2012 (2009)

Corrected entry: As the big Russian jet falls over the cliff, Sasha makes the Catholic Sign of the Cross, not the Orthodox Sign of the Cross. In the next scene, Yuri does the same.

spledeus

Correction: This has already been corrected once. Who's to say the two are not actually Catholics? They have been living in the US for some time, and has had ample opportunity to convert to Catholicism.

Twotall

Corrected entry: In her visions, Evie is shown to be Nefertiti, with Seti I being her father (or whatever he is surposed to be). However, the visions are set in 1290 BC, in the 19th Dynasty. That's correct in terms of Seti I, but Nefertiti is from the 18th Dynasty and is believed to have lived between 1370-1330 BC, over 200 years before Seti I.

crickey78

Correction: She is not Nefertiti, but Nefertiri. A different person with an almost-identical name. And even if the names WERE identical, she is always meant to be an unknown princess from the 19th dynasty, never the famous wife of Akhenaten.

Crazy Heart (2009)

Corrected entry: When Bad crashes his car and is knocked unconscious, we immediately see a close up of him in the car, with the gear selector in park. How could he have changed it while the car was barreling down a hill to a crash which knocks him out?

Correction: The lever could have been knocked into 'park' by Blake's arm or leg, when he was thrown out of his seat.

Friends (1994)

Correction: Between the pilot and this episode, several months or even years have passed in the "Friends" universe. There has been plenty of time for Rachel to hear about Kip from Chandler or Ross.

Darkman (1990)

Corrected entry: Whenever Peyton looses his nerve, we see a montage of images racing through his mind. The first time this happens, we see him screaming with his face bound in bandages. However, at this point, he has just woken up after being found, so he should not know he is burnt and wrapped up.

Correction: He has been awake or semi-awake for most of the time, and has listened to the doctors discussing his case. That is made especially clear in the scene where the female doctor is using him as a demonstration object to the interns. He does not know precisely how badly he is burned, but he knows he is badly burned on 70% of his body and wrapped in bandages. And before the procedure where his nerve canal got cut, he could probably feel a lot of the burns as well.

Twotall

The film shows him waking up for the first time during this scene and displaying confusion and panic, so the idea that he's been awake or semi-aware of what's happened is complete nonsense.

Granted, he might not have been awake the entire time - but there is also nothing in the scene that says he goes from unconsciousness to wide awake in a second. He could have been in the process of waking up, which means he could have heard the doctor describing his case (which she does in the scene).

Darkman (1990)

Corrected entry: After all the chaos at the film's climax, the next morning there is no commotion as Peyton and Julie leave the construction site. Surely someone would have noticed the bodies of two men who fell over 600-feet.

Correction: The building they are in is just one of several high-rises being built simultaneously. Louis even makes the point that he is constructing an entire city on the site. If the building where the final fight took place was in the middle of a block-wide construction site, there would not be many people around to observe the falling bodies. The scene where Peyton and Julie leave, happens a while later (mid-morning), so they probably had to traverse quite a bit of the site to get out.

Darkman (1990)

Corrected entry: As Peyton and Julie leave the construction site at the end of the movie, the sky is pitch-black. However, a few shots later, the sun has fully risen and the streets have gone from empty to packed with morning traffic.

Correction: The construction site stretches over several city blocks. It would take Peyton and Julie quite some time to get down from the building, and then make their way out to populated areas. In the meanwhile, the sun has risen and daily business has begun in the streets outside.

Darkman (1990)

Corrected entry: Whatever happened to the one legged henchman? He was one of the villains lead goons in the first half of the film, but he simply disappears after the scene in Chinatown.

Correction: After the scene in Chinatown, Darkman is in more of a hurry, as the villains now knows who he is and where to find him (and Julie). He simply does not take the time to dispatch all of the henchmen, at least not in the timeframe of the movie, and instead concentrates on the head villains.

Shoot 'Em Up (2007)

Corrected entry: During the robbery at the end of the film, one of the wannabe badguys extends his left middle digit towards Mr. Smith, who then shoots it off. Since the gunsel's torso was directly behind the extended finger, the bullet, unless it was deflected by the upraised phalange, should have ended its journey somewhere around his left lung.

Correction: In between the shot of him extending his middle finger and the actual shooting, a couple of seconds pass where the camera is on Smith. In these seconds, the gunman is also shown to be reacting to Smith's tricks with the gun, which means he had time and opportunity to move both his body and his hand.

