Lethal Weapon 4 (1998)

Corrected entry: Not really a mistake, but perhaps worth a look. In the previous three movies Mel Gibson's character wore his watch on his right hand. In this one he wears his watch on his left.

Correction: Like the submitter says, not a mistake at all.

The Recruit (2003)

Corrected entry: When Farrell is being held in the metal cell by the supposed bad guys we see him throwing the food about and banging on the door with his hands untied. In the following shot when he is removed from the cell his hands are now tied tightly.

Correction: This has already been corrected. Some time (possibly days) passes between these scenes. There is no telling what the "captors" did to Clayton in this time; one of them could have come back and bound his hands to prepare him for the shower.

Sin City (2005)

Corrected entry: A brief shot of Marv after he has been scratched by Kevin is flipped, the scratches run from bottom right to top left, instead of bottom left to top right as they do when he received them.

Correction: This has already been corrected. Marv gets slashed both ways; it is the lighting and camera angles that sometimes makes it seem like the wounds only go one way.

Corrected entry: When the Atlanta news van is outside Violet's house, the call letters of the TV station begin with the letter K. Atlanta's stations (and all stations east of the Mississippi River) start with the letter W.

marfbody

Correction: True, in general. But: 1) The rule about W/K assignments for radio and TV stations was abandoned for a little while in 1923, when every new station was given a KD call, including KDKA in Pittsburgh (which is still operating). 2) In addition to this, KYW-TV in Philadelphia is another station east of Mississippi that has a K callsign. 3) Seeing how big a media attraction a Golden Ticket winner is, it is not unlikely that reporters and TV crews would travel a bit to get live footage of one of them.

Corrected entry: In the scene when Willy is with the chief Oompa Loompa and is eating the slug things, Willy Wonka sticks out his tongue and you can see the green dye has stained it from previous takes. Since we see his uncertainty and then revulsion, it's safe to assume that he's not eaten them before.

Disney-Freak

Correction: Wonka also states that the Oompa-Loompas use different things to try to make the larvae edible. It is possible that he HAD tried the larvae before, in their natural state (after all, he was there looking for new, exotic tastes for candy), and that the bowl he was handed by the chief was with some added "condiment" but still tasted horrible. This would explain why Wonka at first is reluctant to try the food, and his repulsion to it.

Family Business (1989)

Corrected entry: After the lab caper, Sean Connery surprises Chou by hiding in the back seat of his car. Connery calls him "Wang" (the actor's real name). Chou responds, "My name's not Wang. It's Chou." Connery says "Whatever."

Correction: Connery's character makes a mistake, and it is corrected within the movie. No error from the filmmakers here.

The Patriot (2000)

Corrected entry: After Tavington is down by the creek shaving, he comes back up the hill and gets on his horse. He is supposed to be sticking something in his chest pocket, but you can clearly see it miss and fall to the ground.

Correction: That's his straight razor he loses. And people can actually do this in real life, especially with the stress of being under attack and unarmed.

A Bronx Tale (1993)

Corrected entry: Right before Sonny shoots the guy in front of C, the guy hits Joe Pesci's windshield with a bat. The windshield doesn't shatter or break open or anything, it just cracks, but you see Joe Pesci come out of the car holding his head in pain as if he was hit with the bat. He would have had to have his head pressing against the windshield in order to be affected at all by the impact from the bat, which he didn't.

KINGOFNY

Correction: He HAD just been in a head-on collision. It is not unlikely, if he didn't wear a seatbelt, that his head flew forward and into the steering wheel or windshield. As such, his pain comes from the collision, not the bat hitting the car.

Twotall

Correction: The cars never hit. This was definitely a blooper.

Patton (1970)

Corrected entry: At the onset of the Battle of the Bulge, Patton says the German army hasn't launched a winter offensive since Frederick the Great. Although most of the fighting during this battle occurred in winter, the Germans actually launched their attack on December 16, 1944, i.e. toward the end of autumn, several days before the official start of winter.

Correction: True, according to astronomy, winter begins at the winter solstice (Dec. 21). But meteorogically and in daily speech, December is the first winter month, and winter starts on Dec. 1st. Since this is the term most people use, Patton is well within his rights when he refers to an attack in December as a "winter offensive".

Superman III (1983)

Corrected entry: In the end when Clark is meeting Lana at the hotel in Metropolis and he is giving her the diamond ring he pressed himself from a piece of coal. Then Brad shows up in an attempt to get Lana. How do you expect a drunken security guard (who probably got fired later on) to find out where she is, afford a flying ticket and find the hotel where she is staying?

Correction: There are plenty of possible explanations to this, for instance: 1) Having a friend who worked as a P.I. tracking down Lana through passenger manifests and hotel registries. 2) Calling Lana's friends and/or relatives to see if she had told them where she would be for the next couple of days. 3) As for obtaining money for airfare: He could have pawned things, stolen money, hitchhiked, taken a train instead of flying, borrowed money from a friend. Endless number of options if he wanted it bad enough.

