, but still possible.