Shoot 'Em Up (2007)

Corrected entry: Smith picks up the baby's mother to run away from Hertz after he finds out the gun won't shoot because of the finger prints reader. On the way to the stairs, she gets a bullet in her forehead. But Hertz is shooting from behind her, so the shot should be in the back of her head.

Danramza

Correction: Smith is carrying her in his arms, so her body is across his (and mostly shielded). This means that while Smith's back is towards Hertz, hers is not. If she turned her head just slightly (to keep an eye on Hertz, for instance), her forehead would be exposed to catch the bullet.

Robin Hood (2010)

Corrected entry: The grain to be planted was corn. In England at the end of the middle ages corn was unknown. It came from America more than 100 years later.

jlozano

Correction: In Great Britain, where the movie is set, the word "corn" does not refer to maize (which is called corn in the USA), but to a grain, such as wheat. http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/corn.

Corrected entry: When the royal family plus entourage comes through the town to meet the French king, in bird's-eye views Henry is marching alone in front, but in close-ups someone else is at his side. (00:20:40)

NancyFelix

Correction: I thought so too at first, but Henry always has Eleanor at his side. They are only shown in close-ups. The bird's-eye view is showing Phillip of France, who is walking alone.

Ninja Assassin (2009)

Corrected entry: The entire turning point of the movie pends on the ninja finding Raizou and taking him back to the clan. OK. That's fine, but they've been trying to send ninja to kill him for the last few years (the first few fighting scenes show them trying very hard to kill him). When they finally find him unable to defend himself, why drag him to the clan instead of just gutting him there?

Correction: Because, as we can see in other parts of the movie, executing a captive "traitor" to the clan is a way for them to regain their honor (as well as present a very graphic example to the current clan members). So they would very much prefer to take him alive and execute him in a public display. However, catching Raizou alive would be extremely difiicult (as we can see), so up until that moment they have opted for just trying to catch him unawares and kill him quickly instead.

Elizabeth (1998)

Corrected entry: Elizabeth's lady in waiting Cat Ashley was actually much older than her and took care of her when she was a child, not the young woman portrayed in the film.

Correction: The movie is not a documentary, which leaves room for artistic license to be used by the filmmakers.

Elizabeth (1998)

Corrected entry: Thomas Howard, Duke of Norfolk, was only 22 when Elizabeth came to the throne. Far from being the sinister plotter portrayed in the film, he actually seems to have been somewhat weak and easily dominated. He was not executed until 1571, after his involvement in the Ridolfi Plot.

Correction: The movie is not a documentary, which leaves room for artistic license to be used by the filmmakers. They needed a person to be viewed as the focal point "villain" in the story, and so Norfolk was chosen.

Elizabeth (1998)

Corrected entry: Another one of the blindingly obvious historical inaccuracies of this film - Elizabeth was perfectly well aware that Dudley was married. She only distanced herself when his wife died in possibly suspect circumstances and rumours that she died so Dudley could marry Elizabeth emerged.

Correction: The movie is not a documentary. Artistic license was used by the filmmakers.

Elizabeth (1998)

Corrected entry: Sir William Cecil was only 38 at Elizabeth's accession, hardly the old man portrayed. Actually created Lord Burghley in 1571 (the film must end in the mid-1560s, as at the end it states that Elizabeth reigned for another forty years; she died in 1603), he was never retired by Elizabeth, but remained her chief minister for the rest of his life. He died in 1598.

Correction: Artistic license, the filmmakers are free to change facts around a bit.

Elizabeth (1998)

Corrected entry: Although King Phillip II did send an ambassador to congratulate Elizabeth while Mary was dying, he did not propose marriage until a year later.

Onesimos

Correction: Artistic license is used here. The filmmakers are allowed to change facts around a bit to make a more interesting story (to have the ambassador propose marriage straight off creates a bit more tension in the story, as well as demonstrates the pressure Elizabeth was under to marry).

Shutter Island (2010)

Corrected entry: When Teddy was administering CPR to his daughter in the lake, he used a method that was not in common use yet. The scene is set in 1952, but the rescue breathing method he used was only experimented with in 1952.

Correction: If the technique did exist (even if it was only experimental), there is a chance Teddy could have heard of it and/or seen it demonstrated.