A Bronx Tale (1993)

Corrected entry: When C goes to meet Jane on their first date, she approaches him and asks him if he was involved in the beating of her brother earlier. After C denies it, Jane yells "Wayne" toward the car for him to come out, then a few seconds later she asks her brother "Are you sure it was him. Willy?", and later in the movie her brother is referred to as 'Willy' as well.

Correction: She yells "Willy" not "Wayne".

UHF (1989)

Correction: Yes, but this is a fantasy scene of George's. He is not a trained pilot, and can only base his fantasy on what he remembers seeing in movies, so he gets this wrong (either from the character mistake of false memory, or from seeing a movie that got this wrong as well).

Lisa's Wedding - S6-E19

Corrected entry: Marge is reminding Lisa of the differences between the UK and the USA before she goes to visit Hugh's family in England. Obviously the steak-and-kidney pie remark is a joke, but she says, "Remember, a mile is called a kilometer..." No it isn't. The metric system is used in mainland Europe - miles over here are still miles.

He's My Brother

Correction: This is clearly a mistake on Marge's part, as she is unfamiliar with European life and makes things up based on expressions she vaguely remember hearing about. And isn't it possible, since this episode takes place in the future, that the UK has joined the rest of Europe and switched to the metric system?

Correction: Why can't this be a picture of baby Lisa? She and Maggie does have some similar features (their hair, for instance), and would probably resemble each other even more at infancy.

Clerks (1994)

Corrected entry: Not a mistake as such, but worth noticing. When Dante and Randal are discussing the pay rate for the "booth cleaners" at adult entertainment centres, a man comes up to them and says that he is very offended with their language and discussion topic, and he will never come back to the Quick Stop store again. If you look at what the man is purchasing, you can see that it is a bottle of window cleaner and a roll of paper towels. Perhaps he works at one of these establishments?

Correction: Or maybe he's cleaning his windows during the weekend. There is no other indication that he works in an adult entertainment center, and with his reaction to the clerks' language, it is highly doubtful.

Survival Instinct - S6-E2

Corrected entry: When Seven of Nine and the other Borg are stranded on the planet they cook and eat the meat of an animal. The problem is the Borg are an extremely logical race so why don't they cook the organs which are a lot more nutritious.

Correction: This is a character mistake based on a conscious choice they make, not a movie mistake. One possible explanation can be that since the Borg are unfamiliar with eating in the traditional way, only to recharging in the Borg energy conduit port, they have to rely on what they know of other races' feeding habits and therefore decide that meat is the most acceptable food.

Sleepy Hollow (1999)

Corrected entry: Near the beginning Ichabod claims 'the millennium is almost upon us' - yet it's only 1799, 200 years early.

Chimera

Correction: Ichabod wanted his statement to be as dramatic as powerful, and chose to point to the millennium change instead to the much closer centennial change, to emphasize his point about adopting modern methods. Also, "almost" is a very relative term. From our point of view (living in a fast-paced world) 200 years is a long time, but when looking at the entire history of the human race, 200 years is a trifle.

Sin City (2005)

Corrected entry: In the scene after Marv and his parole officer escape the cell, the huge slashes across his face change sides. In the long shots they are going from left to right, but close up the are going right to left.

mandy gasson

Correction: I thought so too, but when I looked a little closer I could see that Marv has slashes going in both directions on his face, in a cross-pattern. The lighting and camera angles sometimes make it seem like the slashes only go in one direction, but they are all there.

Marge on the Lam - S5-E6

Corrected entry: When Marge goes to the ballet with Ruth Powers, she has a purple coat with fur around the top. They go to the ballet, and when they come out Marge hasn't got the coat.

Correction: She forgot it at the ballet - character mistake.

Twotall

Corrected entry: Morla tells Atreyu that the Southern Oracle is 10,000 miles away. When Atreyu wakes up at Engywook and Urgl's house, Falcor tells him he has brought him 9,891 miles towards the Oracle. Then we see Atreyu walk from the house to the Oracle in only a matter of minutes, as Engywook watches him through the telescope. But he should still be 109 miles away - there's no way he could walk that far that fast.

Correction: While the 10,000 miles was accurate, Atreyu even asks if Falcor took him the whole 10,000 miles, that's the distance he would have had to travel on foot. Generally when people talk about how far away something is, they're talking about the distance they have to travel, which is rarely in a straight line. Falcor says, he only took 9,891 miles, but then adds "as the dragon flies." This is the same as saying "as the crow flies." New York to Los Angeles might only be 2,450 miles apart, "as the crow flies", but the distance you drive might be 2,900 miles. That means Atreyu was lucky that he got to travel in a straight line.

Bishop73

Correction: Morla is rounding up - it sounds better (and more imposing) to say "10,000 miles" than "9,896 miles exactly". Besides, this is a medieval fantasy setting. Accurate measuring by surveyors is not something that is usually done. Most people would deal in estimates, Falcor seems to be the exception to this.

Twotall

Correction: The gold sphinx pair are not the Southern Oracle - they're the first gate to the Oracle. The Southern Oracle are the blue sphinx pair. Atreyu passes through two gates on the way there, with numerous cuts in between. The second gate has a blizzard going on whereas the weather is clear at the first gate and Oracle. Hence, it's reasonable to assume there's some distance between the two gates and the Oracle.
